Fostering Work Place Creativity in an Organization like Hospital In the earlier times the concept of creativity and innovativeness was only confined to the people who have artistic minds and skills. The creative ideas can only be presented only artists and others were not interested in it. It was a general common behavior that only artists can be creative and innovative in their thinking and activities and the rest of the expert people are not concerned with it. But as the time passes, there is advancement in everything in this world. Similar is the case with work place decorum and ethics. People and management also need a unique and innovative work place environment which actually forces and encourage people towards their work. In addition to the innovativeness in the work place environment, there is a need of creative ideas so that the output production will also be differentiated on the basis of its uniqueness in the market among competitors (May, 2013). Due to these requisites, now the creativity has been transferred from the artists towards the businesses also. The term creativity actually refers towards a mental and cognitive ability of thinking new and different practical ideas. Here the word practical is important because it means that all the new and different ideas should be implementable in the real world. In an organizational setup, employees are usually tasked in order to explore their expertise and thus differentiate even themselves among other employees. It is also important issue that creativity is though natural and God gifted skill but it cannot be flourished unless and until it is not grown properly. In order to flourish the creative skills, an open trade of ideas is very much necessary. There may be new and artistic thoughts when people discuss with other, and this discussion is only possible when the employees are provided with such an environment which actually promotes people. Either we talk about earlier times or its 21st century, organizational leaders may have to cooperate just to solve big issues and challenges that may hurdle the progress of the institution. When we talk about any specific work place then there may be a variety of ideas which can be used artistically for the improvement of that specific work place. Hospitals are the places where the creativity and the innovation can be appreciated only if they will not harm to their patients. Patients are the biggest concern for the hospitals and then come doctors. When we talk about hospital scenario then many researchers have the opinion that using creative tools we can make a slight change in the environment. A hospital’s environment is so much tiring and there is always a need of some relaxation. They have also supported the creative ideas by saying that they may lower down the stress and anxiety of the doctors, patients and the family members of the patients. They will also foster a healthy work place environment. To provide such a creative environment, the hospital management should be active (McGuiness, 2011). The involvement of art in the health care industry is aim to enhance the liveliness in the patients (Malchiodi, 2002). The creative tools like drama, audio, video, visuals, music, and humor may affect the patients’ life and the doctors will be freshen up. There is a fact behind the use of such creative tools that they may lessen the use of painkillers by the patients, they will be inclined towards the treatment and the most important is the reduction in the stay period of the patients. In short words, we can say that all of these creative and entertainment tools actually provide an aid to the treatment of the doctors. Another idea is the introduction of green services in the hospitals, as most of the companies are working on green marketing also. Green services actually means to involve nature in the work place and even in the treatment also. This will bring a positive vibe in the patients as well as the in the doctor’s team and other staff members also. The concept of innovative and creative work place like hospital is now progressing at a faster speed. Many of the medical students are now adopting the course like health care and humanities, during their study period. We can say that a healthy work place environment in a hospital will be beneficial for both the patients and the employee doctors. The duty of the doctors is included in the list of those who are doing the most hectic jobs. I must say that working in a health-providing environment does not mean that there is a healthy environment for the employees and the staff members. The doctors have to give attention to the patients first in either situation so there must be an encouragement for them so that they may get motivated towards more enthusiasm. Now it is the whole and sole responsibility of the hospital management to take care of the doctors and provide them a supportive work place environment. There are many ideas which can be used in different manners and thus making a difference in the hospital environment. There should be a special care for the well-being of the doctors. Moral encouragement is very much necessary for the doctors (LaSala, 2010). Healthy doctors will also be able to provide more services to the patients. Investment in the health living programs can benefit a huge amount in the future. Stress reduction should always be the priority for the hospital management. Not a single employee or doctor can even work in the environment where there is always a sense of fear; accountability is waving in their minds. They would not work with responsibility either forcefully. There should be such an environment that every doctor may feel that individual importance and attention is given to his problems and issues. The sense of priority will enforce an organizational commitment in them. This organizational commitment will force them to be loyal towards their institution and thus the output performance will improve further. Therefore hospital management should provide a flexible space to the doctors for showing their creativity (Harrison, 2013). The work place environment should be like a community, which actually supports each other in any adverse situation. All the doctors should also create a community and thus working in it may polish their attitude and behaviors. In order to be an impressive personality for the patients the doctor must be active so that they may leave a very healthy impression on their patients. Another recent survey showed that there are some key elements, which actually foster or promote a healthy work place environment. One of them is the focus; if the doctors or the employees work more attentively and remain focused towards their job then it will be a healthy sign for the environment. Collaboration is the second element, which is needed at any work place. Communication always fills up the gaps between the team members and the employees. A good team is the one who actually provide support to one another within the team. Socializing is the other element that promotes teamwork between doctors and this teamwork is the real strength of any work place (Jones, 2013). A supportive employer or the management, co-worker behavior and the work place environment may affect the innovativeness and the creativity of a single employee (Dingfelder, 2003). There are many factors, which can be changed through creative ideas. From the office space to the schedule of the employee, everything can be revised with the help of innovation and creativity. Many businesses even do not know how to involve those ideas in the management. In the way the employees may get dishearten and thus feel that their creativity is damaged. In short words we can say that management of the institution should provide an environment where ideas are generated and also appreciated so that employees feel good towards the management. Human Resource managers play an important role in order to foster such a creative environment (Stevenson, 2013). The HR managers should encourage more and more innovative ideas by rewarding them. There should be a formalized and systematic process in order to review the ideas generated by the employees. There should be formal training workshops that may teach employees how to involve creativity in their work and the work place. The compensation packages may also be associated with these creative and innovative ideas. The bonus or the reward amount may encourage employees to further contribute in the process and thus polishing their brains and innovative skills. Above all, there should be enough budgets that can be used to apply those ideas, that are generated from the employee side. Reference List: Dingfelder, S. F. (2003).
