I. Background Solutions Exchange Inc. has been a flourishing business since 2005, and its success has been brought about by the reliable sales and support teams employed by management. With all the hard work the team has put in, management recognizes the need to offer a more competitive employment package through means of a comprehensive employee health plan.

This is one of the ways that the owners can give back the success the company has reaped, and encourage the team continuously take part in the efforts to achieve further advancement. II. The Current Employee Wellness and Health Program Since it started, the company has already put into place basic health and wellness programs for its employees, adhering to state regulations on providing adequate health and medical assistance: Health Insurance/ HMO that entitles the employee to free medical consultation, free basic laboratory examinations and hospital coverage of $ 1000 per year.

Medical allowance of $ 200 per annum Entitlement to 15 days Sick Leave III. Recommendations To develop the current health care programs, the Human Resources team initiated focus group discussions with randomly selected employees to find out their needs and their insights on the current implementation. From the FGDs, the team was able to draft the following enhanced programs to support the company’s objectives: a. Enhanced Health Plan through a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) – management has decided to get the services of another HMO to provide a more comprehensive health insurance to the employees and to two of their dependents.

Additional hospital coverage. Total coverage is now $ 2000 per year Dental and skin care benefits, inclusive of checkup, maintenance and laboratory exams New HMO is now recognized in more hospitals and clinics across the state, with a total of 350 accredited physician-clinics and affiliations in all major hospitals in the state New HMO has a clinic exclusively for the employees which the company will house independently but in co tandem with the Human Resources Team. Annual Physical and laboratory exam, including ECG and blood sugar testing, breast examination and mammogram for female employees.

Top management will also have the privilege to undergo general annual checkup complete with accommodation in the hospital of their choice Having a comprehensive health care package provides the employees with confidence that even while they are spending time at work, they have a dependable HMO which would provide support to establish wellness. Extending the program to their dependents is definitely a plus factor which would make them stay with the company even if there are other opportunities in other companies. b. Health Programs In coordination with the HMO, the Human Resources Department will be scheduling training and tutorial classes that aim to orient the employees on emergency health care, including: Administration of CPR and first aid Orientation on major diseases, promotion of preventive care by giving adequate information and health counseling not only for the employees but for their dependents as well Disaster preparedness, including fire and earthquake drills, emergency plans Nutrition counseling readily available when needed (must be scheduled with the clinic Corporate membership in Gold’s Gym and SPA, which enables employees to avail of the fitness programs and relaxation services at a much discounted cost.

An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. This holds true even to the workplace. There is no better way to promote wellness than preventing the ailments to happen. This is why the promotion of Preventive health care will be greatly beneficial to the employees. The foregoing programs aim at increasing productivity among the employees. It also aims to lower the turnover rate of the key positions in the company, and encourage quality employees to apply for a job. Human Resource is the most important resource of all.
