Just like other graduate of my era, I also have an ambition of life. Starting from university days, I always wanted to be a college or elementary level teacher. By the blessing of God, I got several opportunities to serve in different schools and now looking for a respectable teaching position in some highly reputable organizations to stay in touch with this field as a professional. The teaching and education field has a variety of opportunities for fresh graduates not only within country but even across the cultures. 1.2 Terms of Reference This report elaborates the opportunities of graduates in the educational field. 1.3 Methodology The report reveals that educational and teaching networks are growing throughout the world and provide attractive opportunities to the skilled and capable graduates. In order to highlight the career opportunities for graduates in teaching line, different renowned set ups of Beacon House School System and City School System were visited. Further research reports, interviews and statistics were collected through different websites to prepare this report. It includes the interviews of heads of BHSS (Beacon House School System) and CSS (City School System), the newspaper reports, survey reports of NACE and Occupational Outlook Handbook 2010-11. 1.4 Findings 1.4.1 General Employment Trends. Despite of global recession, still the education market shows continues improvements for college graduates. The latest hiring index of NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) illustrates that the improvement trend has increased from 87.2 in November, 2009 to 127.7 in next 12 months. Similarly the data indicates that unemployment trends in college graduates have declined from 8.8% to 8.6% (http://www.naceweb.org). 1.4.2 Recent and Future Trends. By 2018, almost 15% increasing trend is estimated for college and university teachers. This trend is faster than the average trend of all other occupations. The major cause behind this growth is the enrollment rate of students in higher studies in the upcoming years (Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010-11). U.S. News and World Report has declared that teaching profession will keep a higher ranking among best 50 careers in 2011 (http://money.usnews.com). Large numbers of academic experts and teachers are expected to retire over the next decade; therefore, positions for part-time educators will grow further and become ever more competitive. 1.4.3 Remuneration. Latest statistics indicate that average annual earning of graduate level teachers is about $58,830. The instructors or teachers of lowest working grade are even getting more than 28000 dollars per annum while the highest paying teachers are getting more than 120,000 dollars 1.4.4 Requisite Experience and Skills. Generally good organization demands an experience of teaching. For example, BHSS and CSS demand at least 03 to 05 years of teaching experience great expertise in their respective field. Fluency in English and computer knowledge is mandatory in terms of skills. 1.4.5 Selection Criteria. The following criteria are normally followed by renowned academic organizations to enrol graduates. (i) Basic graduate qualification and merit in particular field (ii) Relevant experience generally 03 to 05 years (iii) An interview of candidate (iv) Confidence level of candidates (v) Psychological tests (attitude, aptitude, and personality) (vi) Medical test Section 2: Personal Strengths and Weaknesses This section deals with my personality with respect to educational field and certain limitations that I have to remove. 2.1 Personal Analysis I am a committed, caring and enthusiastic professional teacher offering strong qualifications developed from more than 03 years of teaching and management experience in various institutions. I keep strong background in elementary and college level education in terms of arts, mathematics, and problem resolution. I am always a dedicated professional to create stable learning environments and inspire student to do their best. I keep exclusive demonstrating capacity to teach, motivate, and direct the students while maintaining the high level of interest and achievements. I offer superb interpersonal skills to establish positive relationships with students, parents, and faculty. I have the proven ability to offer individual support and ensure that all students’ needs and goals are met. With possessing good interpersonal and communication skills, I can create a healthy relationship with college and school community. 2.2 Gap Analysis Since presently I am already in the field of teaching with 03 years of experience, therefore, I have some certain kinds of advantages than the fresh graduates or the graduates of other fields that want to join the academic field. However, despite of all that, there are few points where I need to focus a lot. My basic qualification is Masters in Mathematics, and in this competitive era, it’s really insufficient. I must improve my qualification and since I also have basic knowledge of management sciences as well, therefore, a master degree can give a booster edge than my competitors. Further, no one can sustain on its position firmly in private sector without enhanced and up to date knowledge of internet and other computer related technologies. Therefore, I should also emphasize on this aspect as well. What should I do to improve my deficiencies; I have prepared a Career Action Plan as shown in Section 5 as Appendix “2”. Section 3: Conclusion In present scenario, there are a variety of job opportunities available for graduates at different levels in the field of academics. Despite of global turn down, this field is still considered a highly rewarding and has a respectable place in market and society. In order to achieve my targets, I have to focus on following various aspects of my life. (a) Improvement in Qualification. I really need to improve my basic qualification. Presently I did Masters in Mathematics but in the current era, I have to achieve excellence in the field of management sciences as well because the organizations like BHSS and CSS give preference to those candidates that also have good management qualities. The school administration is coming out a typical form of administration and I will improve myself in terms of school management courses as well. (b) Experience. Now a day, all good organizations prefer for experienced employees. Since I am already in the field of teaching, therefore, I will keep myself touch with this profession even with minor schools to gain the requisite experience. (c) Skills. Since educational field is a public dealing field, therefore, I have to focus on my interpersonal skills. In above paragraphs, I have highlighted my areas need to improve. Now I describe how I can improve my aspects of life. (a) Since I am already a teacher and remain committed with my duties till a long part of the day, therefore, in order to improve my educational and professional qualification, I will take admission in evening classes in my respective field. Distance learning programs can also be opted as an alternate. I hope I can achieve my targets within next 02 years. (b) I will keep on teaching even in small and low profile schools to gain the experience as much as possible.
