Instructional Tool al Affiliation) Role Play and Group Brainstorming as an Instruction tool My tool is the role play as method of training in a community workshop. This tool shall allow all the trainees to participate in the training process thus increasing their sense of ownership of the training process. Moreover, it creates a participatory approach towards certain issues that are directed towards facilitating the understanding of the group on the training objectives. The Tool shall involve the following steps: As the trainer, I will undertake the duty of selecting partners that shall work together without bias.

I will make efforts to ensure that persons that have shown a greater understanding of the topic and those that are still experiencing problems with regards to understanding the topic are allocated the same group. This will facilitate the learning curves of the persons facing challenges with understanding the topic under discussion. In addition, the groups shall also be set in a manner that all the characters and personalities of the trainees are accommodated.The next step that I shall undertake is to alternate the positions of the trainees in their groups with regard to their roles.

This shall ensure that at least each person is exposed to a scenario where he/she can learn the skills required to perform certain duties. These groups shall be composed of two or more people and they shall be charged with duties i.e. group leader. They shall answer questions related to training topic through group brainstorming, which shall be later discussed by all the groups after individual group discussion. I shall apply the concept of straight forward answers by making each group to focus on a specific answer.

The picture below depicts a scenario of role play in a group of two people; one is the group leader. this is a picture depicting my instructional tool that would involve creating a scenario where different groups are allocated roles to play, basically focusing answering specific questions related to training topic. This method is important in training a large number of people as it allows the trainer to effectively assess the understanding of each person within each individual group.
