1. Do you believe that Sam's family is adequately prepared for the move to Japan Why or why notI believe that while Sam has been given prior training and other aids, to adapt to the existent conditions in Japan, his family will receive a culture shock. This is due to the fact the family has not received any prior orientation, apart from a self-motivated attempt at learning the local language. 2. Should the company's orientation program have included training for Sam's familyThe company must have recognized the services of employees and provide guidance and help, in aiding them and their families to settle down amidst changing scenarios.

First comes the phase of adaptation, when the employee's family finds the environment new and different from the routine he has been subject to. They need to get used to the whole new setup, which could probably include a new language, culture, or practices in general. This could create disillusionment and slight depression. Next, they might feel like moving back home and returning to normalcy. The phase of experiencing a culture shock might take off their vigor and excitement, especially since it is for the employee and not for their own sake.

The third phase is the one when they begin to adjust to the whole situation and regains his vitality. However, the company had not undertaken any such program to get them to feel comfortable and adapt.3. Is repatriation orientation and training necessary for Sam's family on their return to the United StatesRepatriation woes do continue when the employee gets back as well. Since the employee is used to the host country conditions by then, he finds it difficult to settle back in a familiar setup.

This is also beneficial for the company. When employees return from their international program and adapt to home conditions, they turn out to be well-experienced and informed about numerous programs, policies, and fields of work. The company must surely make sue of this knowledge since it could help them scale great heights.
