 Rafael Sabatini's "The Life of Cesare Borgia" Rafael Sabatini remains one of the English and Italian novel writers who mainly concentrated in adventure and romance. His good grasp for languages enabled him master five languages at the age of five. Because of this, he was able to realize success in life just after a quarter century. This is not normal in life; however it is realistic. Prolific method of composing various books enabled him compose diverse books before his death in 1950. One of the books, which he wrote due to the revolution, is the life of the most even man in the land of Italy Cesare Borgia. The main these of these books were to highlight various problems the people of Italy faced because of the tyrannical rule of Cesare Borgia. Throughout the whole book, Sabatini attempts to revolve around his central idea revealing various occurrences in the life of Cesare Borgia. According to Sabatini, Machiavelli model and illegitimate son of Pope Alexanada VI realized the power at the age of 22 revealing reasons for the strenuous leadership (Sabatini 34). Model of a prince worked hard throughout his leadership killing people through seizing enemy states to enhance his political control. He even went against the odds marrying off his sister to other regions with the purpose of gaining stability politically. This was a case of his sister Lucretia, who he married off three times. The life Casare Borgia, therefore, is a fascinating, heartrending and at the same time touching story which has attracted attention across diverse book lovers. Apart from the life of Cesare Borgia, Sabatini was also able to realize his success through writing other book. For instance in 1915 he was able to write the Sea Hawk, which was a tale revolving around a Spanish Armada who working together with pirates of the Barbary Coast. Consequently, in 1921 he wrote Scaramouche, a French revolution tale revealing fugitive hide in Commedia dell’arte (Sabatini 67). This was a novel, which Sabatini wrote ten years after the event for security reasons. Captain Blood in 1922 was a story about many pirates, which he subsequently added two sequels of short stories. Not forgetting is Bellarion the Fortunate, which he wrote in 1926 about a cunning young individual. The man found himself engaged in politics of Italy at an early age a factor that attracted Sabatini’s attention thereby writing the book. It, therefore, is evident that the life of Cesare Borgia has accompanied books that contributed to the success of Sabatinini at a tender age. From an analysis of his writings, a revelation comes out that he mainly concentrated of factors that affected the welfare of people. From this perspective, he was able to reveal several things, which went unnoticed. This got evidenced by the adoption of some books he writes into films in the silent era when people were not allowed to talk. He, therefore, is a person remembered in the history of Italy for varied reasons (Sabatini 87). In life, people may assume non-existence of saints; however, a study of devil history reveals various scenarios and people. The life of Cesare Borgia represents a devil in human appearance. This person makes decisions based on interests, but not based on how many people will remain affected due to implementation of the plans. Borgia according to Sabatini’s book remains a high endeavor and pitiless individual using sharp contrasts with breathtaking antithesis. Consequently the vivid description and symbolism makes the book more compelling, in as much as content may be disturbing. For instance, in the preface Sabatini says, “the age of red and pale with passion” (Sabatini 123) this show the extent leaders at the time could go. The age of red represents the many lives lost in the process of realizing various themes, as well as the many people oppressed at the time. While, the pale passion, refers to the little love that leaders had for other people in the age of swift movement. The good point of this book is the fact that it gets written as a book rather than a story. The book gets segregated into various subtitles that make reading engrossing and appealing. For instance, it has the house of the bull as an introduction, which gives a brief relationship existing among various characters in the book. This also acts as a benchmark, which stabilize varied activities happening in the book. Consequently, the rise of the house of Borgia reveals the reason for the emergence of Cesare. On this part, Sabatini tries to explain to the readers the base for Borgia’s rise. According to Sabatini, the rise of Borgia was through the church. Borgia made various promotions in the church passing through a cardinal in 1444 while ascending to the throne of Saint Peter. While revealing various happenings in the life of Borgia, the reigns of sixties and innocent VII comes into notice from the book. This part shows various battle fonts that came about due to quest for control. Borgia alliances, for instance, reveal non-conformity, considering the strange and conspicuous characteristics of Riderigo (Sabatini 156). Consequently, the pontificate power of the church made a prominent position in two chief aims of Alexander VI. Through the church, Borgia was able to collect sixteen thousand ducats. In addition, he was able to gather help from the north and gain control of the throne, thereby gaining stability. For example at the north, he had Ferrante as well as Cardinal Giuliano where he took cover as a holy king. The life of Cesare Borgia notably has various historical developments. However, the author Sabatini does not have the book come out as history. He writes the book as an argument a factor that calls for a critical analysis as one reads. This helps in avoiding and overlooking pints, which remain effective. For instance, the murder of the duke of Gandia is in the book and may not seem to be necessary; however, it assists in building the tyrannical life of Borgia. Consequently, the letter of Silvio Savelli reveals cohobation activities that went about during the reign. The book by Sabatini, therefore, represents a realistic and unbiased life experienced in the early times.
