A Summary and Analysis on David Cole Interviews Franciszek Piper Introduction The denial of the Holocaust movement surfaced in Europe after the Second World War. However, with the dawn of the twenty-first century the holocaust denial has metamorphosed into an international movement. The Holocaust denial is generated by three factors. Firstly for the rehabilitation of the Nazi regime under Adolf Hitler and the establishment of the Neo-Nazi state. Secondly, for the renewal of anti-Semitism, the phenomenon of the Holocaust is denied.  Finally, the holocaust denial is a way of negating the legitimacy of Israel. (Atkins, 1) On the other hand, we find the emergence of the Holocaust industry in the late 1970s. The aim of the Holocaust industry is to seek political power and economic stability by resurrecting the memories of the Nazi genocide. The members of the American Jewish community are manipulating the Nazi history and the extermination of the Jews. To make an analytical study of this debated issue, we must refer to the revisionist blockbuster video “David Cole Interviews Franciszek Piper”. In this video, David Cole takes its spectators to the office of the Senior Curator of the Auschwitz Museum in Poland to hear Franciszek Piper’s blatant and shocking admission of the role of the Soviet in fabricating the story of the gas chamber in the Auschwitz Main Camp. The meeting of David Cole with Franciszek Piper reveals even more interesting facts associated with the Holocaust and is a severe blow to the official history of the holocaust that is based on myths. In his venture into the Auschwitz Museum, Cole first met Alicia who took him to the gas chambers. They passed the gallows where the commandant Rudolf Hoss was hanged by the Soviet Union in 1947. The first thing that Cole wanted to find out was the authenticity of the building and its reconstruction. Should we call it a ’crematorium’ or a ‘gas chamber’? Cole also inspected the holes on the ceilings. He was also curious to know whether ‘reconstruction ‘had been done or the building was in its ‘original state’ (“David Cole Interviews Dr. Franciszek Piper”). She related the story of the dropping of poisonous Zyklon-B through these chimneys. Cole cited a room without any walls and inquired about it. The guide informed that no walls had ever been knocked down. Alicia could not cope up with the numerous questions asked by Cole and then she introduced him to the supervisor of the Auschwitz State Museum. The supervisor told him that the scientist of the museum would able to tell him about the various plans that were in the archives. Cole out of his keenness to know the truth behind the holes asked the supervisor ‘originality’. She said that the holes were later additions, made after the war.  The turning point to the visit came when Cole got the privilege to meet Franciszek Piper, an expert who was responsible for lowering the Holocaust death rate. He was the contemporary of Yahuda Baur who too made a similar contribution. It was resolved in 1989 to make a public confession that a fewer people died in the Holocaust. Cole pointed out that Piper in his book, Auschwitz, ---How Many Punished? had condemned the Soviet exaggeration of the Holocaust death to around four million. According to his research work conducted the figure must be lowered to 1.1 million. Initially Piper was apprehensive to reveal any information but finally he was convinced. (“David Cole Interviews Dr. Franciszek Piper”) The first thing that occurred to Cole was to clarify his doubts regarding the gas chambers. In Piper’s opinion, the first and oldest gas chamber was in Auschwitz-I. It functioned from the autumnal moths of 1941 to December 1942. The nearby crematorium to this gas chamber was in use until the middle of 1943. It was used as an air shelter when the allied powers in 1944 threw heavy bombs on the Auschwitz-I. During that period, an additional entrance and a few walls were constructed. The story of the dropping of the Zyklon-B through the chamber was relevant in Dr. Piper’s words. However, with the liberation of the camp efforts were given to renovate the structure in keeping with the oldest plan. The inside walls were demolished, holes were constructed on the ceilings but the new door was kept. Cole hearing these accounts explicitly commented on the ‘clear deception’ on the part of the Museum authority for misleading the tourists. However, we must not forget how David Irving, a historian was fined for revealing the truth of the Holocaust. Cole was so inquisitive that he was dubious regarding the sudden halt of the operation in the gas chambers. The workings of the gas chambers must not stop if the Nazis were exterminating the Jews! Piper had answered this question in his “Auschwitz”. The inmates came to know the secretive procedures and they were shifted to the gas chamber at Auschwitz-Birkenaur camp. Alicia further deduced that because of this shift four crematoriums were built on the Auschwitz camp. Cole’s investigation into the matter was deep and to him the story of the inmates’ place where they lived and the gas chamber was near enough to be viewed by the inmates. However, Cole was of the opinion that the SS building could easily hide it from the view of the inmates. On the other hand, in the Auschwitz-Birkenaur, there was a sport field right beside the gas chambers and the inmates could easily see it. In that case, the reasons for shifting did not stand valid ground. Moreover, Cole had also pointed out that the aerial photographs of the 1970s had contradicted the claims of eyewitnesses who spoke about the Nazi trying to ‘camouflage’ the gas chambers at Birkenaur. Cole stretched out his investigation to the extent of finding the exact amount of use of the Zyklon-B gas. The forensic examination conducted under Fred Leuchter in 1988 and the research carried out by the Institute of the Forensic Research in Krakow showed that residual rate in the disinfestations rooms was high than in the gas chambers. Cole was not sure whether to trust the Soviets on the ‘faithful’ reconstruction of the gas chambers! In the magazine, “Marco Polo” Nishioka wrote, “the story of the’ gas chambers’ was used as propaganda for the purpose of psychological warfare”. (“No Gas Chambers Says Influential Japanese Magazine”) In Cole’s opinion going by Piper’s argument, we could not accept the Soviet story as they had increased the homicidal rates. According to Piper, the Soviet held the report until 1949. However, the Soviet claimed that they produced the data because the Nazis destroyed the documents pertaining to the camp. Recently they had admitted their role in providing the misleading data. In this respect the Holocaust industry played a dominant role. They had extorted over hundred billion dollars from the United States. The Germans gifted Israel’s telephone facilities, electrical operations and the railway systems. (Foner) The question of the soap story had been considered invalid. However, William shire’s movie, ‘Rise and Fall of the Third Reich”. Piper had supported this soap story of the Nazis using the bodies of the Jews for making soaps. Piper actually diplomatically handles the soap incident when interrogated by Cole. He said that such attempts were made by the Nazis to do such act. Cole while analyzing the various documentations on the gas chambers brought into light Jeanne-Claude Pressac’s refutation of the Holocaust revisionism.  Franciszek Piper is a Polish scholar and historian. His works are centered on the Second World War and the Jewish history of zenith and nadir. He is one of those historians who have tried to give the accurate number of the Jews exterminated and assassinated in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps. His research work shows that about 1.1 million people were killed in those camps and out of them 1 million people were the Jews. Cole through his interaction with Franciszek Piper has wanted to find out the truth behind the Nazi policies, the extermination of the Jews and the various myths associated with it.
