Download file to see previous pages The group of voters during Presidential elections consists of 435 electors appointed by the states, (their number is determined by the number of Congress members), 3 electors from the District of Columbia and 100 senators. Only they can take part in Presidential elections. This fact makes the issue rather complicated as it appears that in order to have a right to vote for the President you should first be elected by the citizens.
There are three political directions in the United States: Republicans, Democrats and Libertarians.. Republicans have democratic views, but they still value the government very high, while Democrats give the reins to government. Liberians state that a person should be independent and do what he/ she wants if he does not violate the law. They do not recognize the excessive interference of the government into the market economy. If an individual wants to be independent he/she does not vote for a party, but votes for a separate person. Actually, the great number of citizens prefers to be independent and do not want to share the interests or this or that political party. That is why more and more people state that a presence of Electoral College makes The United States less democratic. I share these views. The most developed country in the world, which propagates democracy as the foundation of its high position and success should give all the citizens of the country an opportunity to take a part in their future President and Vice President Elections. Our President should be elected by all the citizens as “by the people for the people”.
