The French Foreign Legion A Research Essay Proposal For: The French Foreign Legion This research essay is about the French foreign legion. The French foreign legion was established in the year 1832 and is a military wing that is part of the French army. The French foreign legion is unique in that it was meant for foreign citizens who were willing to serve in the armed forces of the French.1 The essay will discuss the current structure of the French foreign legion, focusing on its position in the military complex of the French.

2 The essay will focus on the creation of the French foreign legion, which involved royal ordinance.3 It will also focus on the purpose for the creation of this legion which include; addressing the threat of protesters who stimulated political instability and contributed to the colonial accomplishments in Algeria.4 The other purpose for the creation of the legion, which will be discussed in the essay, is the formation of a government policy that intended to remove potential protestors from France.

5To do this, studies concerning the French foreign legion will be conducted, and primary source documents giving an insight to the French foreign legion will be used for reference. Secondary sources applicable to this topic will be used for reference, and scholarly articles exploring this topic will be used for reference.
