Value of Art to the People Europe Description of Piece of Art The best description that can be given to this piece of art is a cross-like piece of jewelry. The two bars forming the cross are made of topaz with pellets of glass diamond lined up from the top to the bottom and left to right sides of the cross. The pellets of glass diamond are shaped to represent a rosary and indeed the combination of topaz and glass diamond gives the piece of art a glittering beauty. Value of Art to the People The piece of art is a religious symbol that signifies the cross on which Jesus Christ is believed to have died. The people believe that the death of Jesus Christ is a basis for their salvation and so they value the death of Christ more than anything else (Kershaw, 2011). To this end the piece of art serves them a memory of what they normally refer to as the sacrifice of Christ and so as it would naturally be expected, the value the sacrifice and thus the art dearly. Notion about the People The notion I develop about the people is that they are highly religious with so much emphasis on the Christian religion. From the piece of art I saw and how carefully the people have invested into the beauty and glamour of the art, it will not be out of place to say that most of the people are Christians who cherish the sacrifice of their religious leader highly. Again, I get the notion that even though there may as many popular cultures associated with the people, they are more inclined to their religious concepts than other aspects of their lives. Asia Description of Piece of Art There were two major components of the piece of art that was seen. The first has to do with the scene of an oval vessel with a sealed base. The vessel is made of clay and so could be said to be a ceramic art. The vessel can therefore hold water and food. The second scene is a tripod that has been made of stone. The color of the vessel and the stones are the same but there has been any color used to create other designs on the vessel. Value of Art to the People Looking closely at the piece of art, one can tell how the people value the availability of food and water, which are two of the major needs for human existence. However, the piece of art preaches that food and water can be made available only when the people come together as a collective force; as in the case of the tripod to work together. Indeed, the vessel cannot stand if any of the three stones is removed. Notion about the People From the value of the art to the people, I get a notion that the people are highly hard working and believe in the virtue of unity. It is not surprising there is the saying among the Chinese, who are also Asians that in unity is strength. The Japanese who are also Asians have a saying that it is easier to break a piece of broom but not a bundle of broom. It is not surprising that the sense of hard work and unity among the people have made them highly self sufficient even though they hold the highest human population among the other masses of land (Jacobson, 2007). Africa Description of Piece of Art The piece of art that I saw in the mass of land known as Africa was made of a large piece of wood. This piece of wood was shaped into a vulture that had its baby at its back. Strangely, the piece of art looks very colorful but no external paint or color. The artists had crafted the designs and colors from the original colors of the wood that was used in making the vulture. Value of Art to the People Indeed, the fact that a wood, which is a creature of the natural world, was used to design a vulture, which is also a creature of the natural world, I get the strongest feeling that the people value the natural world greatly and give it so much attention and recognition. It is not surprising that Africa has the world’s largest natural resources, made up rain forest, wild life, mountains, water bodies and so on. Notion about the People The notion I get about these people is that they are the type who value the gifts of nature so much and would anything possible to protect them. They people are proud of what nature has given to them in terms of the natural forest and the wildlife. It is not surprising that most of these people depend on these things for their daily and constant livelihood. Even though some may see their adherence to the gifts of nature as primitive, the people of Africa are proud of themselves as the custodians of nature’s beauty and pride themselves as the firstborns of nature (Shepherd, 2011). America Description of Piece of Art The piece of art seen on the American continent was one that was made of metal. It was an inscription on a metal plate. The inscription on the metal plate was actually the drawing of a medieval weapon. The art was made of two major colors. One of the colors took up the background of the metal while the other one was mainly for the medieval weapon that was inscribed on the metal. Value of Art to the People Judging from the fact that this piece of art was actually made in the 1500s when most States in America were then fighting for their liberation and independence, the value of the art in relation to the people that I get is that the people are more focused on the fight for their rights and freedom. Indeed, people on this mass land would not want to be intimidated at all and so hold the art in high esteem as a memory of the cost they paid for their independence. Notion about the People The piece of art gives me so many notions about these people in the American continent. I get the notion that these are people who hold their independence in high esteem and would not want to lose sight of how valuable it was for them to get the independence. Consequently, they would go every extent to ensuring that other people even get their own independence. They therefore see themselves as the custodians for world independence (Shepherd, 2011). Concluding Advice Based on the diversity of art works seen on the different continents, there is no denying the fact that the earth has come far as long as cultural, religious, and socio-economic developments are concerned. To this end, there is every justification in including the earth in the Alliance of Planets so that they can use their advanced knowledge in helping people from the other planets also in advancing in their knowledge in arts and culture. What is more, the earth today has the potential of doing even more when it comes to arts and culture as it has now found technology, with which almost everything is done in a far better and advanced way (Kowalski, 2010).
