"American History"

King participation in civil rights movement started in 1955 until his death. The Montgomery Bus Boycott was crucial to his entry into the movement. King involvement led to international focus on the role of the movements in United States and the rest of the world. Most of King Focus was on discrimination, mistreatment and voiced against the Vietnam War. This paper seeks to focus on the Martin Luther King Junior role in the civil rights movement. Martin Luther King had strong attitudes and beliefs. He believed that their goals were only achievable through non-violent movement. He advocated for non-violent way in pursuit of justice and equality. He also believed in equality before the eyes of God. His ideal was that black and whites are equal. His reaction was geared towards ending of discriminatory activities in the society. This led him to organising various non-violent movements to fight segregation and discrimination in the society of the day. These were the main ideals of his civil rights movement. King had well calculated strategy and tactics in support of the civil rights. Through his oratory skills, he embarked on recruiting people to join in protesting based on the discontent and unjust society. This strategy worked out in the Montgomery bus boycott. This form of mass action ensured that the majority of the blacks did not enter the bus. Read More
