Canada offers all its citizens universal health care, regardless of their income. Unlike the American health care system, in Canada one cannot be denied treatment because he or she does not have medical insurance. Figure 1. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Besides medical support, Canadian immigration rules foster family unity and support. People immigrating to Canada can bring their families with them including their children. 40% of the annual immigration to Canada comes under the family reunion and refugee programs .The country’s economic benefits include social support for people who are unemployed or otherwise struggling. Furthermore, those with children are guaranteed child benefits. What’s more, once an immigrant acquires resident status, he or she can help bring over his or her family by sponsoring parents and siblings. Another important advantage is that within three years of being an immigrant in Canada, the person is granted permanent resident status. Permanent residents are entitled to most of the rights and privileges of Canadian citizens. These include equal treatment and equal protection, equal legal rights, freedom of movement from province to province, etc. While most of these rules also apply to temporary Canadian residents, there are some that are exclusive to citizens and permanent residents. These are Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB), retirement benefits like old age security, guaranteed income supplement and Canada pension (Berez, 2007). Besides the abovementioned privileges that I received in Canada, my positive opinion of Canada has also been shaped by school, family, teachers, and the...
To begin with, “Canada is among the world's foremost refugee resettlement countries and is signatory to international agreements that affirm its commitment to the protection of refugee rights”.
Secondly, Canada offers many benefits to its permanent residents. Commenting on the Canadian immigration policy, Kaur says that Canadian government is interested in the country’s growth and development and its point system helps to bring in highly skilled foreign workers. According to the United Nations Department of Economics and Social Affairs, Canada is the fifth most popular country for people to migrate, the first one being the United States of America.
Canada has also been shaped by school, family, teachers, and the media, through socialization. Socialization helps people operate successfully and with ease in their social lives. This process takes place via interaction with family members, teachers, schools, and media. When I moved to Canada, my family gave me all-encompassing support. They were my first friends in Canada, which made everything look okay. Before making friends, I would stay back at home and watch the television. This assisted me a lot in seeing how the Canadians lead their lives and in understanding of their culture and norms. The media made it much easier for me as it gave me a rough idea of what I should expect from the Canadians. The internet, newspapers and radio also helped me improve my social norms. The significance of school in socialization cannot be overlooked due to the fact that students spend there about seven hours a day. There, besides studying, the students perform many activities and play games, and this plays a significant role in their socialization. ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

...This I Believe. I believe that extraterrestrial life exists in this universe. A public debate continues on the scientific theories for and against this belief, and on the controversies regarding ‘alien abductions’ and UFO sightings. Opposing groups of scientists are making contradictory claims and counter-claims. There does not seem to be any hope of an early agreement on this issue. I am a keen follower of this debate, and continue to weigh the merits of different points of view. However, I personally believe that extraterrestrial life does exist in some form or the other in this vast Cosmos. Based on my vision of the...

...?Something that I strongly believe is in the value of volunteer work. It is important for people to give back to the community. Volunteer work can have a lasting impact in the lives of the volunteers and the recipients of the services. When a person gives something out of the goodness of their heart they are rewarded with the self satisfaction of knowing that their actions here on earth are positively affecting our society. As times have gotten harder for American families it has become more important for people to directly contribute to the social problems society faces. There are thousands of non-profit organizations that are looking of people to donate their time. Getting starting is not as difficult...

.... Our women volunteers have readied it, especially for Mr. Patterson. Exactly after 120 seconds, Mr. Patterson asks me politely, “Can I know your final answer?” I summon courage. I must answer to at least one of the four questions tendered by Mr. Patterson. “You see Mr. Patterson, I do not count the roses, and I go by their fragrance. That lifts my spirits up and gives inner joy. They are the spiritual entities to me. I hope you like them.” “I do,” he says with a broad smile, “and I love your answer too!” Handing over the envelope to me he says, “This I Believe, your organization richly deserves. ...Ken dean Lawadinata English 101 I BELIEVE I believe that in every loss we experience a benefit, which comes out of it as long as we do not give up. As a child I was taught by my parents that “It is quiet misleading winning all the time, because series of victories will make a person look at himself as a symbol embossed with pride and ego”. Their idea was to explain me that successful winning might lead to give least importance to other essential things in life. We should always, and of course, aim for the pinnacle, but during those times we must not be contemptuous to take a look at what we have crossed and just spare at least a little...

...I Believe it’s Important to Exercise I know there are many people who think they get enough exercise during their day that they don’t need to make special time for it. It is hard to set aside a block of time to do something that is hard, that makes you tired and sweaty and then you have to take a shower before you can do anything else. Exercise is important, though, if you want to have a healthy body, if you want to look good and, more important, if you want to feel good. Doctors have been saying for a long time that exercise is important if you want to have a healthy body. People used to have to exercise a lot just to survive because catching or...

...their psyche and body imbalanced. Thus, I believe that in order for these self-loathing and self-pitying people to get back on their feet and regain what they have lost, it is vital that they first must regain their self-respect, so they could have a better outlook for the rest of their lives. One of the most common examples of people that seem to sacrifice too much of their selves for the sake of others are the shy and servile employees that are always put behind others due to lack of assertion skills. These persons let just about anyone tell what to do, what to wear, what to eat, how to work, and so on, along with getting unfair and inhumane treatment from others without complaints....

...This I Believe Teacher               This I Believe: The Need to Act Tough (Self-Knowledge) I used to live in a suburban area where boys where taught how to be tough and rough, or at least, that was how the culture was in our place. Boys were taught to fight, wear tattoos, smoke and drink early and even make their moves on girls while they are still really young. This is not, however, what I believe a man should be. It is good to be tough when you’re a man but it is a different thing to fight, wear tattoos, drink and have girls even at middle school. I believe a young man should learn how...

True friendship is the feeling of being comfortable with another person, a unique blend of love, affection, respect, and trust. It is when one does not think twice and measure words before sharing with a friend. They understand the real you and do not have to be told when a friend is down and one can always rely on them.
