Controversy Introduction United s has been surrounded with many controversial issues but amongst them there are few such issues that have gained importance in the society. The factor of controversy arises when there are views that are contradicting. The major controversy that is been faced by United States is healthcare issue. The murder rate is one such issue that separates this country from the rest of the world but apart from this the other controversial issue is its lack of healthcare in universal context. The controversy is about the fact that there is certain population that considers the healthcare system to be very poor in this country and on the other hand there are organizations such as WHO which considers United States as first rank holder in terms of healthcare system. Discussion In the year 2010 there were 16.3% of the population of United States who were lacking proper healthcare coverage. The most common reason behind such issue is the cost factor as the cost increases healthcare provisions towards people decreases. However figures clearly states that United States is one such nation that spends high amount per capita and even in terms of GDP percentage towards healthcare facilities. There are other nations that spend less than United States but at the same time they provide more healthcare coverage. In the world this country is ranked as 37th by WHO majorly because of two factors such as life expectancy and infant mortality. The country overall spends less as stated by its rank and is aligned with the aspect that huge medical expenses leads to a country’s bankruptcy. This problem has no uniform solution as the healthcare reforms by Obama are been supported by one-third of total population and on the other hand Republic leadership implements schemes so as to reverse the entire scenario (Greenwald, 2010). The problem statement of this controversy is that United States has always aimed at being the superior amongst all the nations and in order to do so it has spent enormously. The amount that has been spending by the government to bring forth reforms in the healthcare sector has made the facilities not affordable by majority of the population. The problem lies in the area that the entire population is not getting proper health coverage that is bringing into spotlight the controversy of healthcare in United States. It can even be stated that as per the spending by the country the coverage rate is very low in comparison to other nations. The problem even is linked with the believes and thought process of the citizens where there are some that supports the healthcare reforms but a certain percentage even focuses towards creating more adverse effects on the system. The income level of the population of this country is not in equal distribution which makes it impossible for the citizens to afford such highly expensive healthcare facilities. The history of the issue relates to the times when the country faced serious healthcare problems and even needed to outsource facilities from beyond the borders. The conflict is regarding the aspect that organizations such as WHO ranks the United States as one of the best nations in terms of healthcare facilities but there are desirable percentage of people who are not receiving proper medical facilities or health coverage (Braselton, 2007).The affordability issue is completely neglected by the healthcare organizations and this gives rise to conflicts. The one side of the conflict is that there needs to be healthcare reforms while the other part of the conflict is the highly expensive healthcare systems and unavailability of proper health coverage for all the Americans. The cultural factors often form the basis of many such controversial issues. The issue that has been highlighted is in context of healthcare systems. The culture often plays a critical role in such an issue. The culture prevailing in the society often guides the opinions and decisions of individuals. The culture of United States has not been uniform there exist certain segment of the population that supports such reforms in healthcare facilities though there is lack in health coverage and on the contrary the affordability issue is considered to be superior by some individuals. The culture of this country is aligned towards the factor that this nation needs to be superior across the globe. The coverage is a problem for the government as it believes that excess of expenditure in this particular field often leads to bankruptcy situation of the country. The major cultural factor that has enhanced this issue is the diverse population present in the country (McLean, 2013).The mindset of the higher authority is towards development of the healthcare and this has been clearly depicted through their spending per capita. However they fail to realize the issue that is surrounding the majority of population in terms of opting for such facilities. This cultural aspect eventually tends to worsen the situation majorly because of the fact that there is no concrete agreement amongst the majority of the population and the government regarding this particular issue. The issue would seem to magnify as people would not be satisfied with the healthcare provisions and government spending would keep on increasing towards this particular sector. The issue of healthcare which has been addressed as a controversial issue is likely to affect the different parts of the society differently. In an attempt to be the leading nation in terms of facilities being offered to the public United States has been ignoring some of the minor issues that have turned to be vital in the present scenario. The healthcare issue is affecting majorly the middle and lower income group of people in the country. There are millions of people in the country who are suffering from various healthcare problems due to the expensive facilities that is been offered by the nation. Apart from United States there are nations who are not spending such high sum of money but are offering the best medical coverage to the entire population (Shi & Stevens, 2010).This eventually leads to more controversial situation and the ruling party and opposing party instead of counteracting the situation is aligned towards making their individual healthcare proposal turn to be more beneficial for the citizens. This issue is not bound to affect the entire country equally as there exist diversity amongst the population. The higher section of the society would not be affected by such issue as it would be in favor of them and the increasing cost is not a vital factor that is taken by them into consideration. Hence, in this problem it can be stated that the weaker section of the society would be the ones who would be greatly affected by such healthcare issue and majorly because of the lack of coverage provided by the government (Kominski, 2013).The factor of healthcare is becoming so dangerously unaffordable by the maximum percentage of United States population due to the unwillingness towards change in status quo. Conclusion United States which is considered to be one of the most powerful nations across the globe faces a lot of controversial issues. The current issue that is been faced by the country is the healthcare issue which has led to serious conflicts in the country. The diverse population of the country has enhanced the complexity of this controversial issue. The cultural factor that is prevailing in the country is also triggering the intensity of the issue. The lack of health coverage to the citizens and the affordability issues has given rise to the controversy that the healthcare facilities is developed so as to satisfy the greed, special interests, political factors and to maintain the status quo.
