There is a belief that competition in health care markets can be achieved through uncontrolled costs. However, Swartz (42) asserts that market failure is the reason as to why the current health care crisis exists. This paper will, therefore, talk about these issues by focusing on the effects of a disintegrated healthcare organization to tackle the requirement for a health care reform. Questions as to whether the health care reform is the best solution to the current health care statue continues to emerge.

However, whichever the case, it is a duty of the centralized regime to get involved. According to Swartz (42), four critical issues have resulted in the need for a health care reform to streamline the existing one. These are the inadequacy of universal access to health care and services and unprecedented costs involved in securing this care and services. This adds up to the ever-decreasing capability, of the majority of the population to afford the care and services and the variable and low-quality care offered.

However, the increased accessibility to this health care and services seem to be the most severe problem that the federal government has to manage According to a Gallup poll, it has been estimated that almost 16% of the American population was not covered under an insurance health program between January and February 2007(O’Brien and Flannery, 66). This trend developed further in 2008 as the economy declined. Nevertheless, there is an increase in the aging population that needs a lot of care and hold up for their survival.

Therefore, this increase in their numbers poses a sure crisis in the healthcare organization. This is further emphasized by the increase in technology that is leading to the development of sophisticated pieces of equipment that in turn weigh on the fee for service payments. This is, in an addition to, the increasing administrative costs and a rise in cases of chronic conditions such as cancer and diabetes (O’Brien and Flannery, 66).
