 The Art and Craft of Human Care Biomedical profession gives golden opportunity to explore and unfold the art and craft of human care. This fabulous and fascinating branch attracted me in the childhood itself. I am very much interested in innovation and invention through integrating engineering principles into biological and medical systems to find cures for many diseases; make breakthrough in research; and solve pertinent impediments facing the biomedical field today. Recent major breakthroughs in bioengineering, particularly growing of tissue and organs such as solid jawbones, tracheas and bladders coupled with differentiating motor neurons from stem cells inspires me. Other advances in biomedical engineering such as developing artificial organs and engineering cultures and tissues for the supply of hormone and other critical drugs, heavily gravitated me toward biomedical engineering. An extraordinary caring yet adventurous attitude to help people always excites me. Consequently, I have decided to continue my study at Princeton University in biomedical engineering. The work experience, research or training that I will acquire during the course of this program will help me to get a head start in my career. The challenge of researching and analyzing an unknown subject is the most enjoyable part of academic life. I am eagerly waiting to become a part of this dynamic culture which will give me a leading edge to work effectively in diverse teams and situations. I hope to transfer to biomedical engineering to meet the challenges and needs in the biological and medical world in the foreseeable future. I would be privileged to thrive at a professional level in intellectually stimulating environment of biomedical profession. Human mankind always is in the search of enhancing his standards of living based on scientific principles. Biology with engineering technology are sophisticated techniques to achieve healthy future. It has impacted on all the kingdoms from microbes to humans. Particularly, I intend to use monoclonal antibody technology to treat various diseases; antisense technology to carryout protein function analysis in control of viral diseases; protein engineering technology to create new proteins that enhances cellular functions; genetic engineering technology to introduce new genetic instructions to enhance cellular functions; recombinant DNA technology to produce new and more beneficial vaccines and drugs; create artificial organs and researching and inventing methods for creating these organs; alter gene structure and characteristics by using molecular cloning and transformation to improve crop technology; produce synthetic human insulin by modifying bacteria; manufacture erythropoietin from animal cells; design various implants to replace missing and/or defective biological tissues and structures. I have a keen interest in pursuing biomedical engineering to achieve these tasks. Moreover, my career goal is to become an engineer, actively developing strategies that bestows and ameliorates contemporary biomedical engineering practices. These reasons act as impetus as I pursue my academic ambitions. From my childhood, I have a strong desire to be successful in academics. I am fully convinced that a strong foundation in undergraduate education is required for studying engineering at graduate level. I had a firm foundation in biological sciences at my undergraduate level and this prepares me to enter this new level of education. I am fully equipped to apply engineering principles in addressing challenges in biology and medicine principles in the full spectrum of the biological world, particularly in, molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, cytology, immunology, neurobiology, and neuroscience. My broad knowledge footing obtained during undergraduate studies in the diverse spheres of biology, provides me with ample knowledge to pursue biomedical engineering. This diverse knowledge in biology will greatly assist me in solving problems in the biomedical world. I have not only obtained in-depth knowledge in different fields in biology, but I also have decent background knowledge in computer science and chemistry, which will definitely help me during biomedical engineering. Moreover, during my undergraduate study, I worked as a research assistant in a professor’s lab. Through this experience, I have gained both technical skills and clearer theoretical understanding; necessary in bioengineering research and in application of principles and techniques of biomedical engineering. Furthermore, I was actively involved in a research project in ecology. My duties were collecting, appraising, and analyzing data obtained through experiments. Similarly, the experience has greatly improved my skills in data input and analysis. This experience has equipped me with crucial accomplishments valuable in applying biological principles in researches. I was impressed with the intricacy and meticulous procedures, the need for precision when working in small spaces, the technicalities, challenges, and need for patience. The involvement in campus groups was an exceptional experience to develop leadership and team work skills. Under these duties, I have gained substantial skill and knowledge in introducing and implementing solutions to solve problems in today’s biological and medical world. I have learnt the importance of the interdependence and dynamic interactions among the team members for achieving amicable solutions and success. I have realized the role of idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration for the professional success. Cohesive efforts, collaborative knowledge, and good communication skills plays indispensable role in the biomedical engineering field to adopt certain strategy. To harness the power of useful inventions, developments, and solutions in science and technology, the diverse skills has to be utilized appropriately to come up with any meaningful achievement. Bill Gates effectively introduce and implement windows technology to get rid of complicated languages to communicate with and operate computers. My skills and practical experiences are a rare combination that enables individuals to implement and introduce science and technology in society. These foster efforts are geared towards solving problems in biomedical engineering. An engineer has to effectively and efficiently utilize the available technology as well as breakthrough to achieve his or her ambition. My skills in computer technology and chemistry places me in a better position to master new technologies and apply them in biomedical engineering. I believe that solid and specialized knowledge along with ingenuity are critical and key components of an engineer, along with the experience. I have prepared myself to strive for the best to get educated and trained to invent creative solutions to problems facing in biomedical science at Princeton Engineering. Your esteemed University has the size and diversity of the highly qualified faculty as well as the availability of varied courses.
