Fetal growth and impaired glucose tolerance in men and women FETAL GROWTH AND IMPAIRED GLUCOSE TOLERANCE IN MEN AND WOMEN AbstractA fetal growth is related to the impaired glucose tolerance in both men and women. This is evidence of the scientific study that was carried out to determine this relationship. The primary objective of the study was to identify whether there is any relationship between reduced fetal growth and development of impaired glucose tolerance in women and men. During the study, 126 women and 140 men were subjected to study.

The study was carried out in Preston (Lancashire, Uk) in the year 1935 up to the year 1943 (Phipps, 1993, 226). Their sizes at birth were measured. The results showed that those who had non-insulin dependent diabetes and impaired glucose tolerance had smaller head circumference, thinner at birth and also had lower birth weight compared to those with normal glucose statuses. It is imperative that women in the pregnancy stages are fed well so as to avoid this fetal growth in their children. Results of the study and their significance in today’s institutions of healthDifference (with-without)Men (with-14,without-126)Women(with-20,without-106Total(with34,without-232)95% level of confidenceSex adjustedp-value Height (m)-0.062-0.045-0.01717%0.0001Weight(kgs)8.92.235.19.2%0.

It shows that glucose vary with individuals according to the regions where they come from. The percentage of glucose varies also with season and time.
