HIV/AIDS disease This report is based on the current statistics, prevalence of the HIV/AIDS disease and current social work interventions that are implemented to alleviate the disease. All the recent statistics are by the WHO and UNICEF is being analyzed in the analysispart. All the major interventions implemented by governments and NGOs are being analyzed. The entire necessary factors for the prevalence of the disease are being discussed in the discussion part. Lastly the research paper concluded the important facts and points. Introduction AIDS is the acquired immune deficiency syndrome which is predominantly caused by the HIV virus. In the year 1983 and 1984, the immunodeficiency virus was discovered in France and United States of America respectively. It is regarded as the fatal disease that can destroy the immune system of human body. The immunodeficiency virus is much more dangerous as it is so small that it cannot be visible through microscope. The Human Immuno Deficiency virus can remain in dead body for years without showing any symptoms of being visible. The last of stage of disease to be infected is AIDS as it requires almost 10 years span of time to get infected and finally reaching the development of the AIDS disease. AIDS disease infected many people around the, but most unfortunate news is that it is still incurable. HIV targets cellular immune system of human body. The disease enables to decrease the immune system of the body to fight against infection which later causes cancer. Many public education, awareness and prevention of AIDS programs has been developed everywhere around the world to bring out possible solution to reduce AIDS. This research paper will discuss about the optimum use of current statistics and current social work interventions to prevail the HIV/AIDS issue. Analysis There has been lot of diseases throughout the history that caused severe alteration towards the environmental condition of the world and community. Every disease is more catastrophic than that of others. AIDS is one of the most catastrophic and preeminent disease in the world. AIDS is the acquired immune deficiency syndrome which is caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Every human body has immune defense system that helps to defend against any virus. But HIV virus destroys the immune system of body and enables AIDS to spread around the body. AIDS nit only enables to decrease the immune system but also suppress the multiplication of cancer cells. Body has certain cells which manufacture antibodies such as bone marrow, lymph glands, spleen and lymphocytes. But AIDS affects the special blood cells and destroys it which would have protected against cancer. Some of the current statically researched and prevalence of the HIV AIDS are being discussed. In United States, more than 1.1 million people are infected by HIV virus. From 1.1 million people, every 1 people out of 6 are not aware of the infection that could be so harmful (AIDS, 2012). Due to the racial discrimination blacks and African Americans are most affected by HIV. The estimation revealed by CDC that 1,144,500 people who are aged 13 and are older than 13 are all affected by the HIV virus. CDC also estimated that people who are unaware of the HIV infection and its calamity are 15.8% which is 180,900 people. The people living with HIV infection has been increased considerably over the past decade. But the overall annual numbers of the amount of people that are being infected remain stable over the recent number of years. CDC estimated that about 50,000 people are being infected by HIV every year. Some of the groups of people are being affected more than that of the other groups such as African American groups are more seriously disproportionately affected by HIV infection. In the year 20111, it has been diagnosed in United States that more than 49,273 people are being affected by HIV virus. It was estimated that more than 32,052 are suffering from AIDS. In United States, overall estimation of the number of people affected by AIDS is 1,155,792. In the year 2012, the number of people estimated that are dead due to AIDS are 15,529. The most burdens faced due to HIV infection are mainly experienced by Black Americans. In the year 2012, it is estimated that 44% of the people those represent Black lead to new HIV infections. The recent latest statistics by UNICEF and WHO reveals the total number of people dead and suffering from HIV AIDS. In the end of year 20111, it is estimated that around 34 million people around the world are living with HIV AIDS (Avert, 2014). 2.5 million People are new those are affected by HIV AIDS. 3.3 million Children are affected by HIV AIDS and are living. In the year 2011, it is estimated that 1.7 Million people die from AIDS. Every region in the world share number of people suffering from HIV AIDS and living with the infection. In the year 1990, it was estimated that people living with AIDS were 8 million but the number gradually increased in the year 2011 as it was estimated to 34 million. The increase in awareness among people to receive antiretroviral therapy has helped to reduce the rate of number of new people those are being affected by the virus. In the end of the year, 23.5 million of adults and children are living HIV infection in the Sub-Saharan Africa region. In the Caribbean region the numbers of people living with HIV infection are less which is 230,000 people. 4 million people are living with AIDS infection the South-East Asia. In the year 1981, the first case of AIDs was observed. From that year till now more than 25 million people have died due to the HIV AIDS infection. The total numbers of people that are currently living with HIV AIDS are 33.4 million people of total population. 97% percent of people suffering from AIDS reside in Sub-Saharan Africa (Palmiere & Grant, 2001). Many social work interventions implemented and deployed to take initiative to prevent and reduce HIV AIDS. The vital element to tackle HIV AIDS is to build partnerships between, local, global and national. In the year 1991, visual AIDS conceived the red ribbon campaign which is also knows as AIDS Awareness Ribbon. The campaign was established by the New York based group of charity to fight against the AIDS. The red ribbon symbolizes the commitment and solidarity. The main part of the national campaign is to provide knowledge and education to the teenagers about proper sex and possible outcome of AIDS. Awareness program and Education has been implemented by the WHO and NGOS to fight against the HIV infection. Many social workers have been employed to provide effective care and support to the people who are suffering from HIV disease. And council other people to provide wider knowledge about HIV AIDS. Social workers can be youth worker, community worker, resident worker and caring child worker. The main role of social worker is to enable people who are suffering from AIDS disclose about the infection to their parents and close friends, raise public awareness about the precaution taken to reduce the infection, pre and post HIV test should be easily accessible by the people.Several internal workplace programs have been initiated in both public and private sector to achieve the objective of reducing AIDS. Now-a-days, several media campaign has been started such as Behavioral change intervention and concentrating to focus on the target youth segments and increasing awareness among people to provide knowledge about the vulnerability of AIDS. Several strategies implemented to reduce the use of drugs that can lead to transmission of HIV.The implementation of various HIV programs by CDC and minister of health enables to sustainable and healthy system. More than 75 countries have been utilizing the AIDS campaign. The global AID program initiated by CDC consists of highly trained health advisors, physician, scientists and epidemiologists. GAP coordinated with CDC to look after the health services around the world. The American psychological association implemented several policies and HIV research center and prevention intervention to provide care and solution to prevent the HIV AIDS virus. 150,000 educators, students and researcher in The American psychological association have developed National HIV AIDS Strategy. The strategy provides long term benefit to reduce the ratio of people dying due to the epidemic disease and creating awareness among the people. The global HIV AIDS Program is also operated by the Health Resource and services administration. This global program would help to strengthen the human resource and health system globally. Discussion The major concern for government is to prevail and prevent the catastrophic disease which is HIV AIDS. More than 50 million people are affected by AIDS. The main reason behind the transmission of AIDS is sexual activity. The current statistics reveals that despite the ominous sign of the death ratio due to HIV virus there are some promising sign. There are several drawbacks that can affect the individual suffering from AIDS. People living with HIV can substantially affect the community and development of the country. Still there is no cure for this dangerous virus. But new global efforts and campaign helped to reduce the number of new HIV infected people. There have been significant decline in the HIV prevalence rate and new infected people. In the year 2008, it has been revealed that the number of people looking for HIV treatment in the poorer resourced countries has been increased to 4 million. There is no solution that would cure AIDS but most appropriate way to nullify it by prevention and knowledge. The awareness among the new generation is the best solution to prevent the dangerous infection. People often forget to use any protection during sexual intercourse. The awareness program would enable individual to provide knowledge about the necessities and possible way to fight the stigma. People needed to educate to have safe sex which would reduce the risk factor of increase in infected person. Prevention of AIDS is possible by joining of the government agencies and NGOS to set up campaign and public awareness program. National HIV/AIDS Strategy implemented by the White House in the year 2010 to achieve the target of reducing HIV/AIDS (Holtgrave, 2010). Several proven strategies deployed by the HIV prevention community are antiretroviral therapy, treatment on sexually transmitted infection and HIV testing. The approach to implement proven strategies would enable future free HIV disease. The HIV/AIDS prevention division started by CDC would help to prevent the spread of HIV disease and promote healthier quality of life. The HIV/AIDS strategy implemented by CDC will help to reduce the annual number of infection, HIV transmission and increase awareness among the people. Red ribbon campaign was started in the year 1991. This campaign promotes several campaign and advertisement to create awareness among the people and use of safety precaution during sex. Sex education provided to the younger generation. Several efforts have been made to reduce the transmission of AIDS/HIV infection from mother-to-child. In the year 2009, it has been surveyed that more than 370,000 children are being affected by the mother-to-child infection transmission. Several guidelines released by WHO which provides safety knowledge about the prevention of ART, infant feeding and MTCT. Several highly interventions are providing in the guidelines which helps to resource limited countries to reduce the mother-to-child transmission of infection. Several treatments are provided to the sexually transmitted infection people, which helped to reduce the risk of HIV transmission. Several campaigns initiated by the WHO and other NGOS helped to increase the usage of condoms which can provide effective form for the prevention of HIV/AIDS infection (Yehia & Frank, 2011). Conclusion It is clear from above analysis and discussion that tackling the spread of HIV/AIDS can be fragile process but the implementation of several campaigns and strategies can eventually help to reduce HIV transmission. Human immunodeficiency virus is the highly variable virus which leads to AIDS. This disease breaks down the entire immune system of human body. Joint efforts have been made by collaboration of CDC and WHO and other NGOS to widespread the education of preventing the virus globally. Several strategy engagements implemented for the prevalence of the high risk of HIV transmission and HIV spread. It is joint responsibility of every individual to not discriminate the religion, caste and creed of the particular individual suffering from AIDS. Two most pivotal weapons to fight against AIDS are awareness and education. HIV/AIDS needs to be nullified to continue the development of the world and save the lives of millions of people.
