Discussions unit 9 Discussions unit 9 Cardiovascular disease is the primary death source in America, while pulmonary diseaseis the fourth prime cause of death. The two medical conditions are described as any ailment that affects the lung or heart’s capability to operate normally. This paper will discuss four separate questions associated with cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases.Question 1 Health risks of cardiovascular and pulmonary diseaseCausesSmoking has caused numerous deaths due to lung cancer.
Smoking makes the heart vessels to narrow, thereby makings smoker more vulnerable to a heart attack than those who do not smoke. There is an increased chance of heart diseases in people with high blood pressure or hypertension. Lifestyle changes can promote lower blood pressure. Such changes include low alcohol intake, healthy diet, regular exercise, and losing excess weight.High amounts of cholesterol in the body also contribute to heart problems. Plaque development in the body is caused by too much fat in an individual’s diet.
The human body produces sufficient cholesterol for the body’s needs. Cholesterol can be managed through proper diet and exercise. The risk of suffering coronary heart disease is enhanced by being obese or overweight. Obesity is mainly a hazard when it is part of the metabolic syndrome (Howley & Franks, 2007). Additionally, diet plays an essential role in weight management. Diet controls salt and weight intake that add to high blood pressure. Being physically inactive also promotes heart diseases.
Lack of frequent exercise such as walking, swimming, and walking may increase the chances of heart sickness.EffectsThe existence of a heart disease will damage the exchange of oxygen in the body, thereby hampering the lung’s and heart’s function causing a reduction in exercise tolerance. Moreover, a patient may suffer a heart attack when the flow of blood is impeded. Cardiovascular disease can also lead to stroke when the clotting blood reaches the brain. In addition, patients who suffer a heart attack can be adversely depressed and ultimately die.
Question 2 Modifications and considerations for testing cardiovascular and pulmonary diseaseExercise testing is an enduring and resourceful method that gives valuable prognostic and diagnostic information concerning cardiovascular and pulmonary disease patients. Cardiovascular and pulmonary procedures have progressed in scope and technology. Adjunctive imaging modalities, when combined with exercise testing, give additional information in regard to cardiac structure and function, better diagnostic accurateness, and more information on prognosis.
The procedures should allow users to identify the responses and their display through the test and review in a report of the test.Question 3National organizations and government agencies The American Council on ExerciseThe ACE improves life quality by way of reliable and efficient exercise and physical action. It educates and provides certification to fitness professionals who in turn give adequate exercise guidance to people. It also gives information, trends, resources, and dependable fitness and exercise products to professionals and consumers.
IDEA Health & Fitness AssociationThe association constitutes wellness and fitness professionals such as fitness directors, fitness business owners, and personal trainers. These professionals influence, train and coach individuals who care about their health. The Cooper InstituteThe institute conducts research in public health and preventive medicine and informing health agencies and public of their findings. The Cooper Institute resources contain information related to physical activity, health, and fitness.
Question 4Difference in programMy programs will be different since I will be implementing basic exercises. I will take it slow and give intervals during the exercises. Incorporating intervals will make the programs fun for the sick individuals while at the same time helping them recover from their illnesses.Extra precautionsBefore starting the exercise program, I will recommend patients who have had a heart attack or surgery to be cleared by their physicians (Thygerson & Thygerson, 2009). Additionally, I will urge them to perform according to their heart rate.
Moreover, I will advise patients to look at their diet and stay away from unhealthy practices.Exercises that can be contraindicated Circuits can be used. This is where one does an exercise after another until you complete the whole circuit. One takes a break for a while then goes over the whole circuit again. The circuit can be contraindicated with healthy eating behavior. ReferenceHowley, E., & Franks, B. (2007). Fitness professional’s hand book (5th ed.). Illinois: Human Kinetics.Thygerson, A.
