Cardiology, my passion, my love, for the past nine years I worked through medical school. It started in India, and then a new chapter full of opportunity began when I came to Michigan. It is my hope the continuation of the story will involve a cardiology fellowship.

The other testing and operative procedures interest me as well. Many of the tests are for imaging purposes. Understanding blood flow using angiography, echocardiography and MRI would be a pleasure to learn. Detection of abnormalities is another purpose of testing. Electron bear computerized tomography, electrophysiology, and myocardial biopsies are all wonderful tests for detecting numerous problems, and learning how to use the tests to diagnose the problems is something I am deeply interested in.

Taking care of the patients is the key to any branch of medicine. In cardiology, the patient population is primarily elderly and functions as outpatients. This makes them no less important. They require as much care, and seeing to that is paramount. The patients are the most important part of the medical profession. Developing a relationship built on trust is important to the doctor-patient bond. Cardiology is an exciting field with numerous research opportunities. My current research undertakings include the effect of medical therapy on the clinical course of non-critical coronary disease.

This project is conducted at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. The other project I'm working on is a retrospective review of non-ischemic cardiomyopathy patients. A comparison of data from patients with abnormal myocardial SPECT and those with normal SPECT is done to determine the outcome as conducted at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan. During my residency at Hurley Medical Center in internal medicine, I had many opportunities. Among them, is the research project listed above. In September of this year, I worked at the Cardiology Consultant Service at Henry Ford Hospital.

In July 2005, I gave a presentation on Polyarteritis Nodosa, recognized as the best case of the month. Before my residency, I completed my Master of Community Health Services at Wayne State University School of Medicine. While back in Indore, I worked with M.G.M. Medical College on the AIDS awareness program and the Lions Club International on an immunization drive providing immunizations to children. A sense of community is necessary for the medical profession. We help people, making them better and the communities we serve stronger.

My experiences as a student in medical school lend themselves to further involvement in the educational field. Interactions with residents, nurses, and medical students have been positive. Teaching others about medicine, particularly cardiology is something that interests me. A university hospital setting would be advantageous to this pursuit. There's more to life than just school and hospital work. My extracurricular activities include serving as secretary and treasurer of the house staff association at the Hurley Medical Center. I am also an avid squash player. I spend my free time at the gym, listening to music, flying planes, and with the few cousins present in the states.
