Assessment of Young Adult and Adult Assessment of Young Adult and Adult In most cases, young adults and adults participate in different physical activities as they intend to boost up their health outcome and fitness level. However, as they experience changes in their body physique they become exposed to different dangers that come with the physical activities even though; they enjoy the outcome of physical activity. As a result, it is crucial to take specific precautions on both the young adults and adults through carrying out exercise and fitness test to evaluate an individual’s physical fitness level without health complications. As the subject in the assessment, I measured my physical fitness level through evaluation of my PAR-Q rating, health status, general medical history, risk factors and precautions, medications, health and lifestyle related behaviors. In addition, I will assess my results based on testing CRF, endurance, flexibility, and strength, body composition, nutrition, readiness for change, motivational strategies and finally give recommendations on behavior modifications that ensure the attainment of healthy physical fitness without complications. PAR-Q rating More than often, it is recommended to use the physical activity readiness questionnaire (PAR-Q rating) to carry out physical fitness test using the president’s council on physical fitness and sports tests questionnaire. This is because; the questionnaire will give me the outcome of my test of agility towards physical activity. Through the president’s council on physical fitness and sports test, I am physically fit to participate in any physical activities because I do not have any heart complication and joint problems that could hinder my engagement in physical activity (Howley & Franks, 2007). In addition, the rating results indicate that I have no chest complications either when I am physically active or not. As a continuously physically active individual, I have never experienced dizziness or lack of consciousness whenever I engage in physical exercise or not (Howley & Franks, 2007). I am also, not on any medication or using prescribed drugs from any physician. Therefore, the outcome of the physical activity readiness questionnaire (PAR-Q rating) indicates that I am physically fit to engage in any activity fully with no health complications. Health Status An assessment on the health status determines if there is a medical condition that will not give a chance to an individual to undergo fitness testing and regular physical activity participation. An assessment of my health status gives a clear indication that I am physically fit to undertake all physical activities. This is because; I have a good health status with no complications that are ascertained by the doctor that would restrain me from engaging in normal physical activities (Howley & Franks, 2007). In addition, I maintain a comfortable healthy lifestyle by undertaking physical activity in running, cycling and triathlons. With no exceptional health status on being physical active, I believe that I can suitably fit in any activity actively without distinct health precautions to follow. General Medical History More than often, the medical history is a major issue in exercise process as well as health status. This is because it is essential to assess an individual medical history in order to understand the records of complications that would hinder one from participating in physical exercise after seeking a physician’s advice. In most cases, the problems of heart diseases, asthma, pulmonary and diabetes could hinder a person in engaging in exercise programs. An assessment of my medical history indicates that with my height of 5’2 inches and, weight of 115ilbs indicate that I have no medical complication history. As a result, I remain physically fit to undertake any physical activity that any adult can engage in comfortably (Marcus & Forsyth, 2009). Risk Factors and Precautions With the risk factor analysis questionnaire, it is possible to classify physical activity fitness in terms of low, moderate, and high. This is because; an analysis of the risk factor classification is based on prevalence to cardiovascular, metabolic and pulmonary disease. Through a health status questionnaire that ascertain the risk factor, an instructor dictates the personal goals and fitness test results as it is easier to understand the changes in health status because of response to activity (Howley & Franks, 2007). With no evident increase in risk factors in my health that show a chance of contracting any complicated disease, I am free to undertake any physical activity without the practitioners consent. It is important that, as any other young adult however, I should be cautious in extreme environmental conditions and changes in climate that would pose challenges to my health and would affect my risk factor level. Because I do not have any medical problems like heart, chest, cardiovascular, metabolic and pulmonary complications I have a low risk level, and there is no need of special attention especially the physical activity that I should do (Howley & Franks, 2007). I am healthy and should undertake any physical activity that a young adult can undertake. Medications Moreover, it is important for young adults to undertake medication for various health reasons that have been prescribed to them and are under specific risk medical conditions who may wish to undertake any physical activity. It may include adults who may be undergoing medication for risk health complications like heart, chest, cardiovascular, metabolic, ant arrhythmic, diabetes, hypertension and pulmonary infections (Howley & Franks, 2007). More than that, physical activities are more likely limited by the drugs that are meant to control the heart rate and blood pressure and can limit the physical activities that adults can undertake. Even though, I am not on a continuous medication however, I take naproxen on the nights before a race and after a race especially marathons to help minimize inflammation complications thus, I am not at a high risk of health complications (Marcus & Forsyth, 2009). Nevertheless, an assessment of my other medication history indicates that, I can participate in any physical activity because there is no medication that is intended to risk engagement in any physical activity. Health and Lifestyle Related Behaviors I actively engage in physical activities that include running at least two to three times a week, besides being involved in swimming twice week. In addition, I cycle two times a week and take at least two to four hours on weekend depending on bike workout (Howley & Franks, 2007). The workout varies depending on the period because I have a recovery week in every three weeks, the workout I undertake are moderate with high intensity and speed work. However, the ultimate goal is to peak for my two”A” races and focus on my speed work to have better ways to podium at more races. Body Composition In physical activity, body composition of a person can be easily determined using the height and weight ratio to calculate the body mass index. Being a young adult my body mass index level is twenty, which shows a healthy level to engage in physical exercise. In addition, I have a moderate risk towards physical activity because of my waist to hip ratio of 82 and my current body fat of fourteen percent (Marcus & Forsyth, 2009). The results indicate a girth measurements levels that are not of an obese of an individual with vibrant physical fitness. Assessment results on testing CRF, Endurance, Flexibility, Strength Before taking any engagement in physical activity, it is essential to gauge the levels of CRF, endurance, flexibility and strength. With a resting heart rate of forty two, it indicates physical fitness to engage in any physical activity. In addition, I have a flexible level with a sit and reach level of ninety percent and a high level of 12:34 (age 26F) in one point five mile indicate a high level of muscle flexibility for good physical practice. With a score of eighty eight percent, eleven point nine eight in METs and, forty one point nine four in VO2 max indicate an excellent rating scale for physical fitness. In the muscle strength and endurance tests in push up test of 26F 12 reps, gives a fair rating score of twenty seven. In addition, the Sit Up test of 26F 50 reps, gives an excellent rating score of ninety eight indicating good levels of lean strength and proper bone density. Nutrition More than often, nutrition plays a more significant role in the body mass index as it leads to overweight or underweight condition and health lifestyle behavior (Howley & Franks, 2007). Usually I undertake to take meals according to schedule that I am in, on an off day the calories I take are no more than1500 during workout days 2000calories on average depending on the workout although I do not pay attention to calories as the sugar I take. My diet intake is according to my blood type and is similar to vegetarians with bison and. I take chicken once or twice a week and maintain metabolism by eating about three hours these help me to keep physically fit for my exercises. Readiness for Change Because I am an active athlete who engages in physical activity regularly, I have built confidence in my ability to perform outstandingly in the areas of triathlons and running activities. As a result, I have developed a high level of readiness to change in my routine training to sharpen up my skills because of the high performance level I have successfully had in the field of triathlons and running. Therefore, I have build confidence over time by engaging in active exercise I have overcome obstacles that deterred me from achieving my goals (Marcus & Forsyth, 2009). Being a motivational person, I have developed a passion in coaching people and have remained active in triathlons and running. With my passion and motivation that has built my self-efficacy as, I feel enhanced when I workout daily. Motivational Strategies Motivational strategies ensure that an individual participate more in physical activities they enjoy. My passion for triathlons, cycling and running physical exercises comes from self satisfaction I always get from engaging in physical activity (Howley & Franks, 2007). In addition, the relaxation and self efficacy from engaging in continuous physical exercise gives me the motivation of build more confidence. Evaluation and Recommendations With the completion of assessment of my physical activity fitness level, remained vital to recommend behavior modification and exercise prescription. Through the stages of physical fitness, I have found it critical to enhance in building self-efficacy because of a good health history with no risk factors, good physical fitness, and healthy body mass index (Hoeger& Hoeger , 2010). In addition, I will ensure that I keep my body physically fit. I will also focus on decision balance strategies that are aimed at shifting the decision balance to a continuously positive behavior change (Howley & Franks, 2007). This is because, the model of behavioral change used ensures that practical strategies that motivate behavior change are effective in behavioral change for me and enhance a positive trend towards keeping physically fit.
