?Running head: Healthcare Management Healthcare management Healthcare management Depending on the size of the facility that they are administering, the health care management team is responsible for taking care of all the responsibilities in the organization and directing them. The management team is involved in supervising, administering, and planning all the activities that occur in that institution together with the staff that are employed to work in the institution. In the management of any health care facility, two types of managements are involved; the specialists and the generalists. The specialists are individuals who are involved in making sure that the facility is running efficiently in the various departments that exist. They assist in running the marketing of the institution, the budgeting of the available finance, analyzing the available policies and performing the tasks of the human resource. In addition to that, they also have the task of expanding and developing the available programs so that they can be used for scientific research, the welfare of the community and the health and the rehabilitation process both rehabilitation and vocational. For the generalists in the health care sector management, they are responsible for aiding in the management or managing the whole facility (Craig, 2009). Role of the manager Depending on how large the facility they are administering is, the manager is adorned with different roles. For instance, if the manager is working in a big institution, this means that each manager will be responsible for the efficient and smooth running of a given department. The several managers that exist in every department make up the entire department team, which is responsible for overseeing that the organization is running smoothly. In the case of a smaller facility, only one manager is needed since they can be able to manage the facility that they have been appointed. In addition to that, the managers are also responsible for representing the facility in meetings and being available to address any significant issues that may occur because most of the health facilities operate round the clock (Gomez-Mejia et al., 2008). Control of the Health Care Institution In a health care setup, the management is responsible for controlling most of the activities that occur within the facility. They are responsible for making any significant decisions that concerns the company. In some facilities, the management should report to a board of directors or governors who are appointed to oversee the efficient running of the institution. The managers are responsible for making sure that everything in the whole institution runs efficiently and effectively and operating the department that they have been appointed for bigger hospitals and controlling the entire facility for smaller hospitals (Kleiman, 2000). Organizational design The management in a health care setup is responsible for designing the structure of the whole organization. The design of the organization entails the organizational culture of the organization. The culture of the organization dictates how the entire organization runs. If the management strategies are focused in achieving great financial breakthrough than meeting the needs of the end-user, then the organization is likely to collapse. The design of the organization runs from the most senior staff to the junior staff and how they operate and who they report to for all their duties. Professional integration, adaptation, and accountability In any given organization, it is the work of the entire management to make sure that the organization is running smoothly. In the health care sector, the management is responsible for overseeing that the workers integrate the professional requirements that they are supposed to practice. For instance, if all the nurses in that organization are to wear white dresses, then the manager must make sure that the nurses wear all the white dresses required of them. In addition to that, it is also the duty of the management to make sure that all the workers of that facility perform their duties according to the policies of the facility. If the nurse on duty is meant to make sure that they have checked the patient after every two hours, then it is the duty of the management to make sure that the nurse performs their duties. Moreover, in order to hold the employee accountable for their duties, the managers must make sure that the staff have adopted to the working conditions and regulations which are set. One of the management tools that can be used is employee empowerment. If employees are empowered, they know what is required of them and they are accountable for their own actions. They come to job empowered to do their own duties. They understand quite well that they possess the duty of making sure that the organization runs effectively. In this way, the managers will have assisted the workers to adapt to their working environment (Blanchard & James, 2003). In addition to that, the managers in the health care make sure that the staffs perform their duties by making them accountable for their tasks. One of the methods in which the management makes sure that the staff is responsible for their duties is by conducting a performance appraisal after every given time that the administration has decided on. Performance appraisal is meant to keep the employees at bay and make sure that they perform their duties well. After the performance appraisal, some of the employees who have not performed their duties well can be relieved so that they can serve as an example to the remaining staff. However, it should be noted that the employees cannot be held accountable if they have not been told what is expected of them. In order to avoid controversies, the manager should define to every employee what they are required to do, give them some time to adopt then appraise them (Kotter & Dan, 2002). Conclusion Management of a given heath sector most of the time depends on the size of the institution that is to be governed. It is the duty of the manager to ensure that the workers have a conducive environment for working and that they have been given the opportunity to grow professionally. They know that they have to set a unique organizational design if the facility is to stand out from the rest of the facilities. In addition to that, the management team is supposed to make sure that every employee is aware of what is required of him or her to meet the professional requirements. Additionally, it is also the work of the management t ask force to make sure that before the appraise their workers that they have made sure that the workers have adopted to working in the facility.
