However, there are ongoing studies that are examining the issue more closely (How Cell-phone Radiation Works) Even though cell phones brought many benefits to human life, many people are of the view that it brought many challenges also. Vehicle accidents caused by cell phone use while driving are increasing day by day. Some people believe that cell phone usage inside the airplanes can cause safety related problems. There are many studies which proved that cell phone radiations can cause brain tumor as well as cancer. It should be noted that cellphones generate many radiations while sending and receiving calls. Many people are of the view that these radiations can cause cancer. This paper analyses the question; whether cell phones cause cancer or not. ...
Alpha and Beta rays can cause huge changes in the proteins because of its ability to ionize other objects whereas gamma and X rays have the ability to penetrate deep into the human body and alter chemical reactions inside the body. In short, all these radiations can cause huge changes in our body which may lead towards cancer like diseases. “According to a recent report from the U.S. General Accounting Office, at high levels, radio-frequency energy can rapidly heat biological tissue and cause damage such as burns” (How Cell-phone Radiation Works). In wireless communications, the processes called modulation and demodulation are taking place. Sound waves do not have the ability to travel long distances because of its lower frequency. It should be superimposed with some kind of carrier waves having higher frequency to travel long distances. This process is called modulation and the waves generated as a result of modulation is called modulated waves or radio waves. In other words, modulated waves consist of sound waves as well as carrier waves. Cellphones isolate sound waves from carrier waves in order to make the modulated wave audible to us. Same way while sending sounds produced by us, the same modulation process is taking place inside the cellphones. Thus, cellphones are equipment which handles high frequency radiations which are harmful to human health. “Modulated information-carrying radio waves resonate in biological frequencies of a few to a few hundred cycles per second, and can stimulate your cellular receptors causing a whole cascade of pathological consequences that can culminate in fatigue, anxiety and ultimately cancers” (How cell phone radiations can Affect Your Cells?). A cellular phone is ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

The Use of Chemotherapy in Cancer

...Running Head Chemotherapy The Use of Chemotherapy in Cancer Cancer ranks as the second leading cause of mortality next to heart disease. It happens when the normal cycle of cell growth is disrupted, which gives rise to undifferentiated cells of abnormal morphology. Cancer treatments come in several forms. It may be through surgery, radiation therapy, biological therapy, or through the use of a drug or combination of drugs which act synergistically to get rid of the cancer cells, a process known as chemotherapy. Dating back to the 17th century, the use of chemotherapy has proven to be of great benefit to patients who opt to undergo this treatment. Chemotherapy continues to improve throughout the years. In this paper, the author examines...

The Difference between Sickle-Cell Anemia and Malaria Resistance

It has been found that this disease is very well equipped in resisting malaria or in other words sickle cell anemia is a fairly effective resistant against malaria. The carrier of this always carry an amount of this disease in their blood cell as this genetic disease is very recessive in nature. For this reason this complementing disease is referred to as heterozygote advantage.

This phenomenon happens because as a rule the malaria parasite needs to be embedded in blood cells to reproduce but the blood cell of an infected person resists the parasite plasmodium to settle down. Thereby depriving the parasite to reside and multiply. In this process, the sickle cell disease prevents the carrier from probable infection of ma...

Different Factors That Cause Food Spoilage

The mechanism of action of these microbes is quite interesting. For example, some microbes release enzymes into the liquid surrounding them and absorb nutrition from the fluid digested externally. On top of that, this process of digestion leaves behind a residue of toxic waste, which is poisonous. That is why food items (both natural and processed) with high fluid content tend to be more susceptible to spoilage. So this is one internal or intrinsic condition for food spoilage.
Also, the vulnerability of a food item for a microbe attack is largely determined by its classification. Food such as carbohydrates, fats, and proteins are made up of organic compounds, whose nutrition attracts microbes. On the other hand vitamins and m...

The Possible Cause of Juvenile Crime

The Latin word, ‘delinquent,’ connotes dereliction of duty and gave rise to the term ‘delinquency,’ which is now generally recognized as offenses against lawful authority, or to the violation of criminal law by a child below the age of eighteen (Concept and Causes of Juvenile Delinquency). Prior to the mid-nineteenth century, children under the age of seven were not held to be responsible for criminal acts, children under the age of fourteen were held to be incapable of criminal intent and those above fourteen were subject to the same legal proceedings as adults The Juvenile Offender’s Act of 1847 allowed children under fourteen to be tried speedily and outside public scrutiny by two magistrates. The...

Cancer: a Terminal Disease

Only visible progress is observed in the case of breast cancer even though, it is detected in the early stage (3). There are many reasons and characteristic of cancer which makes it incurables some of them are as follows:
Most of the human diseases were classified under two broad categories; 1) genetic diseases and 2) environmental diseases. In genetic diseases, mutation or loss of function in any of the vital genes leads to disease condition and they are generally cured by artificial supplementation of a vital component. For example, in sickle cell anemia where a patient having mutation in both copies of the hemoglobin gene leads to sickle-shaped RBC. The only permanent cure for this disease is bone marrow transplant and gen...

Therapeutics of Colon Cancer

It is found that even the migrants from other countries who are living in the United States are suffering from the same problem because of the adoption of the same lifestyle as practised in America (Robbins et al 2005; Jemel et al 2002).
Some studies have also shown that obesity and inactivity of muscles can also lead to colon cancer. It is known that the incidence of colon cancer is also increased by several other predisposing factors. Dietary intake is one of the factors which can increase the incidence of colon cancer. It is advised that excess calories should not be consumed if they have already reached the requirements of the body (Wei et al 2004; Lieberman et al 2003; Robbins et al 2005). Low unabsorbable vegetable con...

Lung Cancer Diagnosis: Where We Are Heading To

...Lung cancer diagnosis where we are heading to? Introduction Lung cancer, like any other cancer is caused by the abnormal growth of cells in the tissue of the lungs. “There are over 1 million deaths world wide due to lung cancer, making it truly an epidemic” (Driscoll 3).Unlike other cells, the cancer cells do not die programmatic death and divide and grow exponentially. Instead of developing into healthy, normal lung tissue, the cells grow uncontrollably and form lumps called tumors. If a tumor remains in one place and show a limited growth, it is commonly considered to be benign. “Cancer that originates from lung cells is called a primary lung cancer. Primary lung cancer can start in the airways that branch off the trachea to supply...

The Regulation of Cell Phone Use While Driving

...Should Regulations Regarding the Use of Cell Phones While Driving be Standardized? Marketa Burnett Dr. Christine Barham Research & Writing Introduction Of top of 1,060 injury cases associated with road accidents, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimated that at least nine people die each day by “distracted driving” (CDC, 2014). In line with this, Jacobson and Gostin (2010) pointed out that “sending text messages, calling from cell phones, watching videos, or “searching the Internet” are among the few common distractions while driving. To effectively reduce the number of road accidents caused by distractions in driving, a total of 39 different states in the US have already ratified some form of laws with regards to the need...

Stem Cell Research Policies Around the World

... organ function and pain or swelling in the area of transplant. Hence recipients are required to take immunosuppressive drugs as a life-long measure in order to prevent such an attack. However, these are in turn associated with very high cancer risks. The use of stem cells taken from the same patient can help to lessen the immune rejection response. Following stem cell isolation from the patient, they are cultivated under laboratory conditions and then used for the transplant process. Organ transplant using stem cells from the same individual is associated with minimum complications such as bleeding, anemia, infections and liver damage. In the case where the stem cells are obtained from a donor, graft versus host disease may occur when...
