With a cell phone our aural and cognitive faculties are extended in an unprecedented manner, making our living experience very unique. For example, wherever we may be located geographically, we can get in touch with…

That is nearly one in two people in the globe have a cell phone attached to their identity. This statistic makes it clear that cell phones have become inevitable to our lives. A link has been identified between some kinds of electromagnetic radiation and some cancers. These forms of electromagnetic radiation include “ultraviolet radiation, X-rays, and gamma rays. They are dangerous because they may break covalent chemical bonds in your body. Breakage of certain covalent bonds in key molecules leads to an increased cancer risk.” (Leikind) It is claimed that Radio Frequency (RF) waves employed by cell phones are not in the same grouping as these harmful radiations.
RF is a type of electromagnetic radiation that falls between “FM radio waves and those used in microwave ovens, satellite stations, and radar”. (Leikind) Those who defend the safety of cell phones point out that the device does not emit ionizing radiation, which has the potential to create chemical changes to molecules in the human body. In other words, in the absence of ionizing radiation, the human DNA will not be damaged by cell phone usage. It is argued that cell phones
“emit nonionizing radiation, which has lower energy and a longer wavelength than ionizing radiation. Nonionizing radiation is not strong enough to change an atoms structure, but it can heat tissue. The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) places a limit on the amount of RF energy that can be absorbed from a cell phone into the users local tissues--the specific absorption rate (SAR)--at 1.6 watts per kilogram (W/kg).” (Liberatore 70)
Hence, those cell phone devices that abide by FCC regulation on heat limit should be safe for usage. This is backed by recent research evidence as well, which suggest that short-term exposure to cell phones might cause no harm whatsoever. But in terms of long-term usage, results from a review of 18 studies on cell phone use of

Today, cell phones are possessed by individuals of all ages, ranging from juveniles to old people. Cell phones generate electromagnetic radiations. So the fact that they are held so close to human body, their massive use and increased exposure of the ears, brain and head to the radiations has raised health concerns among scientists and medical community worldwide.
It should be noted that even computers or internet are inferior to cell phones when it comes to instant communication. People keep cell phones in their pocket most of the times and therefore it is easy to locate or contact a person at any time. Some say that cell phones are linked to higher occurrences of cancer and other ailments, while other studies report that cell-phone users have no higher rate of cancer than the population as a whole.
Ionizing EMR include cosmic, radon, and x-rays, while non-ionizing EMR include radiofrequency and very low-frequency radiations. Weinberg (p. 16) warns that radiofrequency energy is capable deeply penetrating the body of human beings without any external detection.
Traditional cell phones had the basic features mainly for making calls and sending short text messages plus a few other basic features (Marquez, Para 6). Moreover, with changes in technology, different preferences and needs of the population, cell phones manufacturers design cell phones to meet these needs of different groups.
There have been increasing concerns about exposure to electromagnetic fields of users emanating from cell phones and their related accessories. Radiation emanating from this equipment has a direct and indirect effect on the health of people such as car accidents, cancer and interference with health equipment.
The debate was triggered when 3 major studies since 1999 indicated that usage of cell phones for more than a decade increased the risk of development of brain tumor by 3 times (Wenner, 2008). However, the National Institute of Cancer (2010), has issued a statement
Now, by pressing a single button, we are able to contact the desired person instead of actually meeting them. Although cell phones have provided a great deal of convenience and have assembled many applications and
