Extract of sample "Oceania as a Region for Human Habitation"

The human exploration of the Oceania environment was not without negative effects on the environment. As a result, the change in the environment bears significant impacts on the people and the ecosystems in Oceania. Human activities have been the greatest contributors to the change in the environment. The lack of regulation among the people in the region caused them to over-exploit the resources without considering their effects on the other ecosystems.

Effects of Human Interactions with the Environment

The alteration of the environment caused changes to the various ecosystems in the region. For instance, the environmental changes resulted in extreme changes in the temperatures in the region. The mean temperatures were extremely high than before, and this interfered with the lives of other abiotic processes. The temperature variability over time also influences the rainfall pattern in the region. As a result, the region became prone to interactions with new pathogens and invasive species. These were groomed by the varying temperature and rainfall patterns. Moreover, the environmental changes caused the region to experience extreme cases of natural phenomena. For example, the alteration of the environmental systems in the region resulted in occurrences of storms in the region.   Moreover, there have been extreme cases of floods resulting from human activities. In addition, the accumulation of carbon gases in the air has resulted in climate change. This is a major contributor and trigger of the temperature and rainfall variability in the region. All these variations have affected the lives of the people negatively. In addition, they have altered the natural ecosystems in the region.

Physical Geography and Politics of the Region

The Oceania region has a unique physical geography nature. The region is divided into four regions that include Micronesia, Polynesia, Melanesia, and Malaysia. All these regions are characterized by different geopolitical attributes. As neighboring nations, the political influence of the nations would be expected to spread out among the different countries in that region. Contrary to that, some of the countries in the region are not included in geopolitical Oceania such as Malaysia and Indonesia. The geographical extreme islands, however, are politically integral parts of Japan, the USA, and Chile. Therefore, the region is characterized by a variety of political influences that govern each state. The exposure to the different political rules influenced the system of governance in the different countries. Moreover, the institutions within these nations adapt to what is practiced by their ‘masters’

Summary and Conclusion

In summary, Oceania is an environmentally attractive region for human habitation. It offers the best environmental service and resources to the inhabitants. However, human activities in the Oceania region have been of dire consequences for the people and the ecosystem of the area. The desire to modify the environment for survival was done without regulation. If human activities are regulated, the state of the environment will be sustainable. Therefore, human activities in the Oceania region should be subjected to scrutiny and regulation from the relevant authorities to enhance environmental sustainability.
