Questions Why would most scientists use the nearest neighbor interpolation for rectification of images?
The interpolation is simple and the unknown interpolant is given in a piecewise –constant value. The resultant algorithms also ease implementation especially when a 3-diamentional color value needs to be textured.

I would prefer cubic convolution because:
It produces much sharper images that output highest image quality
It also covers many square pixel that allow broader classification
Accuracy is enhanced when clear boundaries are created
The technique eases image processing in a digital computer due high compatibility with the software system.

Bilinear interpolation, because faults and road are one dimensional attributes that are represented by lines. The technique estimates unknown values through linear interpolation based on x and y coordinate points (Bannore 23)

Use of more than 3 GCPs even for the simplest order to allow shifting and rotation

Good or bad GCP may result depending on the entries, dataset reliability, user conceptualization and the software program used.
8. What is RMS error and what does it tell us about our resampled image’s overall accuracy?
The error show there is a distortion in transformation of coordinates. Accuracy is analyzed by checking the contrast of the expected coordinate of a GCP to the actual.
