The women’s empowerment means that the society is finally becoming civilized and therefore, its economic outlook will become more attractive for the foreign investment parties. The human society is always known to respond to knowledge and information while, India is doing the same at this time. Abolishing Gender Discrimination in Indian Society: A Scholarly Analysis Introduction The human society is believed to be based on gender discrimination from the study of prehistoric times. In the past, males were primarily responsible for hunting and then the females were supposed to cook and serve the food to the family. The setup was continuing to exist in various forms and shapes over several eras. In the modern world, females are still managing the homes while their male fellows work in different fields of life (Gupta, et al. 2003). The abovementioned scenario is very much true for the developing parts of the world because these areas have failed to incorporate human rights and values into the very fabric of the society. The outdated philosophy of man being a hunter is followed by the masses that are living in the less developed countries of the world. Additionally, it should be kept in mind that the economic pressures that were caused to prevail in developed nations due to Second World War and the Great Depression have played a significant role in the induction of female as a worker. Initially, the woman was considered ideal for subordination and followership. But, with the passage of time, females emerged as ideal leaders (Alston 2005). The scholars are of the view that being a man and woman is just a biological difference and it does not affect the ability of an individual. The propagation of gender equality has impressed the global and international companies to consider gender as a secondary issue and their main focus remains on the core competencies of the candidate. The particular candidate who has the proper experience, personality type and behaviors that are required to do the job then, the management selects him or her without giving a thought to the gender (Brown 1979). Furthermore, the economic pressures and postwar destruction seriously compromised the labor supply at that time and therefore, the males had to transfer knowledge and information to them in order to make the new breed of workers more active and effective part of the workforce. The females are getting more and more prominent in all walks of life. Their ability to be an artist, leader and an employee is matched with that of males and in some cases it exceeded the expectations and anticipations of the supervisors as well. The economic world order is changing and because of this reason, international trade activities are experiencing a boom in all parts of the world. The developed communities are becoming knowledge-based societies and the emergent economies are taking up the role of industrialized centers of the world (Taylor 2005). The trend of outsourcing is growing and the history is repeating itself once more in the Indian society where cultural and societal norms are responding to accommodate new and different economic opportunities (Mehta, et al. 2006). As mentioned earlier that India is transforming into the production center of the world and therefore, it is facing grave labor deficiency presently. The companies are empowering females in order to compensate for the labor shortage. In this way, the female is becoming increasingly powerful in the society where she was burned with the dead body of the husband. Based on the above discussion, economic needs are far stronger and influencing than cultural norms and values. The human civilization has a tendency to change its norms and values in order to experience economic growth. The Indian nation is doing the same and the nation’s media is trying its best to promote their culture and society as the most tolerant one in comparison with other emerging fiscal entities. Moreover, the strategy of promoting social equality and harmony on the international level seems to be working. The level of foreign direct investment is piling up for the past few years and things are looking very good and bright for the featured country in the future. The females are becoming powerful in the society. In the past however, the power was in the hand of males because they had a responsibility of making an earning but nowadays females are getting engaged in professional activities and therefore, gaining political power in the community. The economic power and strength is believed to be the source of political one (Oostendorp 2009). Nevertheless, the political strength once acquired and accumulated then it is the most addictive thing in the world. The political power is shifting in the direction of females as they are more hard-working and dedicated to their professional obligations and duties. The Indian society was identified as the most brutal social system of the world when it came to treating females. As the economic environment changed and globalization occurred then, the society’s behavior towards females changed as well. The governments are believed to be the mechanism and system that is designed in order to fulfill economic agendas of the corporate sector and the Indian government is no different in this regard (Luoa, Xue and Han 2010). The political leaders are the ones who are famous for sniffing the societal change and adjust their policies in the light of the broader modification so that their rule can be prolonged. The Indian government is doing the same as corporate sector needs a sustainable labor supply. The government’s policies to make the nation appear more westernized are being translated in the form of feminist moments and empowered role of female in media and film industry (Das 2000). The female empowerment is limited to the developed cities of the country and therefore, it is just a representation of a subculture that is developed as a showpiece for the investors. In less developed and crude localities of the country the female is not at all empowered and because of this reason, she is often subjected to domestic violence and brutality (Parameswaran 2001). The previous observation affirms the power of economic growth as it has the tendency to alleviate ethical standards of the society. The growing empowerment of females in advanced cities of India simply means that fiscal development has something to do with betterment of females in the country where they were considered equivalent to the farm animals in the past. The economic participation of the suppressed gender is being identified as the system that is promoting exploitation of female in the communal setup of India. But, it is not the case in reality as females were not socially active in the society and therefore, they need time to gather sufficient professional exposure in order to demand higher monetary compensation in the corporate world (Daniel 2004). The increasing participation of females in the society will result in overwhelming level of power for the feminine minority in the near future. Still, the females are recommended to continue their journey as professionals if they are interested in becoming an equal citizen in comparison to the male majority. Secondly, the economic conditions that have become quite challenging over the past few years, have circumvented the role of female as a mother and now people of India want to marry educated women in order to make a sustainable income in the future (Patel and Parmentier 2005). Additionally, the modern male population is of the viewpoint that sober females have the power to become excellent mothers. The role of female in balancing the society and carrying forward its intellectual growth is being recognized in the Indian culture and it is made possible due to the advent of information technology that assisted the young minds of the nation to appreciate the role and importance of female. The natural and crude system was based on the fact that males are stronger in physical sense and therefore, they are ideal for outside jobs. In present world, this argument is not valid because technology has evolved and the works that were considered challenging became very simple because of technological induction. The growing participation of females in automobile and engineering sectors is the effective evidence that females can do anything if given a chance. The modern organizational philosophy is based on three basic and fundamental values and these values argue that everyone is a human while all of the humans have the tendency to learn. The modernity is ultimately transforming into the Indian culture as its integral part. The contemporary workplace is becoming genderless and mixed teams are considered as the defining attribute of a lively workplace. The employees who are not socially active had to be harnessed so that they can learn new laws of socialization (Morand 1995). The Indian organizational structure and culture are becoming very organic in nature and therefore, the national developmental process is currently experiencing a notable level of expedition recently. The females in the leading roles have to impose a bureaucratic culture in order to tell the employees that with whom the authority resides. The basic cultural belief that females are made to serve males sometimes manifests itself in the form of sexual harassment with which the females have to deal professionally. In the modern organizational world, female cannot receive sexual abuse without their consent in the corporate world at least. In short, it can be established that Indian culture is moving towards becoming an individualistic one where every human being will have equal rights and privileges regardless of race, gender and even religion (MacKinnon 2006). The religious values are known to degrade the position of female in the society. The Hinduism and Islam are the leading ways of life that are famous for having substantial number of followers in the country. Both of the religions were working against the notion of a working woman but the religious authorities were requested to find a way to impress women to leave their homes and become an active part of the workforce (Chandran, et al. 2002). The scholars took refuge by developing the argument that changing economic conditions of the world require participation from women in order to fulfill the greater national interest of economic prosperity. In this manner, a non-religious act became a very religious one in the eyes of the general public. The hidden economic objective remained a secret. The cultural outlook of the society is always known to change once the journey of economic development initiates its due course. The females in the Indian developed cities are having their income sources and because of this profound reason, they have partially liberated from being guided by their male superiors. The females are no doubt getting more and stronger in all parts of the world as they have successfully developed their identity in developed and developing parts of the world. The sexism is highly related to race and religion but economic pressures and needs overweigh cultural realities and make them adaptive to the changing psychological and physiological needs of the masses. The same thing is going on in the modern Indian society (Kingdon 1998). The Indian nation is rated amongst leading internet users and therefore, the fresh knowledge that has been created by the developed nations is reaching the intellectual shores of India and from there onwards it is getting well incorporated in the local community. Thusly, the growing respect of female as a professional is mere manifestation of Indian intellectual growth (Cooke and Saini 2010). The women were empowered in the US after Second World War and in India they are empowered so that the phenomenon of globalization can be managed. At a deeper level however, the increasing need of human resources ignited the process of women empowerment. The females of other developing nations who are spending life in a miserable condition are strongly suggested to engage themselves in economic activities and soon after that their troubles and pains will disappear into the thin air. The societal sand political power is famous for being derived from financial prosperity and the women must start earning their own income if they are interested in getting a respectable place in the society. The male population is being forced towards letting the females engage in the professional endeavors because his ability to fulfill the needs of the family is compromised due to poor economic conditions. The modern families are presently love to consider the sons and daughters as equals and in the educational world, the females are leaving the males far behind. The significant scholarly contributions of females are also recorded and therefore, it can be established that Indian female will also have an equivalent contribution in strengthening India in a few years from now. The readers must and should understand that the discussion of this study is objectively concerned with developed and advanced localities of the Indian culture. The remote geographical areas are still exhibiting collective behaviors of the past when females were confined to homes. This paper’s object was to analyze and review the process of modernity in the local society of a significantly emerging economy. The government has been playing a noticeable role in terms of letting the female free in the society. The female’s freedom is treated and taken as an effective and efficient measure for quantifying enlightenment in a particular culture. The government is formed with the help of getting sponsorships from corporate sector and therefore, the governmental offices are informally bound to meet the expectations of businessmen. The females are getting empowered because they are popular for their creativity and sensitivity in the direction of human values and needs. Both of the qualities are imperative for creating a sustainable organization in the 21st century. The ability of creativity is needed to perform entrepreneurial activities whereas; the human concern helps the companies in giving organic touch to the modern organization. The notion of gender equality is always being incorporated as a result of another external influence. In the case of India, the gender differences are getting insignificant as globalization made the country a center of production. Secondly, the internet use amongst the next generation is promoting educated behaviors in the society. The ability to collaborate and cooperate of Indian professionals is currently unmatched by any other developing economy ability to do so. The human civilization is purely based on the practical need of fulfilling each other’s needs. The India is becoming more popular as a business partner on a global level because of its ability to show flexible value-related behaviors (Aneesh 2012). The adjacent countries are primarily based on theological belief systems and therefore, they are not yet ready to accommodate international trade and occupy a respectable and influential position in the global community of nations. The Indian community is going to apply the concept of global citizenship when the need will arise. The potential to follow the modern philosophy will enable the nation to develop into a tiger state in the local region and those nations that are having a historical grudge with the country will have to succumb in front of economic supremacy. The idea of nationalism is going to further deteriorate in the near future and global economic integration will help Americanization in the process of covering more cultural and societal territory in a few years. India and other nations like it will experience gender-lessness on an increasing basis and therefore, females are going to occupy strategic positions in the local organizations while, the males will have to put the plans developed by the strategic leadership of the future, to use. The changing professional order is definitively going to tilt the grounds in favor of females and so the global society must stand ready to witness to see more female leaders to emerge in the future. Research Methodology The in-depth interview of Tata Group’s Marketing Manager in India will be conducted through Skype in order to get a detailed information about the impact of globalization on the role of women in local economy. Findings The key findings of the study are as follows: - The females are always got freedom from cultural boundaries as a result of economic development The US society had to allow females to become an active part of the society in response to the labor shortage that was caused by Second World War and Great Depression The economic pressures on the Indian society melted away their cultural and normative behavior towards females The modern phenomenon of globalization has made the Indian nation the center of outsourcing and therefore, its culture is currently exhibiting flexibility in order attract more FDI The human evolution is believed to be caused by intellectual growth and the Indian community as a leading internet user has managed to gather a lot of information and exhibiting early signs of modernity The profound ability and power to collaborate with citizens of foreign countries is at the heart of Indian technological and economic growth The females are getting more and more involved in professional activities all around the world The defining attributes of professionals include creativity and dedication to human concern Both of the female’s attributes are critical towards success of modern organization The females are emerging as leaders as their ability to exercise control and influence is growing The governments are known to assist the corporate world in terms of attaining their goals The government of India empowered females in order to help the business community in fighting out labor shortage The economic pressures are always known to assist the females in becoming more independent and Indian case is no different in this regard Conclusion The Indian nation is enjoying global acceptability as its culture is successfully adaptive towards ethical and cultural systems of the west. The females are becoming part of workforce in masses and therefore, the workplace of India is becoming genderless on a growing basis.
