College: Business and Management (Strategic Management) The following questions were formulated to aid in conducting the earlier planned interview and subsequently establish key features, prerequisites, and expectations of an architect active in the profession. The answers to the questions are responses provided by the interviewee.1. Why take up Architecture as a profession of choice?Architecture is a very creative and interactive profession. It revolves around the fact that complex buildings and structures can be created out of simple ideas and designs.

In addition, the profession provides limitless opportunities since housing remains one of the most fundamental human needs.2. What skills does one acquire?Technical drawing and construction skills are the essential skills that one acquires when studying Architecture. These skills enable an architect to match creative and conceptual ideas about designs together with setting up of real life structures.3. Is it necessary to study design courses before doing an architectural degree? It is not necessary; however, most schools and architects advocate that one should have some knowledge about architecture.

They involve technical studies that one may find challenging if not exposed to early enough.4. Is there any work placement needed in the architectural field?Work placements are important in developing architectural skills. Such industrial attachments also expose a person to practical skills and field requirements of architecture. This is vital to success in the field, especially considering the fact that a small percentage of architecture involves design while the rest involves interactive processes.5. Are there readily available jobs in the market for Architects?

As long as an architect is qualified and has the requisite knowledge and skills, it is virtually impossible to lack a well-paying job. Alternatively, with adequate qualification in the theoretical and practical areas of the profession, an architect can opt to open his or her firm, acquiring contracts 6. In which economic sectors are Architects most likely found? In most cases, most architects are employed by the government and real estate developers. These sectors operate heavily in the building industry.7. What do you love about this occupation?

The design stage helps one integrate interactive processes together with ideas. The best experience comes about when you transform an idea into a building and get paid for it.8. Would you advice students wanting to study architecture?Any student wanting to pursue architecture should first be driven by passion. This field involves a lot of technicalities and one can easily give up. However, it pays off when you gain the necessary knowledge.9. Do you have any long term goals for the future?Architecture is a wide field and one should continue exploring possibilities and opportunities that arise daily.

I will engage in as many projects as I can, in order to gain the necessary experience that I will need to start my own practice and maybe eventually own a real estate firm.10. How would you rate your job satisfaction on a scale of 1 to 10? I would say probably 7. This is because I love designing and architecture. The job gives me a notch of creativity which leaves my clients satisfied.SummaryOne of the principal lessons I learnt from the respondent is that, Architecture is important not only as a learning program offered in schools, but also in mainstream society where it is actually practiced.

It gives people the ideas to construct complex buildings, real estates, as well as, sky scrapers. Architecture field is mostly influenced by rapid commercialization, the advancement of technology, the scarcity of land, and increased business needs to develop efficient structures (Manatt 21). Most people around the globe live in urban areas meaning the demand for housing and structures increase progressively. The existence of rural to urban migration also increases the demand for housing. Architecture, therefore, remains an attractive and lucrative field to deal in.

The sustainability of architectural programs can be maintained through a multidisciplinary methodology as it tends to involve complex expertise and services such as structure design, planning, infrastructure, as well as social and economic factors. Architects must also possess the requisite interactive and operational skills to allow efficiency and effectiveness in their line of operation. Most architects work in government sectors such as the housing sector and real estate firms (Manatt 28).

These sectors heavily demand architects, and since business opportunities are highly lucrative in these areas, they will tend to shortlist devoted architects that are highly experienced and skilled. Architecture proves to be a lucrative line of profession for people willing to take the risk in investing in it.Work citedManatt, Kathleen G. Architects. Ann Arbor: Cherry Lake, 2008. Print.
