I want to provideyou with a brief overview of accounting in order to prepare you for your roles as accountants in your professional fields. First, I want to make you aware of some core objectives of accounting because they will help you perform your job responsibilities in an appropriate manner. Some of the core objectives include storing and retrieving financial information, using generally Accepted Accounting Principles to carry out financial activities, preparing financial statements, reviewing financial records using audit trials, and using financial statements for strategic planning purposes (VanBaren, n.d.).

Let me now tell you about the term ‘financial reporting’.
