?Brainstorming assignment: In the present world, there is much scope for the study of international law. Between the two assignments, African problems and ancient tribal traditions, and international law and reforms, I prefer to take up the second one, which is related with international law and the need for its reforms. I believe that the topic that I take should be worth enough to link my interest with it. As part of the human community and moreover as a person who is looking forward for the growth of good relations among different nations of this world, I think that it is good to take the assignment, ‘What reforms are needed by the international law to improve international relational relations?’ I believe that the proposed assignment has much relevance in the present context where the international relationships between nations are at stake and the tuck of war is undergoing in many countries. As a student I am much interested in the international relations of the nations. Even though I don’t have much knowledge in it, I believe that if the international ties between the nations are strengthened up, much of the problems among the nations will come down. The international court has a predominant role to guide the nations through peace and security. In the field of international justice, day by day, many issues related to the encroaching, terrorism, territorial dispute, and unhealthy competitions between and among nations are rising to an intimidating level. As this topic is dealing with the present situations of the world and it has become a focus for interest, I wish to take up this assignment. I believe that this study has some relevance for studying. As far as I am concerned I wish to have a thorough study on the topic. The knowledge about the various elements of international law and the implementation of it in the present situation are to be studied. Moreover, it is nice to have a study on the disputes and how the international law and the court tried to settle it. I would like to know about the position of the international court in the present conditions like Kyoto treaty, Iraq war and other terrorist elements, etc. According to me the research should be done on the implementation of law on different disputes and should make an analysis on how different nations consider international law and international court. I believe that the aspect of international law and the strategies for settling the disputes among the nations is a major concern that the law should look through. At many times the international law has failed to judicially execute the disputes that emerged from different parts of the world. There should be enough clarification in the implementation of law by the different agencies. I plan to give more stress on this aspect in my research. It is sure that if ever I get a chance to meet an expert on this subject I would ask certain questions which is puzzling in my mind. Of course the major doubts of mine will be in the reforming of the international law. I want to know the how this law can take reforms and how this law will arbitrarily make decisions on different issues that are coming up day by day. I would like to list out some of the questions that I ask to the expert. I will ask him about the shift in that occurred in the international level as the powerful nations consider this as a tool of their supremacy. It is also good to ask about the modern changes that are to be there in the international law. I propose to ask on how the international court can exercise power in dealing with the dominant nations of the world. I will ask him what the reforms are proposed by the international law committee regarding the upcoming elements of terrorism in each country. By asking many questions I believe that I will get a clear cut idea on the international law and its role in maintaining peace among nations of the world. If ever I was asked to get a book on their reforms of International law I would suggest the article, ‘International Law in Times of Hegemony: Unequal Power and the Shaping of the International Legal Order,’ written by Nico Krisch (2005) appeared in The European Journal of International Law. The book deals with the many of the major problems faced by the international court and this will make awareness on the needs for the reforms of international law. The author has gone through the different perspectives of the law and regarded the need for changes in the law. The superior hegemony of America and other countries are questioned here. The question of this research paper is the analysis of dominant states interaction with international law. The author tries to make a study on the international law and how the dominant nations of this world consider international law. In the words of the author, “Thus, the main goal of this article is to identify the central elements of the dynamic interaction between international law and power inequality, and thereby clarify in which ways international law is both receptive and resistant to superior power” (Krisch, 2005, p.371). He considers that international law has good morals and values. But when power comes to rule it seems to be powerless. When it is interacting with the weaker states it is operating well and many successful decisions could be taken. When it comes to deal with the powerful nations often the decisions of the international court were considered to be powerless. International law, when comes in the hands of powerful nations like America it “appears as either the nemesis of power or as its handmaiden” (Krisch, 2005, p. 37). The author has gone through his goals and he argued his parts well. He has given the scope for further research in the paper. According to him international law is working on the multilateral aspect. The consensus of the major nations to start international court has made this court a reality but at the same time it has no executing agency. It remains to be merely an adviser. It is the dominant states that initiated the international court. They used this court as a means to expand their position over other nations. At present USA has the major beneficiary of the international law but when it comes to US side they easily forget it. Finally the author states that the bowing of international law before the dominant nations should cease to find a position for it in the international community. As it is under pressure it cannot act independently .so adequate strategies should be implemented to consider the international court’s supremacy over the supreme courts of each and every nations. International law should be dominant enough to make necessary changes to safeguard the international relationships among the nations. The topic as mentioned above is a worth doing as it involves much scope for further studies. The international ties of the different nations can be developed by making the international law over the nations of the world. It has to be the main agency to protect peace among the nations. In my research I wish to draw a study on the international law and the weaker states. At times some weaker states too get the advantages. By taking this research I believe that I will be able to make out the present situation of the international law and will be able to put forward some suggestions for the best implementation of law for the global peace and security.
