It is approximately two months since God blessed us with you in our lives. The joy of any mother is to see his son succeed. The day you came to this world remains clear and fresh in my brains, I feel it is like yesterday. That day was on 23rd of September this year at around 6:14pm in New York hospital of queens. You weighed 6lbs, 12 oz and was 20 inches long with gray eyes and a cone shaped head. Your dad and I were somehow uneasy since you showed up a bit early, and my obstetrics gynecologist had advised that I go to the hospital for a checkup. At the hospital, everything turned out well, and I was discharged. Your dad and I decided to visit the subway for something to eat and as soon as we were done, he moved to another store, as I was moving out of the subway. While moving out, I tried to call your dad to establish his location, and that was when you announced your arrival. It was thirty minutes past noon, and I was rushed to the hospital by your dad. What your father and I underwent in the whole process was not only challenging but also unbearable. The moment you were delivered and placed on my arms, we both cried tears of joy. Your birth was the most cherished moment of our lives. Everybody in the family was happy for having you as a gift from God. I can recall that day when you were born was a Jewish holiday, Rosh Hashanah and we named you Nathaniel meaning a gift from God. At birth, you resembled your uncle Radik very much, and people started referred to you as ‘mini-radik’ but as days went by, you again begun to resemble your aunt Emily. You also had large eyes and long lashes like me. Your changes because of physical development always made my heart melt with joy plus the numerous smiles from when excited. Even though am not sure if I have been a great mother to you, but you were a blessing to me. You were always my reason for happiness as well as a happy marriage with your dad. As days passed by things begun to get difficult and at times I found myself with hard and straining tasks. The non-stop crying since you wanted to feed within a three-hour period, how you dirtied yourself; as a result either urine, excreta or vomit and your refusal to suck when being breastfed. When breastfed you only held to the breast without sucking, you were too lazy. This shocked several people including the lactation consultant and he advised that the milk had to be put in the mouth for one to can drink. The most devastating of all times came when you were sick. We had to see the Doctor severally from when you were born since you had an enlarged kidney that needed medication and monitoring to see its development. You also developed minor crazy complications including a diaper rash that had to be controlled by applying a special butt rash. In spite of all that we also noticed traces of blood in your excrete. The traces of blood were because of an allergy to the milk formula we gave you, and this forced us to shift to a more expensive ‘neonate infant’ method. The new formula too gave you constipation, but we considered it much safer in comparison to blood traces. Many times, I agonized over the course of action to take, but your dad’s all time support together with the doctor always had solutions for me. I have always wanted the best for you and you to be the best in return. No amount of cash or effort would be equivalent to the cost of seeing you in either discomfort or a price similar to seeing you give me that charming smile. At someone point after birth, you were blind then developed to two months old and could only but watch with curiosity. You have now grown and can stand your two feet, just like your dad you love to sleep and stay naked always-detesting change of clothes. Furthermore, you are an active and playful child who makes us proud to note your development, as you are now able to stand on your feet. You love to roll over, play on the mat and tummy time and being tickled, listening to Yanni on Pandora among others. Saliva is also always drooling from your mouth as you try to communicate. We love to play and tickle either your nose or whenever we play with you. You always reward us with your infectious smiles that lights up our hearts like a forest fire and we want to take photos with you. Seating you in the aquarium gets you relaxed as you can sit down and watch. Several times, I have dreamt of you standing on your two feet, walking and finally running. The scene then shifts to you at the table with your favorite meals clad in your academic attire then proceeding to school. A public praise of your development is in my mind of the beautiful words of encouragement I intend to tell you when you grow up (Naseem, 2010, pp. 36-37). All your other relations both maternal and paternal also love you. When I visited your maternal grandparents on the second day of Rosh Hashanah, we celebrated and were to remain there for a period of 2 weeks and act as the basis for motherhood. On the day, you were circumcised which was on September 30, 2014 we had the biggest party ever. Everyone ate and drank to his fill as a way of celebrating your development another step. Your dad in particular was euphoric and prepared well for it by buying guest items as well as drinking excessively that day. It took the help of your maternal grandpa to get him to the house. You are paternal grandmother who always remains with you when I was young were so loving and amazing. Even the new puppy that we bought loves to sit next to you and watch what you do. Daddy got a decorated Christmas tree for you while Uncle Boris bought you a cute pair of Burberry jacket and shoes. The big number of sneakers by your father and several toys in your cot is also another sign of our pride and unending love for you. All this were done as a sign of showing our love affection joy of having you in our lives. The joy that was purely unequal to any material gain. Your dad took us to the mall with you dressed as an ‘elf’ who is ‘santa Claus’ little helper to take pictures with Santa. Although you may be young in body but we envision you to one day be as big as Santa and extend the family lineage. It is at the mall that you first announced you were ready to be born, and we took you back so that you would one day fill a bigger role. The role includes making us proud since you were made with a different purpose and unique intention. My son growth does not come physically but from the heart and mind. The anticipation of a child’s growth is also the growth of parents. When your child goes to school, you as parents also go in with him without being aware of it until its time when he takes up responsibility when you realize the feelings were mutual.
