Abortion and Public Opinion Abortion and Public Opinion The issue of abortion has been a critical topic that every person worldwide has been everyday discussing about. Therefore, in this research, we are going to answer some of abortion questions that remain unanswered. Following the legalization of abortion, the number of abortion has been at an upsurge trend. Most of the affected age group is young girls where some are still at school. Due to abortion being legalized, a lot of rhetoric questions have been remained a dilemma to many people in various nations. Since several interviews have been done, those interviewed seem also unable to answer the question whether abortion should be legalized or not. On the other hand, since number of abortion has increased at a high rate, the question that has remained answered is whether doctors should be blamed for the rise of number of abortion cases. However, cases such as immoral behavior, technology, poverty, peers influence and the parent relationship with their children have increased the incidences of abortion. Abortion and Modern Technology The extent to which abortion cases have been in a certain percent been contributed by the modern technology. New reproductive and life-sustaining technology has been positive to the society but in some cases, it has contributed negatively to the society. For example, women have been encouraged to abort fetuses in hospitals. Since abortion was legalized in many nations, women are currently walking in and out of hospital now and then to abort fetuses. On the other hand, through technology, new drugs have been invented to terminate pregnancies immediately after conception. Such drugs include an emergency contraceptive pill that has been commonly used by young women to terminate unwanted pregnancies at their teenage. Additionally, women are taking pills containing hormone progesterone to prevent fertilized egg from implanting itself in the wall of the uterus. On the other hand, new technology used in life sustaining has exploited teens that has continuously used internet to access certain websites to watch unethical films such as pornography. As a result, they develop the urge to engage in early sex and end up obtaining unwanted pregnancy. Therefore, due to their young age and harsh parents, they end up going for abortion. Moreover, high incidences or rape cases have also contributed to rise in number of abortion all over the world. Considering female contribute the highest number of rape victims, some of them end up getting unwanted pregnancies. Therefore, because such pregnancies are unplanned they end up going for abortion (Mark, 2000). Sanctity of Life We look at the morality of abortion from perspective of sanctity of life; we can argue that life is a sacred gift offered by God to humankind. Therefore, when we examine the idea of abortion of a fetus will automatically lead to a conclusion that abortion is immoral and it should be practiced. Just as an adult has the right to live and performing murder is illegal, the same case applies to abortion. For example, once fetus is formed, it attains life and becomes a living organism in its potential future. Therefore, aborting a fetus acts as killing and denies the fetus the value and right to life just as it is taken when one member of the society kills the other. Therefore, we can firmly criticize the argument that fetus is not living since it is still unborn hence has no right to life by supporting the fact a fetus could have a presumptive right to life only if the mother had no right to control their bodies. On the other hand, we commit homicide every time we fail to provide someone with whatever he or she needs to live hence abortion deny the fetus the chance to live. Additionally, as moral people, we should discourage abortion by asking those who abort a simple question, what if their mothers aborted them. On the other hand, there is no distinctions that support that personhood is achieved at a later stage of development. Therefore, the fetus being aborted and the mother who is aborting it have anillegitimate right to life. Abortion violates humanistic gift from God of the equality of human lives hence abortion is never right exceptwhen done to save the life of the mother and there is no other way to save her (John, 2012). Decision of Abortion The idea on who is responsible for abortion is another area that has raised dilemma on many people idea on abortion. Therefore, there is need for clarity on the responsibility of abortion especially for a couple. In many circumstances, women are blamed by the society for abortion while in the case of a couple both the man and woman are supposed to held responsible for the abortion act because it is a decision contributed by both of them in their relationship. The reason for a couple to abort a fetus of their own may be contributed by the fear to responsibility concern with bringing up the child either due to both parents disagreements or due to poverty. For such situation, the couple should be educated that a fetus is an innocent being; therefore, killing a fetus is wrong just like killing an innocent person is always wrong. On the other hand, a health care professional my influence the case of abortion when they assist the mother to abort an innocent fetus. When a mother seek medical advice to kill an innocent fetus and she is advised by unethical medical professional to abort while the mother does not have any complications to deliver the baby normally, the medical professional can be said to have influenced the case abortion in such situation. Therefore, for the medical professional to act ethical, they should give counseling advice to the women who come to them for counseling to encourage them deliver the baby because a woman can lose her life when trying to abort fetus a at a certain critical stage to be aborted to ensure the medical professional saves the life of both human. Moral Ethic against Abortion When we look at abortion with regard to moral ethics, abortion acts violates the moral ethic of a person especially those who abort with no good reason. When the mother denies fetus the right to life by killed it under no condition, such an act is taken to be unethical in the society because denying an innocent person the right to life is restricted by the norms of the society. Moreover, God has given every living being a chance to life. Therefore, aborting a fetus may kill a leader of future who can assist a nation in certain unviewed way. The other hand, when a doctor become responsible of assisting a pregnant woman to abort an innocent fetus without a critical medical status of the mother, therefore, the physician violates the oath of protecting the life of patient. Althoughmedical professionals require that physicians should meet the legitimate medical needs of their patients, they are not supposed to contribute killing an innocent fetus with regard to respect of a normal mother who just wants to kill the fetus without any good reason. Therefore, when medical professional assist in abortion in such situation, it is regarded as unethical. However, medical professionals should not legitimately object to provide emergency contraceptives for the reason of protecting the incidences of unplanned or unwanted pregnancies that would lead to abortion. Therefore, when medical professional act in such a way, he or she become morally legitimate because he or she tries to be more responsible and cautious to protect the incidence of killing an innocent fetus (Mary, 1989). Therefore, the number of abortion cases that has been at an increasing rate can be reduced by encouraging the society to practice moral ethics of being responsible for their own wrongs in case one become pregnant out of irresponsible behavior instead of aborting hence killing innocent fetus. Abortion of an innocent fetus, acts as way of denying the fetus the right to life. Therefore, to prevent irresponsibility that leads to killing innocent fetus, women should be encouraged to use pregnancy preventive measures such as taking emergency contraceptive pills. On the other hand, unwanted pregnancies of married couples that can lead to abortion can be prevented by participation of both parties in family planning and not the woman as it is in most incidences. However, in the case of saving the life of endangered mother and there is no other option to save her life, it would be ethical for the medical professional to have the abortion in order to save the life of the mother holding the fact that the rights of an actual person always outweigh those of potential person. Following this two argument, we can conclude that although legalized in many nations worldwide, abortion should have restriction with conditions in order to protect the right to life for the mother and the innocent fetus. On the other hand, there should vigorouscampaign all over the world to educate the society on the prevention measures to create awareness of the need to protect killing of innocent fetuses over irresponsible behavior through increased number of abortion cases.
