Summary of the proposed research The project aims at promoting and sustaining the environment by using solar power to manufacture computer and electronic products. Computer products are in high demand because of the informational people are living in, making the project worth investing in. the design of the building will provide some 2000 sq. meters for putting solar panels on the roof. It will help to utilize the space occupied by the panels and the plant. The commercial aspect of the project is to the cornerstone of it because computer products are in high demand. The projects want to inspire people to think of ways of manufacturing structures that can sustain itself and doesn’t affect the environment. It would revolutionize the building of manufacturing plant and helps in the generations to come in designing buildings that will sustain the environment. The project will require experienced architects who are innovative and aware of the environment. The architects will consult with environmental officials to ensure the plant is located in an ideal space. The manufacturing plant is a green plant because it won’t affect the environment through emissions and can be located anywhere provided there is enough space. The materials proposed by the architects should be readily available. The project can located in the outskirts of London because it is less busy compared to the central district division. Literature review The proposal will use the theory of defined structures. In this theory, it the manufacturing plant and structures must have a defined shape and all elements must be defined. During its designing stage, all construction materials are identified and stated. The structures are drawn to show how the building will appear. In this case, the construction of the structure will give room for the manufacturing plant. The design will give provision where the solar panel will placed in order to maximize expose to the sun. The theory will offer guidance in the development of the concept. The concept is then transformed into reality after funding is found sufficient and contractors have looked at the building plan. The project will hire quantity surveys to tabulate the cost of the building after it has been designed. The project should be finished within four to five years. The project will cover the cost of all the proposed activities from planning, designing, approval and building. All the activities have a strict timeline and should be followed. All the costs and expenses of the project will be covered by the Arab Investment group through the National Bank of Kuwait. They will fund the project with £ 1 billion. The funds will be sent to the project manager in order to budget and allocate funds into specified tasks. The project will be audited regularly to ensure that funds are properly utilized. The project will also be monitored by the environmental department to ensure that all the materials used cannot pollute the environment. The project will employ at least 5 architects to fasten the designing of the building. Five quantity surveys will be employed to determine the quantity of materials to be used. Ten foremen and nine thousand casual and semi-casual workers will be employed to build the manufacturing. Workers will be divided into two: those building the structure to house the manufacturing plant and those who will assembly the manufacturing plant. The work program will be divided into four phases Phase 1 The phase entails proposing the project to experts for analysis in order to determine its feasibility. The feasibility of the project gives it the green light to implement the project and design the pinnacle. The Project intends to hire five experienced architects to design the manufacturing plant. The manufacturing plant consists of the structure which has solar panels and the plant itself. They should show the position of the solar panel. The designing should take five months and costs £ 2 million, which is the fee for architects and materials used to draw the plan. Phase 2 After the designing of the solar powered manufacturing plant, the plan is then taken to the city officials to approve the location and materials to be used in the construction of the building. The city officials will inspect and approve the project. The approval should take two months with no direct cost. The phase will incur indirect expenses such as meals and travel expenses which should be allocated £20000. The approval of the project will allow the project to proceed. Phase 3 The phase will deal with the procurement of building materials and selection of contractors will construct the building. The engineering contractors should use the estimates of building materials as per the estimates given by quantity surveys. The contractors will only qualify when they have structural engineers to oversee the planting of the structure to house the manufacturing plant, and manufacturing engineers to assembly the manufacturing plant. The process of selecting a contractor will take six months. The contractors will be given another six months to outsource workers and transportation of building materials. The cost in this phase should be Phase 4 It entails the construction of the manufacturing factory and assembling of a manufacturing plant that will use solar energy. If the contracting company has eight thousand workers, they should take three years to complete building the manufacturing plant. Three years is enough because it gives them an allowance of six months. Work plan The work plan will from the idea of solar powered manufacturing plant. The idea will generate proposal which will make architect to design the building. The climatic change is severe and any project that will promote and sustain the environment should be highly welcomed. The project has its shortcoming. The location of the manufacturing plant experience severe winter which might not produce enough energy for production.
