What Are the Risks of Climate Change and Global Warming? Research paper contains appropriate and clear information together with assumption of the question that concerns the problem of risks of climate change and global warming. The purpose of this paper is to understand and investigate the principal risks of global warming concerning our planet and all living creatures there. Paper consists of the introduction, main body and conclusion. The introductory paragraph reflects the brief overview of the notion of global warming and counts the areas that are under the huge influence of climate change. Main body contains the appropriate representation of the information together with the critical analysis. The problems of risks of global warming on people, animals, plants, water and weather are included. The information is proved by the examples from different investigations in this area. The conclusion provides an assumption of the given information. The method used is particularized examination of the literature together with the critical summarizing and personal inferences on the topic. The research works of different scholars together with logical argumentation is included to the paper. Key words: global warming, nature, climate changes, devastation. It is relevant to mention that global warming is considered to be a serious process of a climate change in our planet that brings a number of unpleasant consequences into the different spheres of human and nature existence. It is admitted that this particular problem “is expected to have far-reaching, long-lasting and, in many cases, devastating consequences for planet Earth” (Bradford, 2014). The process of global warming is inevitable and it involves a number of significant risks for the human life in particular and world in general. Climate changes under consideration provide negative influence on people, animals and plants, fresh water, oceans and ecosystems (UCS, 2011). To such extent, all the humanity needs to understand the influence of global warming and to perform everything possible to decelerate this process. The rising of temperature is considered to be the principal effect of the global warming. It is relevant to admit that “global average temperatures have already risen by at least 1.1 degrees Fahrenheit (0.6 degree C) and further warming of at least 0.7 degree F (0.4 degree C)” (Biello, 2009). That causes risks concerning the different areas in human and nature existence in our planet. First and foremost, it is relevant to talk about impact of global warming on people. The matter is that climate change has an influence on people’s health, nutrition and social life. The American Medical Association talks about the increase of “mosquito-borne diseases” such as malaria and dengue fever (Bradford, 2014). Also, there are some suggestions concerning the question of rise “of chronic conditions like asthma” (Bradford, 2014). Such diseases are regarded as the straightforward result of global warming processes and are considered to be rather unpleasant for people. Together with the health risks humanity acquires the thread of food provision. It should be admitted that with the extreme climate change and temperature rise the productivity of crops together with the livestock can be reduced (UCS, 2011). Moreover, global warming leads to the alteration of planting and harvesting processes that are accompanied with the delay of products. Also, scientists argue about the increase of pests that are appeared due to the climate changes and bring harm to the agricultural crops (UCS, 2011). In addition, it is relevant to admit that commercial fisheries are under the risks of climate change and global warming. This industry may be negatively marked on human consumption and may bring different infectious deceases (UCS, 2011). The question of water use is also significant in such a situation, as climate change threatens “water availability, access, and even quality” (UCS, 2011). Social risks that are caused by global warming cover the question of people’s wealthy and comfort. The matter is that problems with health and appropriate nutrition demand rather big amount of money. Furthermore, with the reducing of productivity the costs of everyday needs become higher and people are in need to pay more for their clean water and nutrition (Bradford, 2014). The damage of property and infrastructure is possible to regard as one of the consequences of global warming and in such a case people are in need to pay for the nature disasters. Another important issue under consideration is flora and fauna of the Earth. It is essential to admit that the alteration of climate has an extremely huge impact on the representatives of flora and fauna in our planet. The matter is that the behavior and survival of a huge number of species and plants are predetermined by the climatic peculiarities of locality in which they exist. The process of global warming changes the temperature and precipitation of the surrounding (IPCC, 2007). To such extent, many species have a small chance for survival and are in need to change their locality. For example, it is admitted that “some butterflies, foxes, and alpine plants have moved farther north or to higher, cooler areas” (IPCC, 2007). In addition, it is worse to admit that the rising of temperatures will expand “the range of many disease-causing pathogens” that will kill animals and plants in tropical and subtropical areas of our planet (Bradford, 2014). Moreover, some representatives of flora and fauna become extinct for the sake of climate changes. For example, scientists admit that “tens of millions of trees have died in the Rocky Mountains over the past 15 years”, and they are considered to be victims of “climate-driven triple assault of tree-killing insects, wildfires, and stress from heat and drought” (UCS, 2015). Such implications are remained to be extremely harmful, serious and unpleasant for the Earth. The next point under consideration is remained to be the fresh water in the Earth. The matter is that humanity is not able to survive without water; and all organisms are in need of water. Therefore, it is relevant to admit that warm climate stimulates “the evaporation of water from land and sea” what gives the atmosphere an opportunity to hold more moisture (UCS, 2011). This particular process brings to the huge number of extreme precipitations in the Earth that bear some negative consequences. On the other hand, there are some areas that are extremely dry. Small amounts of water and precipitations can be observed in such locations (UCS, 2011). It is possible to notice the expansion of such extremely dry areas in the Earth nowadays. Special attention should be given to the problem of melting ice as that is one of the hardest consequences of global warming bringing negative changes to the discussed areas. The matter is that ice is melted together with the climate change and it leads to the rising of sea-levels and unpredictable flash floods (UCS, 2011). It is suggested that “in 2014, the World Meteorological Organization reported that sea level rise accelerated .12 inches (3 millimeters) per year on average worldwide” (Bradford, 2014). That is considered to be the high numbers in comparison with the last century. In addition, it should be admitted that with the rising of sea level endangers coastal living areas and changes ocean chemistry (UCS, 2011). Such consequences lead to the risks of human lives and impair the ability of coral reefs (UCS, 2011). Also, melting ice leads to the rising of temperature in the Arctic and threatens species that exist in this particular area (UCS, 2011). It is possible to admit that the weather experiences huge changes with the process of global warming. Weather conditions transform with the climate change. An increase of extreme weather events is remained to be the basic consequence connected with global warming (UCS, 2015). An amount of “heat waves, coastal flooding, extreme precipitation events, and more severe droughts” became more and more ordinary for our planet (UCS, 2015). Moreover, global warming constructs conditions that can lead to hurricanes of a huge and devastating power (UCS, 2015). Taking all facts under consideration, it is possible to conclude that global warming is regarded as a serious and essential climate change that leads to the devastation of nature and brings a number of negative implications in people’s life. It is relevant to admit that global warming provides an influence on a huge number of different areas concerning people, animals, plants, water and weather. That is considered to be the basic components of life in the Earth and they are under the risks. Therefore, government in general and every person in particular is in need to do everything possible for the saving of our planet. Reference List: Biello, D. (Feb 27, 2009).
