Introduction Global Pollution is one of the most important concerns in the world. Pollution has resulted to a lot of adverse effects in the natural resources like air, water and soil. Pollution has been in a bad shape after world war second due to use of radioactive substances and atomic warfare. Undoubtedly due to high increase in pollution there had been many incidents resulting in loss of life of people. After understanding the effects resulting from pollution there has been restrictions made in many sectors and initiatives have been take to decrease the amount of pollution. Humanity has reached in such a phase that pollution can not be stopped at one glance. However there should be more appropriate laws and instructions given to people so that pollution can be controlled and life on Earth can be sustained. This research essay supports the thesis statement. Thesis Statement “Pollution around the world has deteriorated the quality of natural resources like air, water and soil and there needs to be proper steps taken so that life can be continued and prolonged in this planet.” Analysis The most important challenge in front of the world today is pollution which has been discussed by several theorists and scientists. According to most recent analysis and observations it has been seen that there is a tremendous effect on atmosphere due to pollution. Reports say that due to huge pollution from industries, vehicles, smoking and other factors the catastrophic protection is going for a toss. Due to pollution the global warming concerns are there and this is a serious threat to the world. The global warming can result in melting of snow and ice from the polar region and result in flood in the coastal areas and plains. Not only this, due to rise in temperature the world is loosing many species of animals and plants resulting imbalance in the ecological system. Due to rise in air pollution not only plants and animals suffer but human beings also face problems. As per observations it has been seen that children suffer from asthma, speech disorder and sleep disorder due to wheeze. Children aged between, 13-14 mostly get affected by asthma and children groups age between 5 and 7 are affected by speech and sleep disorders. The study was done in 97 countries and for 12 months. This clearly reflects the effect of air pollution in children. Air pollution is also responsible for change in weather conditions and monsoon change. Due to air pollution during monsoon season we do not get to see rain water and the peninsular rivers have no water for supply. Due to this people experience droughts and famine. The loss of ecological balance is a very big concern and there should be possible steps taken to reduce the effect of air pollution. Apart from air pollution there is another challenge in front of the world that is water pollution. Water pollution was very much in picture in the nineteenth century however in the modern world the pollution in water is being controlled. The main reason water pollution is the industrial wastes and sewage directly been thrown in rivers. Because of pollution of river the water that people drink is polluted and it gives birth to several types of diseases. Similarly plants and animals who have to drink water directly from river gets affected the most. Due to high pollution in water the places located near river banks most of the time suffers from flood resulted from pollution. “Water pollution is also responsible for imbalance in hydrological cycle” (Agarwal 12). As per observations it has been reported that the amount of rain occurred in 1970 and 1980 has lessened down in recent year. People experience less rain which is a result of water pollution. Hence there should be sufficient steps taken to neutralize the threat caused from water pollution. “Soil pollution is also one of the most important factors that affect the nature’s balance in the ecological system” (Kumar 3). The main reason of soil pollution is garbage that is being thrown everywhere. There are many harmful particles in garbage which causes soil to loose its fertility. Because of this reason there is less growth of crops and amount of food produced becomes insufficient for people. The most harmful substance that causes soil pollution is plastic. Plastic is manufactured from harmful chemicals and it is hard to decompose plastic. Due to plastic there are many gases produced from dump areas and it causes many life taking diseases. Soil pollution also needs to be controlled before it takes a bad shape. These are three most important threats to the world in form of pollution. There have been many discussions about these issues so that pollution can be reduced. There are many arguments also regarding different observations and proposals. Discussion The modern society as we see today has changed a lot from the ancient times. Undoubtedly there are many developments around the world. Life on Earth is much comfortable than we have studied about life in seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. It is true that for one comfort people have to loose other. Hence the problem has very limited solutions. The first point that is important to know is air pollution is mainly caused by industries, vehicles, refrigerators, air-conditioners, cooking chimneys and other sources. It is not possible to shut down these sources that cause air pollution. The reason is people are habituated with the kind of life that we see. Moreover the production units for cars or refrigerators provide working opportunities to people and hence national economy depends on these sources. This is the major challenge if these sources can not be stopped from polluting the nature then pollution will always be a problem and some day it might destroy life on Earth. There are many measures taken to check the pollution in air like many industries use equipments that can reduce the harmful particles in the smoke produced. Railways prefer electric engines compared to diesel, people are in verge of manufacturing vehicles that are eco-friendly and can produce less smoke. These are some steps taken in order control the amount of pollution that is made every day. However the question remains same i.e. “Is it sufficient and are people safe from destruction (Derr and McNamara 186)?” It is not sufficient and the world is not yet safe. No-doubt the measures that have been taken to check pollution has reduced some affect but a major portion is still polluting the atmosphere and it can not be stopped. Apart from air pollution there is also Water pollution which is equally responsible for destruction of life on Earth. Water is a very important resource in this planet, it has many uses. Life is not possible without water. Due to pollution use of water directly is not entertained in many places across the globe. Undoubtedly there have been many measures taken by not polluting river water directly by many industries but the challenge still remains there. There are many places where proper steps are not being followed and water pollution is still happening. Mostly in developing countries, the pollution is greater compared to other developed countries. But the problem is same for all that is “Is water safe for animal and plants (Mauseh 92)?” The answer is No. Most of the people know that pollution has taken such an adverse face that water pollution is tough to be controlled. Another part of the discussion is soil pollution. Soil pollution has been controlled in various part of the world. But there are places where soil is still a matter of concern. Even after knowing and experiencing the adverse effect of soil pollution it is still there in picture. There should be proper law in place in order to control soil pollution completely. Many experts have mentioned that soil pollution has been taken under control but after research and surveys it has been found that there are laws incorporated but some people hardly follow the rules and pollution still remains a matter of concern for the world. Findings Based on the facts and evidences discussed above it is clear that pollution is one of the most major challenges that the world is facing today. In support to the thesis statement mentioned above it can be proved that if pollution is not controlled it is going to bring life to an end. From the discussion it is clear that there are some steps taken for controlling pollution however it is not sufficient. First of all government needs to focus on all important reasons for pollution and serious rules needs to be in place so that it can be controlled. Air planes with lighter smoke emission should be allowed. Vehicles producing smoke should not be allowed. In the developing countries there should be strict laws and punishments if laws are not followed. Ships in water should be encouraged only if it is important and necessary. Unnecessary use of resources should not be entertained. Air-conditioners and refrigerators should not emit CFC in air. The emission of CFC results in depletion of Ozone layer that protects the atmosphere of Earth. “Usage of plastics should be banned completely and several alternatives should be used so that garbage-can should be decomposed” (Binggeli 63). These are some major steps that can be implemented in order to check the amount of pollution in the atmosphere. However that is not enough. Each and every individual should be aware of the results of pollution. Unless people are not aware of the problems completely the remedies will not help much. Reduction in pollution will not only help people to have healthy natural resources it will also make the world a safer place to live. Conclusion From the above examples and evidences it is clear that global pollution is one of the greatest concerns in the world and people need to unite together to fight against this problem. It has already been observed from the analysis that there have been many steps taken to overcome this issue but it still remains a matter of concern. Global pollution is a question to the modern society about the sustainability of life on earth. As discussed there are many arguments by different theorists related to this issue and many solutions have been proposed. The main problem is people from different regions will have to come together to sort out the problem and follow the guidelines set up by government for longevity of life on earth. Hence it can be said in support to the thesis statement that pollution around the world has deteriorated the quality of our planet’s natural resources and there needs to be preventative steps taken for continuation life on this planet.
