What is the difference between developed and developing countries? In what ways do developed countries affect developing countries? Developed countries have the necessary resources for their people to properly give them so that they can make their living in a well-organized manner. The developing countries have problems since they cannot find resources enough for their own survival needs. The developed countries are usually the ones which are either the first world countries as well as some of the second world nations as well. The developing countries comprise of the second world nations and the third world countries. The developing countries are also known by the term ‘underdeveloped’ nations. This is because they are under the process of development and therefore proper understanding is given to their struggle to become developed in a specified period of time. It usually depends on the nation how much time it will take to turn from a developing country to a developed one. The funds that the developing nations receive from different world bodies and international organizations suggest the type of dependence it has on these organizations. The developed nations usually do not involve themselves with taking these funds while the developing nations depend a great deal on these funds for their proper infrastructural growth and resource usage purposes. The basic difference however between the developed nations and the developing ones is that the developed nations understand what they possess within their countries while the developing nations have some difficulty in understanding what their strengths are and how best they could use these resources for their own benefits. The role of donor agencies like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is important to understand here. This is because similar financial organizations are playing with the lives of the poor men and women within the developing countries. They have developed certain policies which go against the very essence of living in these nations. This is indeed a joke with their basic living needs. They are being taxed heavily, subsidies are usually not given and all efforts are being made to put them under trouble in one way or the other. It is a proven fact that the developed countries rely on the use of their resources in order to earn benefits and make lives easy for their own people. The developing nations however depend on these developed nations to help them through difficult times, which are usually for long period of time. The developed countries focus on maintaining and sustaining growth levels while the developing countries think about the short term goal problems which could be fixed with loans, subsidies and grants from international donors. The aid agencies help these developing nations on a consistent basis and this suggests the dependence of the developing nations towards these global financial bodies and concerns. There is a need to properly understand one’s strengths and this is important from the perspective of the developing countries which usually have very little knowledge of the resources that are available within their countries. However due to lack of proper infrastructure, manpower and machinery within these developing nations, the problems seem to become huge with the passage of time (Wignaraja, 2002). With the help and assistance of developed nations, the developing nations try their best to get back on their feet but this usually takes a long amount of time before something beneficial comes to the knowledge of everyone. The financial spending patterns and the way in which budgeting is done for these developing nations depends on the international donor bodies and the aid agencies. The reliance on these international financial bodies and organizations means that there are hardships and troubles faced by the developing countries and these need to be changed so that prosperity can come within the developing countries in a quick way. When it comes to the political aspects that differentiate between the developed countries and the developing countries, one finds that the developed countries have democratic set ups while most of the developing countries still have either authoritarian governments or dictators ruling their nations. This suggests quite a lot about the manner in which these developed and developing countries have been seeing their politics. It is important to understand that democracy ensures that the political voice of people gets heard and people are given the room to elect their own representatives. They have their own voice and the nation understands it through a process where they cast their votes. Even the superpower nation of the world, which is a developed country essentially, elects its President through an election. The candidates run their campaigns which lead up to the election day where millions of people cast their votes. Therefore democratic set ups are seen as very important within the domains of the developed countries. The developing countries have however been unable to maintain democracy for a long period of time and there are a number of reasons why this has been happening for a long period of time now. Political perspectives are thus differentiated a great deal within the developed countries and the developing ones and this suggests the problems that essentially exist within them (Kiggundu, 2002). The IMF and other monetary organizations are posing as serious threats for the sake of development and growth within the developing nations. These turn in certain policies that go against the very essence of existence for the people. IMF, World Bank and other financial hubs are difficult to understand, more so when the countries involved are located within the third world comity of nations. The political aspects of the developed countries are handled by the state in a very well-dignified manner while the same political aspects in the developing countries are without a proper order and have anarchic nature to them. These political aspects need to be understood properly so that the developed countries and the developing ones could be better differentiated. The state machinery works in a very cohesive manner within the developed countries and the people have a sense of understanding and happiness with regards to the different working mechanisms which are present in such developed countries. However within the developing countries, there are some problems and the people are usually not happy with the state of affairs. The political powers are also governed by the financial institutions like the World Bank and IMF which dictate their terms to the people who matter the most within the governmental positions in the developing countries. Similarly people usually receive problematic situations whenever they get in touch with the public institutions within the state and therefore they show displeasure and resentment most of the times. The developed countries become role models for these developing ones since the developed ones have things running perfectly within them. The developing countries thus aim to become much like the developed countries. However this requires proper funding within the developing countries so that basic problems and issues of different nature could be avoided. Perhaps it is important to have strict policies in place within the developing nations so that these developing countries could learn quite a few things from the developed countries and thus get better things in their countries’ governments. The responsibility of the governmental heads and rulers is very important in such a discussion. The political policies and decisions which the developed countries make for the sake of the developing ones are very important. These policies tell the developing countries how they should run their political movements and governments learn quite a few things from them. The developed countries make policies which will be implemented in an easy way within the developing countries since the developed countries know that the developing countries have limited resources and funding problems within their folds. Thus these things are considered before the policies are designed and later on implemented so that there is a balance between the developed countries and the developing countries at the end. These policies are properly constructed so that there are no weaknesses within the system which makes up these policies. Once these policies have been designed, the next step is to make them properly utilized within the domains of the developing countries so that benefits could be attained in a very short amount of time (Lee, 2006). The effects of these policies are such that the developing countries find them easy to implement within their governmental affairs and hence sustainability is achieved sooner rather than later. Also the problems which the developing countries face on a consistent basis are minimized and thus there are lesser issues that come up for these developing countries in the future. It is all dependent on the manner in which the developed countries actually develop the policies which will have positive or negative effects for the developing countries. The implementation phase of these policies decides the effects which will be there for the developing countries in the end. Financially speaking, the role of IMF, World Bank, etc is important since they outline their basic agendas and want to achieve their goals no matter how difficult it is for the member nation. When the country finds itself shackled in the problems related with finances and over spending, the IMF and World Bank ask of this developing nation to undertake decisions which will obviously look to do things that are demanded by the political powers within the developed countries. Thus it is very important that the developed countries understand the needs of the developing countries and therefore make decisions which will make the developing countries cope up with the constant pressures which these nations face. This will be made possible when the linkages between these developed and developing nations is made stronger. This can only happen when they interact with each other every now and then, and have advantages for one another. These benefits could be in terms of trade, cultural relations, sports and entertainment, financial benefits, exports, imports and so on. International interaction decisions are taken by the governments of these developed nations and the developing ones. The governments need to realize how each one of them could prove to be advantageous for one another as well as for their own respective basis. The developing countries look up to the developed ones for help and assistance and this can only be made possible when the developed countries show warmth and confidence in being friends with the developing nations. This will make all of them work alongside each other as well as build up trust, confidence and credibility for the benefit of all of them. This indeed is the most important thing that must exist amongst different nations of the world.
