Global Warming in Asia Global warming has been identified as one of the chronic problems facing countries around theAsian region and the world. The climatic changes experienced in Asia bring along severe effects on different sectors and influence the way of living for the people of Asia. The sectors that are mostly affected by the climatic changes in Asia are Agriculture, Ecosystems, and water systems. However, some solutions have been devised in the effort to solve the situation in this region. This has been achieved by spotting the causes of climatic changes in Asia and identifying ways through which a halt to these causes can be established. As one of the causes, usage of coal for domestic purposes by Asian citizens has to be controlled in order to reduce the rate of global warming affecting countries around Asia. Economic activities that are embraced in Asia are identified as another of the major causes of climatic changes. Industries emit many poisonous gases that end up contributing to global warming. Scientific studies indicate that introduction of these poisonous gases affects the ozone layer, which in turn leads to global warming. With regard to this point, control of this action in industries has been identified as a major solution to climatic changes in Asia. Many other solutions have been proposed towards the control of global warming. One of the major effects of global warming is the reduction of production in the agricultural sector. Growth of agricultural products in large scale depends on the climatic status of a region. Agricultural products are helpful in the sense that they contribute to trade and help to regulate the supply of food among the Asian countries. During extremely hot climates, the growth of some helpful plants, which may not be favored by warm climatic conditions, is affected negatively. Similarly, during the extremely wet climates, the plants that do well only in warm climatic conditions end up not growing well or even not growing at all. This indicates that climatic change ends up influencing the general agricultural production. The agricultural sector is one of the most important sectors in every nation, including Asia. It is a major source of food, which is a basic need of the citizens (Impacts of Climatic Change in Asia). People cannot live without food, and it is the government’s responsibility to take care of such needs of the citizens. Food supply must be kept constant within the nations around Asia. Buying food from the international traders is also very expensive; the reason as to why the agricultural sector in the nation is greatly regarded. Apart from feeding the Asian people, the agricultural sector is also important in the sense that it earns significant revenues for the government. The acts of trade stimulated by the Asian farmers, help in money circulation in the involved nations. Affecting the sector, therefore, has a great impact on the financial foundation of Asia, and trade as an economic activity in the surrounding countries. The government has been pressured by the effect to come up with ways to save the agricultural sector in the nation. Flooding has been bad news in the destruction of the planted crops and has to be controlled if at all the future of agricultural production is to be promising (McKie). Secondly, another major effect of climatic changes in Asia is alterations in settlements. Many Asian citizens have been displaced, especially in the coastal areas, where flooding has been taking place regularly. Displacing people implies that they lose their land, property in it and sometimes their own lives. Many people have lost lives due to the climatic changes in these areas, which has scared many citizens from settling in such areas. Those that had already settled in the areas were displaced and ended up being homeless. The government has been having trouble trying to provide shelter for the victims. With many homeless citizens, the dependency rate in the nation increases, which is negative progress. Controlling climatic change will, therefore, be a great project with regard to making things easier and better for the entire nation. In most cases, people without shelter may not only end up depending on the government for provision of shelter but also food and clothing. Apart from the impact greatly affecting the government, it is felt by the involved citizens too. The pain and tremor of losing all the property, the established shelter and sometimes the loved ones, creates great influential shock on the victims. It may even end up causing them some illnesses that come up as a result of emotional disturbances. Illnesses brought about by stress include heart diseases, blood pressure and many others. Here, provision of health care chips in and the government is again forced to spend a lot of money in supporting the victims. To control this situation from spreading beyond the current state, global warming will have to be taken care of, or else the condition will become worse with time. Controlling global warming in Asia will be a lifesaving project too, as part of problems threatening the lives of Asian citizens will have been solved (Dincer, Midili, Hepbasli & Karakoc, 420). Another sector affected by climatic changes in Asia is the economic sector of the Asian nations. As discussed earlier, the effect on the agricultural sector transmits the impact to the economy by reducing the trade activities carried on by agricultural traders. This is because the financial circulation established and stimulated by the agricultural trade is reduced due to poor agricultural production. Exports of these products reduce with the increase of global warming. This happens as floods and desert conditions brought by the global warming experienced in the country lead to reduced agricultural production, which intern affects the quantity and quality of agricultural products supplied in the market for trade. With this reduction, the amount of revenue earned from this sector is decreased, which negatively affects the growth of the economy in the country. In the displacement of people, the economy is affected in the sense that the government’s expenditure is rapidly increased to create a capacity that takes care of the dependent people in the nation. The money is sourced from the government’s funds set aside for the running of various fundamental projects in the nation, which would help in the growth of the economy. Fetching of the money creates a delay in accomplishing the projects, an effect that distracts the growth of the economy of Asian nations. Fetching of government revenue also has an impact on the investments the government makes in the business sector. The pattern leads to deteriorations in growth of the economy. In addition, when Asian citizens are displaced, they end up not being productive in economic activities. This also creates a negative impact on the economy because they do not contribute to nation building activities leading to less revenue. Solving the global warming situation in Asia will hence move a long way in improving the economy of Asia (what Causes Climatic Change?). An environmental problem is also counted as part of the effects of global warming in the Asian states. This problem occurs when a rise in sea level is experienced, due to climatic changes. Apart from flooding and displacing people, or destroying crops, climatic changes also lead to a rise in sea level, which leads to submerging of islands. Apart from leading to the destruction of property and displacement of citizens, this effect also leads to the destruction of the environment. With such an effect on the environment, a lot of land is wasted, as water covering the land does not allow citizens to work on the affected portion of land. This means the land is not utilized until the effect is addressed to allow economic activities or settling. Again, it bounces to the Agricultural sector. Farmers are not allowed to cultivate the land, leading to reduced productions in the sector. Such environmental destructions also affect the number of foreigners visiting the nation. This happens in two ways, firstly, is the fact that the attractive features may be destroyed together with the environment in the process of climatic changes. This will definitely lead to a halt in the tourists visiting the nation to see these attractive features. Secondly, the fact that the environmental effect of global warming becomes well known across other nations, tourists from those nations may be scared away and fail to visit the nation. This will transmit the effects of global warming to the tourism sector of the economy. This is one of the most contributive sectors in terms of the government’s revenue in Asia. It earns the country foreign currency. This effect, therefore, will cause great disaster in the Asian nations. The government hence has to take care of the situation urgently before it extends to other sectors. To identify and implement solutions to global warming the government has to identify the causes first and terminate them. These causes include the usage of coal. Coal among any other fossil fuel produces carbon dioxide when burnt. This makes it harmful to the environment as it contributes to global warming. The carbon dioxide produced has an effect on the ozone layer, which ends up bringing about the climatic changes by increasing temperatures. Research indicates that many Asian citizens are fond of using coal for their domestic use, as it is cheaper than any other means of creating energy. This makes a large-scale production of the carbon dioxide gas, and it bounces to the environment as a large-scale effect. Apart from the domestic use of coal, global warming is also brought about by an increase in the production of poisonous gasses in industries and factories. This has become a major area contributing to the pollution of the environment. Many factories emit their waste products without caring about the welfare of the environment. This sequentially causes great effects on the ozone layer, which boost global warming across the region of Asia. Other ways through which poisonous gases are released to the environment is the usage of vehicles to travel. Vehicles consume fuel, which is burnt in the engine to make the vehicle operate. Again, burnt fuel here produces poisonous gases, which are released to the atmosphere, leading to stimulation of global warming. Deforestation in Asia has also contributed to climatic changes. Trees in the environment are found responsible for the regulation of air. This happens as trees breathe in carbon dioxide and breathe out oxygen. This means, while the industries and domestic activities produce carbon dioxide and other poisonous gasses, trees are busy saving the world and the environment by supplying the environment with oxygen. Bearing this in mind, the government should be able to draw solutions from these causes. Domestic usage of coal should be taken care of by supporting other means of producing energy for the intended purposes. This can be achieved by reducing the prices of other renewable sources of energy way below the prices of coal. This will entice many coal users and push them towards the renewable sources of energy. The renewable sources are friendly to the environment, and the production of carbon dioxide will be reduced, and in turn reduce the global warming in the Asia. Secondly, the government would solve the problem of global warming by setting limits to the amount of gases emitted by the industries and factories. This will again go a long way eliminating or reducing global warming and its effects in Asia. In order to solve the problem of climatic changes, it would be important to create awareness among the nations around Asia. It will be helpful to guide and educate them on the importance of growing more trees than they cut. Citizens should be made to know that they could be contributors in the war against global warming by reducing the rate of coal usage. They should be encouraged to live close to their work places or use public transport, in order to reduce the daily production of poisonous gasses in the atmosphere while using vehicles to travel to work (Ferrey & Cabraal, 245). In conclusion, the effects of global warming have been a chronic problem over many years in Asia. The reasons behind the condition have been speculated and solutions identified. This is out of the great pressure exerted upon the governments of nations around Asia, and on the citizens of Asia. Out of the global warming effects, governments’ revenue in these nations has been reduced. Many citizens have also been displaced due to flooding and other outcomes of climatic changes. People have also been separated from their economic activities by these outcomes, and potential tourists been scared away from visiting nations around Asia. It is vital, therefore, that recommended solutions be implemented. Works Cited Dincer, Ibragim, Midili, Adnan, Hepbasli, Arif and Karakoc, Hikmet, T. Global Warming: Engineering Solutions.
