Prophet Muhammad A role model is a person who provides leadership, motivation and inspiration. Religious role models provide spiritual leadership and help followers to lead their lives according to the tenets of their religion; while political role models lead their people on the path of justice, equality and good governance. Prophet Muhammad played an exemplary role in unifying his people, bringing some measure of peace among them, and defining the tenets laid down by Islam that were revealed to him, so that ordinary citizens could easily understand and follow them.
Fourteen hundred years ago, a humble, illiterate orphan named Muhammad, went on to become a rich merchant and changed the face of Arabia. This young man lived at a time when violence was the norm and through his work became a beacon of peace in the region. He travelled extensively for work, listening and learning on his travels about the customs, faiths and problems of people. He realized that the people needed to bond to be able to live peacefully. His reliance on observation and contemplation was his greatest strength. His open minded approach to problems, his humility, compassion and humaneness that taught people to return to old tribal values of helping the poor and downtrodden; endeared him to his people then, as they do today so many centuries later. His life is a shining example of a wise leader.
His policy of bringing the community of Medina together regardless of faith or tribe show a remarkable understanding of the power of unity in the face of external threat. His statesmanship is revealed in his exhortation to the people to create a just and decent society whereby by each member of the community took up the responsibility of maintaining peace and harmony. His emphasis on equality for all is enshrined in his farewell sermon as he reminds his people that “All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action.” (Prophet Muhammad, “Farewell Sermon”) The qualities of justice, compassion a willingness to learn and treat people of all denominations as equals are the hallmarks of a great leader. Prophet Muhammad displayed these abundantly. In a world riven by strife and violence, Prophet Muhammad’s guidance is sorely needed to heal the divisions between man and man and hence he is indispensable as a role model for today’s youth.

...could have been good -- i.e., act with good intention -- if someone “shoot[s] her.” Upon recognizing the armed men, the grandmother utters paradoxical words in contrast to her previous utterances: “I know you’re a good man … I know you must come from nice people” (O’Connor 237). The old lady knows, consciously or unconsciously, that the Misfit has the capacity and probably the will to kill her. The grandmother trembles as she speaks “[y]ou wouldn’t shoot a lady” (O'Connor 237). In this episode, one notices how selfish and manipulative the old lady is. She seems to be interested only in saving her life while Bailey and others die in the hands of the murderers. Despite her prior belief that modern-day men...

...of the book. The Psychological Legacy of Slavery Black attitude towards: Work The author has explained that the African-Americans were bonded by slavery and they toiled day and night not for their own profit but for the wellbeing of their masters. Naturally, there is a general inclination among the Black people about work – hatred. As a result, they started hating work and despised whenever they were made to it. The author believes that even after several years, those memories have strong effect on them. I would agree with the author on this view because the Black people express their hatred towards doing work very blatantly and survive their lives through other means such as cheating and gambling. Although, those works...

...a historic product and a historical construct. Here, although I completely agree with Akbar’s proposition that the legacy of slavery is still tormenting both the minds and souls of black people, it is difficult to buy his argument that black people are completely subjugated by the master narrative. For Akbar, the subjugation of blacks or the mental colonization of the blacks by the whites is total, unlimited and infinite as it knows no outside. From a dialectical perspective, on the contrary, one could argue that the white/black relationship is mutually dependent and, at least in the mental space, the blacks are more liberated than the whites as they have nothing to lose from the abolition of slavery. In other words, the...

The law enables the employers to agree on various terms with their employee and provides guidelines that form the basis of an employer-employee agreement(Seaquist, 2012). In addition, the law guides employers on the various questions they should ask their employees regarding their personal lives (Darlington, Schuman and Adams, 2008).
