?“Education is the hidden factor that develops the Human Society” Indeed it can be very strongly argued that, the education develops the society. From time immemorial it has been seen that, education has been considered as the backbone of any society. It is the intelligent and learned people who have been the reason for the many developments of the modern world. As a result it has been seen that, any society has been composed of a mixture of people with varying degrees of learning and educational backgrounds. History shows clearly that it is the intelligent and creative minds of such learned people, which have helped in fighting the problems of their generation, by means of the knowledge they had assimilated during the course of their education. The uneducated individual often is unaware of the happenings and developments that are taking place in the society and in the world surrounding them. As a result they are more involved in the process of looking out for odd jobs, which they could perform to make their livelihood. For the educated individual the scenario is totally different, since a plethora of opportunities open before them to discover the world and apply what they have learned during the years of education. It is a medium that trains the mind of any individual, since it helps to expand and bring out the inner capabilities, which are very much hidden within the self. For this reason education has been considered to be very essential for any person, who wants to make a mark for themselves in the present world. Though many external factors affect the quality of education that is being imparted to each individual, today most of the nations are concentrating inputting up their concerted efforts to make sure that, their citizens get proper quality education during the course of life. (www.ditext.com ) This brings to the point which emphasizes the fact that, education has to be imparted to an individual right from the childhood days, since it very well helps in training and fine tuning the mind of the individuals. As a result it is a well established that education is the most important thing, much required for leading a good life in the society. Indeed it is through education that, the individual’s mind gets properly trained and helps them in taking the right set of decisions. Taking the proper and right decisions is very vital for the survival of the human being in the present world. Education thus has got a very great significance as it forces the mind of the human being to think rationally, which very well distinguishes them from the rest of the illiterate crowd. Due to this much importance has been given by the modern day thinkers and the governments alike of the countries worldwide to impart quality education to their citizens, which will create plenty of job opportunities for them to take the right direction and progress in life. Thus the whole educated population present in the society will help the country to make rapid strides in the course of developing their respective economies, which will go a long way to bring prosperity to the entire nation and their fellowmen. (www.ditext.com ) The present day world is scientifically and technologically much advanced only because of the fact that, the majority of the current generation across the world is highly educated, which has revolutionized the modern society. It is only through the imparting of proper quality education that has trained the minds of the young generation, to critically think and take rational decisions which have been the cornerstone for all the success that has been achieved in the realms of science, arts and almost all other fields. This has been possible since in recent years, there has been a very wide spread of information as well as knowledge to almost all the corners of the earth, which has been enabled only by means of education. Though in most of the cases where the society and the country impart a form of general and basic education to its country men, it is seen that the vast majority of them do not pursue higher education. There could be many reasons attributed to this, which could have played a role in hindering the higher education for such people. But how far such general education helps in the development of the individuals and helps them in their material pursuits is yet to be seen. (www.ditext.com ) This is because in today’s world the quality of life in a particular society, is much endowed to the economic prosperity that it enjoys, which is directly related to the level of education of its masses. As a result the measure of the quality of the human resource of a particular nation depends directly on the number of literates present there. Thus it is very much certain that any nation that wants to be in the path of development has to make it a point to very well plan their strategies for imparting good and quality education to their citizens. This is the reason why most of the developed nations of the world have got a population with a very high literacy rate, which speaks volumes as to the reason why education is of prime importance for the people of a country. Examples of such well developed and prosperous nations across the world are the United States of America, United Kingdom, France and many others, which enjoy their present status and wield so much power on the world affairs. The same has been in the case of the development activities that have taken place in the Latin American countries through the improvement of the educational systems, which helps to sustain the growth in these countries. Though there are several socio economic factors that are behind the development for these Latin American countries, they have been very strong advocates for ensuring a proper education system, which plays a major role towards the development of the society of these countries. (www.highbeam.com) It is with this aim that most of the world nations chart out educational policies and where ever they find any shortcomings in the education sector, they try to fill up gaps by increasing the quality of education through various educational plans. Time and again this system has proved for itself since it is seen that whichever nation take the right steps in imparting the highest standards of education, have been able to achieve the pinnacles of growth and sustain development of their respective societies. Still many critics question this statement of development through the medium of education. This is because they are very much skeptical about the fact that, education is very much necessary for a society’s development. True that there are many exceptions wherein there have been thousands of people, who without even the basic and primary education have climbed up the ladders of society and have enjoyed the prosperity and riches that are enjoyed by their educated counterparts. History is filled with many such personalities who were illiterates and still have become millionaires. But even in such cases it can well be argued that, it is their sheer determination that has taken such people and the society to the heights of richness and popularity. Such critics project exceptions before the supporters of the education system. They are of the opinion that there are some countries in the world, which have become very strong and economically prospered only due to the presence of natural resources, though the literacy rates have not been that much satisfactory. Surely there might be exceptions to this rule but the extent to which an individual in a society face problems in business dealings as a result of the marginal knowledge due to lack of education is also well known. This is because it is the system of education, which makes any individual to imbibe knowledge in day to day life and help in the speedy exchange of information which makes them strong and confident enough to face the world. Thus it can be rightly said that each educated individual serves the society, by helping it to develop and make it strong and wealthy for the future generations. This is quite true since foreign countries would like to do business with well developed and educated countries, which makes such country’s economy very strong due to the inflow of precious foreign exchange. Socio economic growth and development of the various nations across the world can be only be achieved, by imparting the higher educational programs to the citizens. This trend is very well noticed when a comparison is made between the developed and rich nations, against the poor and poverty stricken nations of the world. It can be seen that most of the poverty stricken nations have very weak societies, which have failed to develop due to the lack of quality education being provided to their citizens. As a result this fact has been very well studied, researched upon and necessary steps have been taken by the world Organizations like the United Nations, which has felt that the main step to ensure the poverty eradication of any nation and bringing back the prosperity to the masses, can be done only by imparting quality education and improving the standard of education that is being presently provided to the citizens. (www.scidev.net) With this goal in mind the United Nations has already declared a decade for education, for achieving the sustainable development around the globe. Thus the years from 2005 to 2014 is the period within which the United Nation feels that, it can achieve a worldwide growth of the various economies, through imparting quality education to the world population. This is done with an aim to reduce the poverty among the masses and to ensure that, such people living in the poor and downtrodden societies get a good livelihood through the mode of education, which imparts the right set of skills to face life and the world, with much confidence than ever before. (www.earthzine.org ) Hence it can be seen that when the worldwide organizations like the United Nations, is very much keen and bent upon improving the educational system for sustaining development the across the world it can very well be concluded that, it is the education that is the key factor which helps in the overall development of any society in the world.
