6 March Benefits of education: Education has become more of a norm than a necessity in the modern age. It is necessary to be highly educated in the present age in order to get a good job (McKenzie). Education plays a major role in improving an individual’s skills in all fields. Modern society places a lot of emphasis on education. A person who is educated can socialize in a better way in the contemporary society. He does not encounter barriers that are conventionally placed in the way of uneducated people.

Every person gains education in a well defined field. Knowledge attained through professional education pertains to a specific field. Although higher education often does not include any teaching on morality or social norms, yet it plays a fundamental role in improving an individual’s socialization skills. During the attainment of higher education, an individual avails the opportunity to interact with people of same academic level and often more experienced professionally. Interaction with them not only provides an individual with an opportunity of making friends in the well educated class of the society, but also, the relationships thus developed benefit the individual throughout the life.

Education is a big barrier in the way of many bachelors who want to get married, particularly in the Eastern culture. Girls’ parents are too curious about the education of the bachelor who proposes to marry their daughter. This is because of the fact that education in the Eastern culture is seen not only as an academic achievement, but also as a fundamental prerequisite for getting employed despite the fact that a great number of young people in Eastern countries are earning from personal business more than regularly employed people.

This essentially suggests that education in the East may or may not be the pre-requisite for earning. However, the more education a bachelor attains, the higher the status of the family he can bring a wife from. Also, “At some point, people without degrees may become stagnant in their positions, especially when they feel they have reached the highest level of advancement based on their current educational backgrounds and scholastic accomplishments” (Smith). Thus, it can be said that education in the Eastern culture is the determinant of an individual’s social status irrespective of financial conditions.

Uneducated people in the East can not marry a girl from a higher social and financial status. If they do, likelihood of divorce at a later stage is very high. There is also quite a lot of population of uneducated people who remain single throughout their youth and keep assembling resources to start a family. Education decides not only the lifestyle of an individual, but also that of the children, and hence, the generations to follow. Lack of awareness is a major cause of the sufferings in the life of uneducated people.

An educated parent is aware of many such opportunities as scholarships and employment. Educated people have more access to sources of information than uneducated people. A person who has made search for scholarships himself can better guide his children in their search of the same. This and such other factors sustain the differences between the lifestyle of educated and uneducated people. Uneducated people are often also uneducated on the use of technology. A vast majority of people who are uneducated can not operate a computer, browse internet or do programming of any sort.

In such circumstances, uneducated people are left with quite limited sources of income as they do not know the use of computer that has become the fundamental tool for conducting business of any kind in the contemporary age. Lack of computer knowledge limits an uneducated person’s access to further information that educated people conventionally retrieve from internet. Thus, the extent of education of an individual also determines the extent of his knowledge. In the modern age, educationalists are placing huge emphasis on the inclusion of such subjects as sociology and ethics into the curriculum with a view to enhance the moral nurturing of the students along with their academic growth.

Although these courses formally educate the students on the complexities of ethical issues and inculcate a sense of rational decision making into them, yet it can not be said that those who do not go through such courses necessarily exhibit uncivilized attitude. Nonetheless, deliverance of proper education on the principles of ethics and morality does improve an individual’s response to matters in everyday life. To conclude, education improves an individual’s attitude and behavior in every matter of life.

An educated person has a higher social status and often, a higher financial status also as compared to an uneducated person. Works Cited: McKenzie, Ryan. “Benefits To Having An Education.” 2011. Web. 7 Mar. 2011. . Smith, Lori. “What Are the Benefits of Higher Education?” 2011. Web. 7 Mar. 2011. .
