For example, plastic materials are major villains in destroying our universe. The increased use of plastic materials in our daily life resulted in plastic wastes accumulating in large quantities everywhere. One of the peculiar properties of plastic materials is the fact that these materials will never undergo biodegradation. If we are able to recycle plastic materials properly, it is possible for us to use the finished plastic products again and again and thereby we can reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials. In short, recycling helps us to ensure the supply of the same material again and again.
In the waste management systems, recycling comes as the third Rout of the three R’s; Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Wastes are accumulating from all corners. Waste accumulation is going to be the most serious problem; we are going to face in the future. Waste management is taken as a serious topic by modern organizations because of the above awareness. Recycling has an important role to play in the waste management process.
“The importance of recycling is not only beneficial for the earth but also for businesses as they secure better relations with the consumers over the matter of saving the environment” (The Importance of Recycling). Corporate social responsibility and sustainable development are popular terms in business circles at present. Corporate social responsibility emphasizes the commitment of an organization to the community in which it operates whereas sustainable development is the process of development without causing any damages to the environment. Recycling will reduce the overexploitation of natural resources and it will reduce environmental pollution. Thus, recycling will help organizations to achieve both objectives.
Global warming and climate changes are some of the major problems which are haunting humankind at present. Many people are of the view that these problems were the creations of humans themselves. We exploited the natural resources injudiciously in the past and never thought that we are creating problems for us in the future. Recycling can help us to reduce the overexploitation of natural resources and thereby we can contribute to the environmental protection efforts.
The resources on our planet are finite and limited. At the same time, the requirements for these natural resources are increasing day by day. If we fail to reuse the available resources, again and again, it is quite sure that one day, all the natural resources may disappear from our earth. Recycling is the process that helps us to reuse natural resources again and again.
To conclude, recycling helps us immensely in protecting our environment and sustaining life on earth.
