?Can we ever know the true level of crime? Crime is defined as the breaching of laws, rules and regulations due to which a governmental ity canimpose or prescribe a conviction. The definitions of crime are separate and varied, as each one of these have differential meanings and implications. What is important to know is that crime is a deterrent to peace and tranquility within any society of the world. It is an evil which shakes the basis of peace and makes people go haywire with terror and trouble. Man has suggested for long that he is not treated in a proper way by the people who have the reigns of his life. However this seems to be an on-going tale which does not find any end at all. Wherever there is crime, there is punishment and this is because crime has its specific ramifications if understood in the most apt manner. One must understand that punishment and crime are inter-related and hence the former is something which shall directly or indirectly affect an individual within the moral and ethical concepts. The true level of crime must be ascertained before one can suggest where the ramifications and consequences could be deciphered. This paper discusses how crime is a deterrent to the different societies of the world and that its extent cannot be gauged in an easy way. An effort has been made to find out the true level of crime as it happens within the different terrains of the society and for that all-out measures are in place to tackle this menace from its roots. Crime exists because people who are its stakeholders believe in its existence. What this means is the fact that crime has a definitive place and position within the different domains of a society and it would be very difficult for a commoner to run away from either the crime or the one who is committing one such act – the criminal itself. Some are of the view that crimes are offences which are against the state or the public in essence and are thus differentiated from torts where the latter mean the offences against the private parties which can instigate a civil action or its related causes. The human societies might define crime as a very differential entity where distinguished societies hold different meanings and implications for the same concept. Some are of the view that this (crime) can be curtailed while others opine that it an uncontrollable aspect and should therefore be given more significance and consideration within the related aspects of human society, punishment and morality. Whatever it is, crime exists to thwart the basis of proper conduct amongst the people, bring about problems for the mankind and basically disrupt the basis of smooth sailing within the people on a societal level. The hierarchies get affected and hence criminals are given more significance than was necessary on their part. The authorities run after them yet they hardly find a criminal much to their dismay. This is the world of present times where criminals are more famous than the ones who perform the good tasks and are basically the saviors of the society. Moving on with the aspect of crime, the concepts of civil rights and civil law are both significant functions of civil society as it is the bubble of private action independent of the control of the government. One must remember that this is not free of governmental action because this secures the nature of the civil society through the protection of individuals against the criminal wrongdoings. It is essential to note here that the civil society is comprised of the people who are left by the government to regulate their respective pursuits with regards to the industry and improvement, however the protection brought forward by the government is in the form of the citizens from the criminal wrongdoings in the form of violence, fraudulent activities, robbery and thefts. The civil society always finds a way to keep away this criminal element from its domains. If the civil society does not play its part in an imperative manner, the crime rate increases and the sanity within the ranks of the society comes down drastically. Thus the essence of a civil society becomes complete when crime rate is minimal and when there is more room for tolerance within the people, as it empowers the people to live alongside each other and interact in an open and positive way (Garland 2002). Civil society always banks a great deal on how things shape up, and that too for the wellness of the people at large, as they are the eventual recipients in the long run scheme of things. Youth is generally held responsible for committing crimes of a heinous nature. This is because they are frustrated and want to get done with things quickly and without applying their mind to them. These crimes are carried out in a proper manner and look very organized in the basic sense of the word. The criminals believe that they derive the best energy from their work domains and hence they get motivated to commit more such acts in the future. Also politicians make use of these youth to go within the criminal regimes and carry out activities which can bring out the best mileage within their respective work realms (Hartjen 2008). The politicians therefore use these young ones to bring success to their own selves and in the process terrorize the society so that they start believing that the message spread by such politicians is the right one. The end result is that the people at large vote for these politicians, and thus they come to power and exert their negative influence to ruin the lives of the commoners. Further study into these quarters have proved that extreme cases of criminal behaviors have the youth involvement within their folds, which is a source of bane for the people when they try to comprehend the most basic ideologies of the youth who are falling into such traps. Therefore the role of the youth needs to be improved considerably so as to lower down the crime rate. Crime rate has arisen because there are extreme issues in the wake of poverty, hunger and lack of education. This is the reason why crime has drastically increased in different societies of the world. The world, as a whole, has felt the itch as far as the issue of crime and the criminals is concerned. They believe that criminals come from within their own aegis and hence it would be important to plug the gap between crime and the criminals so that they abstain from committing such heinous acts. If education is instilled upon their reigns, they would become better and more civilized individuals of the society and abstain from indulging in such acts which are purely criminal in nature. They should be told the difference between the heinous acts and what is remarked as the most civilized of activities because the latter is a much desired act on their part within any society of the world. Feeding the youth with food and giving them quality education would make them realize that if they plunge into the darkness of crime, they would never be able to revert back and hence mend their ways, so it is always a good exercise to keep them away from such realms, for the wellness of not only their own selves but also the society at large. Realization of the heinous acts and the differences that arise with the incorporation of the good deeds is something that should stand out within the performance of their tasks on a day to day basis. Discussing crime within the social domains, one must comprehend that crime comes directly under the aegis of social control and its determinants are the instigators which incite crime in the first place. Since crime is a deterrent within any society in the world, implementation of rules and policies which can thwart the crime regimes is an important manifestation. What this will do in essence is to tell all and sundry about the significance of keeping in line the crime control authorities and the related measures which are undertaken on a consistent basis to tackle crime from its roots. There are a number of reasons why crime must be stopped for the well-being of the society in the long run. The individuals suffer as a result of the crime waves which crop up every now and then, and it is always a good exercise to keep away criminals so that sanity could prevail within the related ranks (Haggerty 2001). This is important because it manifests how the civil society will act and what measures need to be taken in order to bring about a calming influence within the people of this world. In essence, crime is an important hindrance in the wake of achieving peace and tranquility within the different societies of the world, and it would only be natural to treat crime with a stern hand so that it does not exponentially increase with the passage of time. Proper measures and enactments need to be made towards the criminal law in order to ensure safety for all concerned because this is the need of the hour, no matter whichever region of the world one talks about. It is always a good suggestion to think of crime in a vein which is more balanced than anything else because criminals should be given a tough beating at the hands of the authorities and proper policing is the order of the day as far as these criminals are concerned (Ward 2007). Their activities must be controlled so that they cannot rule the roost and take the world for granted. Their activities and criminal behaviors should always be accounted for and proper documentation within such quarters remains an important undertaking on the part of the authorities who have been given the task to make sure crime remains a stranger to every society within the globe. The true level of crime can only be gauged when there is a clear cut definition of crime and how it goes about destroying the basis of sanity within this world. One must be very clear as to what exactly be termed as crime and what is indeed not a form of crime in essence. It is for this reason that crime has been seen as a sure deterrent because it brings a halt to peace and tranquility within the diverse societies of the world. Crime is dependent on the people who are allowing it to spread and that too in all directions, without any levels of understanding or comprehension coming to the fore. The true level of crime can also be ascertained when there are marked distinctions between the good and the bad within any society so to speak. What this suggests is the fact that crime must remain one step behind the good deeds and the actions undertaken by the authorities to keep the crime under a strict control. This is important because these people are at the receiving end of these criminals and making them stay far off from them is an essential undertaking. Within the same contexts of crime, white-collar crime is on the escalation in different parts of the world and more specifically within the Western world. White-collar crime ranges from sheer breach of trust within highly technologically-skilled regions of the world down to fraudulent charges as well as computer pilfering, and the like. The way the offenders are dealt with, one can easily comprehend what kind of social values exist within a state and how damaging the repercussions are going to be in the changing times and eras. Punishments must remain at the center of discussions wherever crimes are rampant (Stephens 2001). If the offenders are properly administered and hence punished after they have been proven guilty, it would always be a good idea to make sure that the authorities concerned are doing a good job, and are basically fulfilling their obligations towards the state that they are a part of. This is imperative because it solves quite a few problems and makes the people realize that the authorities are out there to secure them and in essence perform their duties and tasks with a zealous attitude and a spirit to set things right. In the end, it would be sound to suggest here that crime exists because it is made to exist within a society. If it is given the room to get cultivated, the problems would continue to mount for the common people of the land in which it is rampant. The true level of crime can only be ascertained when there are all-out efforts and endeavors taken to thwart the negativities present within the entire dynamics of the society. Crime should always remain behind one’s thinking ideologies because it is least desired and does no good for the people at large. All said and done, crime is and will always be taken in a negative manner because its ramifications, effects and consequences are so severe than no sane man in this world can take this phenomenon for granted. People die, get robbed, are raped and become hurt only due to the madness that crime brings with it.
