This article offers honest information on what the Boeing manufacturing company is planning to do about the repair of the Ethiopian airline. It focuses on the possible repair efforts for the Boeing 787 of the Ethiopian Airline’s airplane, which caught fire in 2013 at London Heathrow airport. It further explains that Boeing manufacturing company choice for the repair of the airplane could include writing off the airplane as a hull loss, replacing the entire tail of the aircraft, or putting a composite patch on the damaged area by the fire. The article gives the information about the evidence of the heat damage of the Ethiopian airline. The article was published on a reputable and as such, it went through review process, which makes it a credible source for information. Hence, this article is useful in the analysis of who should be held accountable for the airplane accidents. Additionally, it has given some valuable information on the major causes of the airplane accidents compared to other sources in this annotated bibliography. Furthermore, the article is reliable because it gives information about practical airplane accident, with reference to the Ethiopian airline case. Moreover, as a member of the British Investigation Board, the author has first-hand account and information regarding the causes of airplane accidents and humanity issues involved such as compensation. The article is very objectives as it explains in detail what the persons responsible for the accident planning to do for the victims of the accident. The article fits the research because it provides the information about the causes of the airplane accidents. It engages in conversation with other sources as it argues about the same issue of the causes of the airplane accident. The source presents the accident of Boeing737 airplane and focuses on its safety records from time it was manufactured, as well as the design integrity of the manufacturing company. It gives details on several incidences where the Boeing 737 showed various weaknesses that could have resulted into its accident. Such integrity is demonstrated on areas such as the fuselage skin and the engine design. It further gives the history of the design model since 1960s and how the Boeing manufacturing company had been using the same models, which could have been the cause of the accident. It also discusses the level that the Boeing Company is making to rectify these manufacturing problems. The source is a credible article, which is very useful to the research paper as it discusses the Boeings manufacturing integrity in its various new airplanes. It analyses what could have been causing these accidents in the Boeing airplanes and gives detailed answers to these problems. It has strongly argued on the manufactures responsibility to the airplane accidents and accuses the manufacturing companies of not have high integrity and safety measures on the airplane accidents, which also makes the information to be reliable for this research. It is objective as it deals mainly with the causes of the airplane accidents and concludes that most of the accidents are due to the manufacturing flaws. Newsweek is a reputable publication, and thus, any article published on it is bound have reliable information. Accidents resulting from manufacturing flaws and negligence is one of the dimensions in my research; thus, the article gives concrete information on the airplane accidents that I need for my research. It explores same issues as the other sources that are used in the research paper, for example, the manufacturers’ responsibility regarding airplane accidents and the measures taken to rectify these problems. Smolowe, Jill; Aradillas, Elaine; Breae, Howar. ASIANA FLIGHT 214 Lucky to Be Alive. People (2013): 72-73. Web. The authors offer a good insight on what happened in Asiana Flight 214. It discusses the crash landing of the airplane, which was from Seoul in South Korea to Francisco in California on 6th July 201. It discusses how the people on board managed to survive with the exception of only two Chinese teenage girls who perished. It explains on how other people were injured in the crash before the airplane caught fire. One of the quotes used in the research paper is from one of the passengers, Eugene Rah, on his near death experience. “As we descended I opened my window blinder. I knew something was wrong.....Then I had the noise of the pilot trying to send more power to the engine to push the plane back up.” This source used is an article, which is useful for the research paper in analyzing injury of victims in the plane crash, the cause of these accidents, and the person/entity responsible for the accident. Compared with the other sources in the bibliography it gives supportive information to how this landing crash occurred, and what could have been the main reason for such a crash. In addition, it gives victims’ account of the accident; hence, the information in the article is reliable and useful in my research. Finally, this article gives an insight that in certain cases, with prompt response, airplane passengers may be rescued during a crash. Samson, Kirk H. Overseas Aircraft Accident Response. Reporter (2004): 23-25. Web. The article attempts to provide various types of issues for the legal officers on that may arise when a U.S military aircraft accident occurs overseas. It points out the practical considerations to consider before they attend the venue of the accident. It discusses the requirements for accident response, and the limitations of the military officers and how to liaise with the local authorities in carrying out airplane accident investigation. This is article a reliable source for this research paper as it highlights on the issues that need consideration when carrying out investigation so as to prevent bias outcome. However, the source is somewhat different with the other sources; it gives important information on how to carry out investigation of any airplane accident in a manner, which is legal and diplomatic. In addition, the source also offers useful information on compensation of airplane accident victims. Finally, investigation on courses of airplane accidents discussed in this research helps in drawing a conclusion as to who is responsible for the airplane accidents, which is similar to what is discussed by other sources in this annotation. However, it is not based on the same argument that those responsible are the manufacturers, but it gives some light on how to know those who are responsible. Read More
