Personal Goals, Objectives and Strategies In the world of business, personal goals and objectives are quite instrumental in shaping ones career, and life in general. Goal setting is powerfully motivating, brings forth a lot of satisfaction due to the sense of achievement, gives focus and also inspires business oriented initiatives. They are meant to give a projected state of affairs. It is important to ensure that one’s goals are well balanced and that they are not one sided. As an MBA student, I have several personal goals and objectives, which I believe will go far into boosting my studies, as well as my future in the world of business. These goals and objectives do much define what I want to be and how I will attain this, in the world of business, and other related areas. Due to their significance, I have made my goals and objectives to be SMART, meaning Specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time bound. For goals and objectives to be authentic, they have to be stated in clear and precise terms. This implies that they should not be generalized, rather they should be categorical, so as to speak. As for the aspect of them being measurable, it simply means that the goals and objectives should be ones which one can determine whether they have been achieved or not. Goals and objectives set are supposed to be achieved through one way or the other. Again, they are supposed to be realistic, rather than mere imaginations. Challenging but achievable with the available resources are virtues to consider within my goals. This means that they should also be achievable within a given period, that is, they should have a time limit. To begin with, as a scholar in the field of business, I aim towards having the capability to identify open business opportunities and capitalize on them. This will entail coming up with new goods and products which were non-existed in the markets, and create some sort of a business empire out of it. In a bid to actualize this desire, I have and will keep on getting the latest information through the social media and other sources on the current trends in the global markets. This will further be enhanced by the change in lifestyles, fashion, and world economy. Recognizing the environmental, social and economic implications of business decisions is encompassed in my list of goals and objectives as a business scholar. This will be followed by recommending the most suitable business practices, which will enable businesses goals attainable or possible clients-remain relevant, and at par with the current trends in the world of business. I also intend to be well versed with the importance of numerous forms of diversity in the business environment. Such objectives will be actualized by a number of factors. Being in a position to identify how demographic and personality, differences that affect the business environment, and coming up with ways of incorporating diversity as a value added ingredient for business success will champion for the above stated goal. The realization of this goal lies in my continued effort to understand the complexities of the economic, cultural and social environments and their effect on business in a global economy, through extensive research on the above stated parameters. Proper decision making skills have been of paramount importance for anyone aspiring to excel in the world of business. This is among the most prioritized of my goals, as it will culminate into making sober and well informed business decisions. Further, it will be enhanced by the use of technology to efficiently and effectively address business related problems. Utilization of suitable qualitative as well as quantitative techniques will also be ensured in analyzing business issues. The use of technology to access materials on decision making has and hopefully will continue shaping this goal into what it is meant to be. Inspired by the aim to exhibit working knowledge of the main concepts with each of the foundational business disciplines; accounting, finance, economics, business law, and operation, I have and I am still reading wide on the same, besides gaining firsthand experience from working in such areas, during internship programs. Ethical and legal issues have proved to be quite a challenge, often bringing lots of businesses and business oriented people down. Same as with me, it is a wish for every business minded individual to be well versed with the legal and ethical issues underlying the business world. This will help in identifying such issues in a business situation and be in a position to evaluate the interplay between regulatory needs and strategic decision making. By going through case studies, I have managed to identify the common issues, and effective way of dealing with them. Business and effective communication are inseparable, especially in the aspect of marketing. As it pertains communication, I am obliged to take the challenge, as effective communication is quite determining in the business specialty. Giving the English language the much attention it deserves is one among the many strategies I intend to employ. I also intend to engage in both written and oral business presentations, in a bid to actualize this goal. By establishing goals and objectives, someone not only knows what specifically to achieve, but also how to employ certain strategies to make achieving the set goals much easier. In business, similarly to other disciplines, objectives are way of getting goals achieved, though the two can be used interchangeably. It is also important that goals and objectives are set in such a way that they do not conflict.
