Extract of sample "Reasons for Lie Detector Device Growth"

The demand for the lying detector has increased with many law enforcers adopting it in order to solve cases in society (Blumenthal, 2008). Investors have contributed a lot by their need to see the system work more efficiently than ever to help them determine the truth among their employees in case of theft. Aside from traditional methods of detecting the genuineness of one’s implications, there exists no other method of detecting lies other than polygraph (Blumenthal, 2008). Effects of lie detector Positive effects include: The use of the polygraph is applicable in non-judicial settings to test the veracity of the suspects within the society (Reinhard & Schwarz, 2012).

Polygraph tests are usable by individuals who seek to convince others of their innocence about a contentious matter. The development of lie detector technology replaced other erroneous methods used in the society such monitoring physiological changes hence polygraph has resulted in cohesive existence among society members. Negative effects include: The use of the polygraph is may not be accepted fully in society because it is a neuro-scientific method that other people may not welcome (Moor & Carle, 1988).

A number of individuals depend on the system that sometimes may not be true other than relying on other means of solving issues (Reinhard & Schwarz, 2012). The society, at large, has adopted it and is using it in personal purposes like detecting family lies among others or by employers. This leads to biasness (Fischman, 1985). Conclusion Lie detectors are good as much as they are bad. Its efficiency is both sided and the consequences can be lethal. It is, therefore, important, if there would be a way of improving its efficiency to 100 percent.

This is mainly because of the basis that the system used for detecting lies (blood pressure, sweat, etc.) can as well be because of other reasons like anger and stress among others. Therefore, the system is not entirely accurate or efficient.
