The paragraph will provide a rationale for the use of the thesis where publishers treat eBooks like software and charge on a per use basis, rather than still treating them as paper books to which they have rights. To prove these points; this proposal intends to consult and use material from the following sources which are reliable and/ or peer reviewed (Adler and Clark 85);
The eBook Revolution: A Primer for Librarians on the Front Lines, by Kate Sheehan, pages 58 to 61. The book says that publishers are looking into the future with optimism and pragmatism rather than with fear and trepidation. The damaging myopia associated with publishers in yesteryears concerning eBooks and induced by fear is slowly receding. The fear of publishers on eBooks and pricing is discussed in detail and the discussion leads to a new concept of adopting a different pricing model for eBooks to ensure everyone is a winner; the publishers and librarians.
The material is a peer reviewed journal that proposes a new way to ensure all players get their due revenue using the SaaS (software as a service) model. The SaaS can be adapted for use by libraries where their services, including book lending is connected to clouds, which may be eBook repositories owned by publishers. The eBooks are then charged to the library per use, which then charges patrons on a per use basis.
