My Driving Experience - Essay Example

As an audio learner it dawned on me that knowing how to drive was the most memorable experience I could ever imagine about. Coupled by the fact that I was a keen observant of the driving rules and my urge to continue without giving in to the impediments which, could chorea its head in any way possible. I was extremely passionate about audio learning of driving, not only was I willing to know the practice itself but also the enthusiasm of acquiring this interesting knowledge of driving. Even though most of the teenagers got this experience at a tender age of 16, mine came a bit late I was in a position to acquire my driving experience after purchasing my first car at the college. Having a car and having no driving experience did not augur well with the way I perceived things, I became restless never imagining the weird state in which I was. A car owner without any driving training leave alone experience, it was soothing to imagine myself putting my palms on the steering wheel, just to think of stepping on the clutch, it was pleased to have this thoughts soon I became obsessed my mind was clogged with the fact of spinning the wheels. Everyday I could stand by my car looking at it by admiration. After many days of desire I contacted my driving tutor, Mr. Timothy who happened to be a good instructor not by anything tangible but by the way he placed his words in the name of coaching me. Then I came to realize that I was a good auditory learner, yes my coach Timothy inflicted this in me I could learn from nothing sort to that. No pens, no papers and no computers or electronic gadgets to put my references from. “Be attentive to the speed limit”, “make a full stop at every point with a stop sign”. These words could reign on my mind every time I took to the road to train. These words were now frequently used by my coach Timothy I could now do the stopping without being reminded; I was a good observant of all the road rules. As an auditory learner I was expected to be attentive, keen and most importantly watch on how things transpired. When I completed my theory test which entailed listening and understanding the driving fundamental concepts it was a moment for my practical application for whatever I understood. Timothy and I took to the road, the training car was there waiting for us. It proved to be an up hill task for me to park a car to the back spot on a Z shape through reverse. I could not figure out the way this concept was coming about I tried at many times but to no avail it all ended in vain. It was like a routine to me to knock sticks which were erected at some points to act as my guidance in the practice. I asked myself whether I was realistic having done these through by my coach Mr. Timothy. Timothy insisted that this concept needed no formal learning which could be involving any pen or paper but just a mere act of listening. I paid attention to my coach I took heed with a lot of composure and there I was doing the correct thing now I could do it yes it is good I have managed it. I realized one thing that I could learn this just through listening to my coach Timothy. Before this I wanted to through towel to all this crap called driving but it was my coach timothy that encouraged me to take heart and proceed with the training.” Practice makes perfect” he could whisper this known words quite often to help me go ahead. It became part of me it was my decision I was to make it work, this was an obligation, and I was for this I cannot let down my dedicated coach in the name of giving up the training. As I understood myself it was crystal clear to me that learning things by my own mistake was the most proficient way I could learn. For the next couple of the days we were on the road with our car wheel rolling the rad. It was very relaxing driving alongside Coach Timothy who appeared now to be very fun. The fun was not coming out of nothing, it was meant to make me remember some crucial procedure which I was earlier given by my coach Timothy. My coach could narrate his encounter with the previous students who passed through his driving school. One of his most remarkable lines was the issue that one of his student who always insisted that a good driver could drive while making a phone call. There were no rules taught in class, everything was taught as I was on the steering wheel. My first driving experience brought in me different emotions, at first I was very happy at seeing myself driving, again I could be scared at how this ordeal was unfolding every time I was taught, I could grow a sense of rebellion at times I was patient, attentive and adherent. Developing rebellion nature posed to be dangerous as I came to realize, there was this day when I deliberately ignored the sign rules on the road the consequent was obvious I was almost reigned on by a big truck which passed in front of my car almost knocking me. It was evident that I passed death by a whisker; but the sense of learning from mistake still stuck on my mind I knew that experience was one of the best teachers I could imagine of. This stunning experience triggered Timothy to share with me one of his interesting experiences which he once had with his previous learners. It went like Chinese student was crossing the road near the starbucks on Grand River Ave. within a blink of an eye the car passed on him he was no more, the driver escaped, yes it was a hit and run scenario no tracking no follow up the case rested. “You see don’t fall a victim to such ugly incidence” Timothy. I was shocked seriously terrified I could not imagine myself be a victim to such casualties I took it as part of me to be keen, observant, careful and obedient. This was a life and death scenario no card playing anymore I either choose to be obedient or follow the ancestors it was evident now to me than ever before that if at all I could continue with my careless attitude I was on my highway to the grave. Ignore it the highway will be meager to you, you will find yourself dead. These thoughts always reined my mind I could not let it escape. The narration was the turning point to me I bet to take utmost vigilance in dealing with road signs and even the teachings from my coach. Remembering what happened to me with the truck I learnt that I was lucky. It became part of me just the way Timothy was always saying that I should make a break whenever there was a stop sign on the road as this governed us on the road safety measures. “Rules are like the fences of the bridge which prevent people from falling, you must always adhere to them”, Timothy said. Not only was the feeling of keeping rules significant to me in driving lessons, but also it was healthy for my life in general. It kept me from indulging into incorrect behaviors such as alcohol and bang taking. Another thing which made learning experience to be essential was the attitude of being able to shun autonomy in which one should learn to work with others towards achieving the same goals in life. Nobody is an island each of us need the help of others. Inasmuch as I knew the significance of depending on people for many things I was still for the strict idea that I should be alone I should do things my own way. Later I was a good driver I could now drive my vehicle without anybody lending me a hand. I would drive my friends and siblings in Michigan as well as national parks around Michigan I could do these during holidays and weekends. Driving skills was of paramount consequence in my life, I could offer my driving services to my family members when they wanted to travel to various places in the Michigan town. I was delighted at having a way in which I could unite with my family. In addition driving offered me various opportunities I could take part in driving competition, representing my town against other towns. I can remember last year when I emerged the best in the region. I became the talk of the town; I was a hero the flag of my town was ever up. People were very happy at seeing me to stop beating about the bush I was a celebrity known all over Michigan. Auditory learning had a great impact in my future life, I am now trained I can learn various things without browsing on the net the way most of the people do in the world today. I will no longer waste time in the learning schools. I know I will have interest in learning information technology; I will not strain very much because I will apply the auditory learning which I already inflicted in my brain to quickly grasp the idea being taught there. All in all auditory learning has helped me to grasp concepts quicker than before, it does not involve much work and I am happy having this learning mode.
