Goal Setting Goal Setting Setting goals is crucial for ensuring success in everyday life. Every person with a purpose in life usually set goals to help them achieve what they desire in their lives. However, achieving goals is not as easy as it may sound. Many people set goals, but fail to achieve them and I must confess that I am not an exception. I used to be a great fan of junk food, hamburger, fries and potato chips among other unhealthy foodstuffs. Consequently, I started gaining weight and it was clear that I would soon be overweight. My weight was 98kilograms and I needed to do something to avoid becoming a victim of obesity, a monster that has become a menace and constant threat to human life in recent times. Therefore, I set myself a goal of shedding 10 kilograms every week. Unfortunately, I could not achieve this target, which got me so devastated and the motivation to reduce my weight was fast waning.
I realized that I was not regulating my calorie intake because I was still stuck with too much junk food. I also tried to lose weight by skipping meals, which did no good to my health. I had to review my goal and set practical ways of shedding excessive weight. I created a schedule, which included adequate gym time with guidance of a gym instructor and also set diet timetable with the help of a nutritionist. The result was so amazing. Every week I lost at least 1 kg, which was positive result towards achieving my goal. I realized that success demands specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time Bound objective. I also realized that too high and unachievable objectives demoralize people while too easy goals undermine ones potential. Read More
