Summary
With the beginning of industrialization, people started looking for fuel to generate energy and meet the growing needs of the huge population of the planet. At first, people used wood as well as whale oil which were then partially or fully replaced by fossil fuels, such as…

First of all, renewable energy is not as harmful for the ecology as fossil fuels. As a result of human activities, the atmosphere of the planet is overloaded with carbon dioxide and other emissions which added all together cause the greenhouse effect that result in the rise of the average temperature of the atmosphere, also referred to as global warming. For example, in the United States, In accordance with the data presented on the official website of the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, “over 70% of electricity comes from burning fossil fuels, mostly coal and natural gas”. In total, electricity production in the country accounts for about one third of harmful emissions, among which 25 percent are emitted by coal-fired power plants and 6 percent – by natural gas-fired power plants (United States Environmental Protection Agency). At the same time, when it comes to the use of renewable energy, greenhouse gases emissions are minimal. What is more, the U. S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory have introduced a milestone study, in accordance to it would be possible to reduce greenhouse gases emissions by 81 percent if at least 80 percent of electricity in the country were produced using renewable sources of energy.
Second of all, renewable sources, such as wind energy, solar energy, geothermal energy, hydrogen, biofuel etc., are vast and inexhaustible. All these mentioned sources have a great technical potential to meet the needs of electricity of the entire world. For example, by 2040, solar power industry could provide 26 percent of people’s needs for electricity (McLamb). Fossil fuels, in their turn, are not unlimited at all. Accordingly with the latest ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

Renewable Energy

...from burning of petroleum fuels 2. The inevitable decrease of oil reserves The use of renewable sources of energy as opposed to fossil fuels has led to the reduced rate of carbon emission. Most of the renewable energy is not produced directly from the source for use but has to use some equipment for it to be useful. There are various types of renewable energy. The type of renewable energy used in any particular country depends on its relative geographical location. Types of renewable energy Hydropower...

Burning of Fossil Fuels

... The burning of fossil fuels The Barrack Obama government has laid down strict limits on the emissions of CO2 by the coal power plants. It has asked the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to block the construction of new power plants who do not comply with the new Clean Air Permit regulations. Before building a new power plant, a utility company must gain permission and procure the required permits for construction from the EPA. At this time, the policy of the EPA is to limit construction of power plants to clean burning natural gas systems (to reduce emissions of CO2). This act has been faced by many criticisms but at the same time the environmentalists have deemed it necessary for reducing global...

Different energy alternatives to fossil fuels

...already reached its oil production and extraction peak and within no time, coal and natural gas may follow suit (Enviroliteracy.org, 2008). Additionally, fossil fuels produce Carbon Dioxide, which has greatly contributed to the ‘global warming effect’. Consequently, population growth, climate change and the depletion of fossil fuel trigger the need for replacing fossil fuels with alternative renewable and climate-friendly energy sources. Alternative energy therefore points to sources of energy that do not exhibit undesired consequences. They are...

Energy crisis (renewable energy VS Fossil fuel)

...Renewable Energy VS Fossil Fuel In recent times, there have been worries in the energy sector over the possibility of clean energy instead of using the type of conventional fuel that pollutes the environment, affecting it negatively. There has also been question over the possibility of depletion of current fossil fuel reserves, where only certain states are able to produce these fossil fuels on a commercial scale and supply them to the rest of the world making them their chief economy driver. There are different types of...

Renewable Energy VS Fossil Fuel

...that renewable sources of energy can provide a solution to the myriad of problems that comes with the fossil fuels and should be fast tracked to check on the challenges occasioned by overreliance on one source of fuels-fossil fuel The need to consider other sources of energy is even accentuated by the fact that fossil fuels that are not only non-renewable, they are also scarcely distributed and this brings more competition on the resource leading to the increase in the cost of using such sources of fuels. This move to...

Fossil Fuels versus Renewable Energy

...Fossil Fuels versus Renewable Energy Dead and decaying plants and animals form fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are formed when these material decay for a long period. Although, there is an abundance of coal, oil, and natural gas now, it will run out someday. Because the process of forming fossil fuels take long, it will be difficult for fossil fuels to sustain the world demand. Once the resources are used, we cannot get them back. One of the benefits of using fossil fuels is that it is...

Alternative Energy vs. Fossil Fuels

...Alternative Energy vs. Fossil Fuels Abstract One of the major challenges facing modern day organizations would be the best possible ways for obtaining energy to support operations including production, heating and lighting and delivery of products, both goods and services. The global energy demand has been noted to be increasingly high while the energy deposits of fossil fuels continue to be fast depleted. It is for this reason that the world is shifting to alternative energy sources said to be renewable and largely environmentally friendly. This paper analyses...

DiscussionFossil Fuels versus Renewable Energy

...Discussion—Fossil Fuels versus Renewable Energy Discuss the scientific and technical concepts related to the uses of fossil fuels and renewable energy resources The use of both fossil and renewable energy fuels serve a significant role in the development as well as running of varied mechanisms in any given state but in certain forms like electricity. However, the final acceptable for of energy usually encompasses use of varied mechanisms that are extremely complex, for instance, like that of electricity. In order to...

Fossil Fuels

...for some time now, for instance, coal and oil belongs to the past (Pfeiffer, 2006). The use of this fuels can be attributed on how inconvenient and adverse effects that fossil fuels have to the environment. Most countries in the world depend entirely on the fossil fuels, hence there is a possibility that if the government do not come up with other power sources, they will be at risk of running out of fossil fuels. It is significant to note that fossil fuels are non-renewable resource hence it can be easily depleted. According to some research that was...

Fossil Fuels

...sources of energy, we will not only end up severely polluting our environment but will also end up with no more fossil fuel reserves left. Fossil fuels are non-renewable resources and the geological processes that resulted in their creation took millions of years, meaning that if we run out of them, we will need millions of years to get them back, that too if the environmental conditions are right (Shepherd, 2002). Part 2 While fossil fuels are being depleted, there is a need to develop alternative sources of energy. Alternative sources...
