Extract of sample "Importance of Gun Control"

I read your article on the case for more guns and its argument captured my interest. This is because gun ownership is critical to a society that has become insecure from gun attacks and yet gun ownership has continued to infiltrate society as civilians are allowed to own private guns. This has been a also long-term problem as the constitution has supported private gun ownership. While a significant percentage of gun ownership by civilians is licensed, some people own guns illegally and others may acquire guns, temporarily, for ill objectives this identifies conflicting opinions on whether to control gun ownership or to allow people the freedom to own guns therefore exist.
Your arguments against gun control as a measure to controlling gun-based violence are convincing but have attracted my attention on several issues that I believe may not be very true.

You offer a rich background of the problem through historical cases of gun-based attacks such as the Aurora and Columbine shootings and the battle between proponents and opponents of gun control and this seems to have informed your position of anti-gun control as a solution to controlling gun-based violence. I concur with you that violence is a concern and preventive measures are necessary. Your position that an increased level of infiltration may help in managing the rate of violence may further be valid and should not be regarded unless there is sufficient evidence to prove otherwise. I further believe that your conscience to the position of increasing infiltration levels as a solution to gun-based violence is clear and I respect your opinion and desire to save people from gun-based attacks (Goldberg 68- 78).

Your argument identifies with my opinion that gun-based violence is a significant problem in society and reported cases of public shootings and crimes that are committed with aid of guns to support this. We further share the opinion that a solution that focuses on gun ownership will be the ideal approach to resolving the current problem. The fact that previous efforts to ensure strict policies against gun ownership, the experience of people who were affected by the Aurora gun incident, and the reaction from political leaders on gun control support the need for a solution, though they do not identify an agreeable solution. Uncontrolled gun ownership also means access to guns by people who are either mentally or emotionally unstable and this could increase the risk of gun-based violence. I have for example learned from your perspective that the debate on gun control may not end soon because politicians who are the lawmakers prefer the status quo and the courts support the current laws on gun ownership (Goldberg 68- 78).
I however believe that a consultative approach can lead to a unified position on gun control towards controlling gun-based violence. Increasing the number of guns in society means that more people who are a threat to others would have guns and this will increase incidences of gun-based violence. Even though your position that increasing the number of guns will promote defense and help in managing gun attackers even in the absence of security personnel, is not a guarantee that a gun attacker can be contained before he or she accomplishes his or her desired objective. Even though it may be a challenge, total restriction on gun ownership, through legislation, would be the best solution because no one will have guns to use against other people (Goldberg 68- 78).
