The cause and effect of learning the English languageLearning how to communicate in the English language undergoes the process of cause and effect. Learning the language may be tough for a non-native speaker like me but the benefit of learning the language is tremendous. Most students endure the rigor of learning the language that is foreign to them because of the consequence or effect of learning the language. In my case for example, and this is also the case of many Arab students, we want to learn the language because of the positive effect of having a good career when we go back to our home countries.
Not so many people can speak the English language well in the companies in Saudi Arabia and such, employees who could speak the language well are often paid high salaries. In addition, English speaking employees also get promoted easily compared to non-English speakers because companies prefer those who can interact with more people. This is becoming more important today because employees now have to work with other people from other countries and cultures with the globalization of our economies.
Such, learning English is becoming more and more important to be effective in one’s job in the future. This explains why many of us flock in English speaking universities in order to improve our English. We would like to get paid well and get easily promoted in the companies that we will work in the future when we go back to our respective countries after graduation. It is hard but I believe it is worth it.
